I have owned a Ping G410 Driver & hybrids almost since they were introduced. Over the years my swing has improved and like you experience the ball began to hook. From another RUclipsr I recently learned that there is a shaft adjustment previously unknown to me - a Flat Setting on the back of the shaft. The issue is just what you experienced - the standard setting sits toe up with a draw bias. I adjusted my shafts to standard flat and went to the driving range and experienced very positive results. I've played two rounds of golf with the flat settings with very good results as well. I've never hit my G410 driver and hybrids this straight. Very pleased with finding out about the flat settings - it straightened out the ball flight. Wanted to share to spread the word that if the ball is hooking too much - simply try setting the shaft to the flat setting. Good Luck to you - it worked for me... :)
Jim Powell speaking here. I just purchased the ping g425 after being fitted. For me it out performed the epic max, sim2 max, the cobra rad speed and the new Mizuno. I must tell you it was not even close. The ping performed pretty well in the fitting. Getting to the golf course it was great. It is a great forgiver. Finding fairways seems to be it purpose. I have never had a ping product. This is a wonderful driver. I am a senior player with a handicap that goes from 9-11.
I just took out a Demo 425 yesterday to my local range and compared it to my G410 and was not seeing any improvement or difference except the difference in the noise/sound made by ball contact which was not pleasant for the 425. Sounds like striking a tin can to me. Not going to upgrade. The appearance is appealing but the results seem no different than my G410.
Like the format. On course would be interesting. Every reviews I’ve seen says the 425 is very straight. Going to try it out when shops are open. Thanks.
What’s people opinions on shafts , I have 410 plus with the stick Alta 55g stiff shaft , carrying 230 to 250 yds .... 100mph swing speed ..... should I be carrying more & would maye a change of shaft help ? Heavy ect ?
Trial and error however if you are hitting the fairways I would stay with your current shaft. I personally prefer a 65-70g shaft with counterbalance. I have the Tensei Orange in my 410 but had the Aldila Rogue white in my 400. I play 45" for more accurate sweet spot strikes.
Enjoyed this. Thank you. With the arrival of the G 430 line I purchased a G 425 Max at a deep discount. I like the adjustability and all though there might not be much in it distance wise in regards to the previous model G 410 isn't hitting fairways pretty important???
Good review. I liked the shootout. I also liked that your swing is not super consistent like some other pros who do these club reviews. It makes it more real for an average golfer.
I had the g400 9 degree with the 65s shaft in it, was incredible. Then I bought the g425 max 9 degree with the same shaft and it was unplayable. Was it because of the weight of the new head?
It seems to me that you're hitting an aggressive draw with the 410 weight in the draw position. I wonder what the comparison would look like if you put the weight in the neutral or fade position...I'm thinking it would be in the fairway.
I play the Ping G410 LST and the sole of the G425 looks clunky in comparison. What’s the point of the turbulators on the crown to reduce air resistance if the back of the sole creates drag? Like the muted colour scheme, which extends to the head over, but that won’t help me find fairways!
I had the G410 and I got the new G425 Max and hitting it 40y more and a lot straighter and picked up 2 shots from old iron to getting all new G425 in everything 😃😃
A little off-topic, but it seems like from your previous videos that going down to 44 1/2" driver length produced far more favorable results than what head was being used.
Liked the head to head format. Prefer seeing shots hit on a real hole layout rather than on the range view. Shows when you pull the shot just what impact it would have.
Hey Ali I noticed you hit the drivers in the shoot out one at a time but maybe if you alternate which driver you hit first by going driver A then B then B again and then A and A again etc. This way it might give you a different outcome
Haven’t used my G410 in anger yet owing to lockdowns .... I do prefer the new look but will try to play my 410 when courses re open ...enjoyed the shoot out though 🏌️♂️
The new 425 seems uninspired, with nothing that would indicate any real improvement over the 410. I kind of feel bad for the engineers/club designers tasked with coming up with something new each year. It can’t be easy.
425 is more forgivable and the adjustable weight is heavier, which allows it to he more effective. Ping is advertising it as being more forgiving, but not farther.
Now that was kind of a set up .... same shaft with different heads I believe different weight of the head effecting the shafts flex could may have contributed to the ball flight
Would love to see the difference between the G425 and the G30. Model to model I am not surprised by the marginal difference, but what about after almost a decade??? Somewhat more realistic for a lot of golfers who do not change drivers in every 2-3 years.
YES>...need a competition between G425 and the G30...I bought a G425 and got rid of my G30..G425 and I have to say the G425 APPEARS to be better...but would love some one else to confirm this...
Still watching... but had to pause video to make a comment. I couldn’t buy the new G425 for one reason. When you showed the underside of the club head, it showed the new BIG moveable weight.. it looks like a first prototype! It’s not faired -in, or in any way attractive. It looks like the wrong weight for the wrong club! Like someone’s lost a weight and shoved any old bit of metal in the space. Poor design PING.
Sorry, dont like your habit of addressing the ball then moving the club a few inches forward before striking - the ball SHOULD be on the Sweet Spot which you don't ever manage to do ?

I have had both, a few times! I prefer the feel of the 410 Plus, so it is in the bag.

The look of the G410 is amazing.
Really like the new format and a thumbs up to on course testing in the future.
I like the format. Adding real game conditions on the course would be a bonus.
Love the new format Ali - more of these please!

Thanks for this Ali, im definitely happy with my G410 plus driver and will be keeping it in the bag for a while!
Great new format Alistair! Yes also to on course testing.
Love my 410 but impressed with the 425. Liked the review, good format.
Love the new format and the shootout. Well done Ali.
Would love to see a comparison between the G710 and G425
Good review. I liked the shootout. I also liked that your swing is not super consistent like some other pros who do these club reviews. It makes it more real for an average golfer.

I think you should be using the flat setting to stop the left miss
Great format, it addresses what matters most to me... hitting the short grass!

What this proves is the g410 max is more draw biased, and will still be worth trying for faders, i.e. most of us.
And that man do I feel claustrophobic watching these videos
I had the G410 and I got the new G425 Max and hitting it 40y more and a lot straighter and picked up 2 shots from old iron to getting all new G425 in everything 😃😃
What happened to the controlled fade?
I just upgraded from a Cobra Ampcell to a 410 I can’t get myself to plunk down $580 on a driver. I love the 410
Great test format! Thanks for sharing...does not appear there is much difference in performance to justify the upgrade $.
I went from the g400max to the 425LST and I’m loving it. Easier to hit for me at least.
Great content again.... I think the g410 lst was the best driver in 2020 on golfspy.... I am courius to see if the new one is better
A little off-topic, but it seems like from your previous videos that going down to 44 1/2" driver length produced far more favorable results than what head was being used.
Love the new format and especially the fairway finder shootout
Like the new format Ali
I have played g410 plus for the last year or so. Loved it, the g425 is deffo on my wish list
:-)
Liked the head to head format. Prefer seeing shots hit on a real hole layout rather than on the range view. Shows when you pull the shot just what impact it would have.

Liked this a lot, definately more Big A.. 😀😀😀👍👍👍

Like I said, I can't win. Same shaft people say heads are different. Different shafts they say not fair.
Distance has not changes much over the last decade. It’s dispersion and forgiveness that newer clubs excel at.
Not much in it mate.... looking to change from TS2. Tried new TSI2 but no real improvements
I prefer my TS2 over my G410..its lighter, sounds and looks better. I can get more yds with the Ping but less height and not as forgiving.
Love it that you found an old coal mine ready for conversation.
Lock down was tough in the UK 😂
Like the sound and feel of my G400 Max better. No change this time for me
Would love to see the difference between the G425 and the G30. Model to model I am not surprised by the marginal difference, but what about after almost a decade??? Somewhat more realistic for a lot of golfers who do not change drivers in every 2-3 years.

Ali the format are brilliant can you please help me where are the ping 415 max or the 420max something is fishy
g400 the standard ,I will not be changing
g425 the ugliest plain ping driver ,no thanks

Nothing to do with the equipment it was your swing
G410 water driver
I have the ping G410
This guy needs a G425 mainly because he can’t hit it in the center of the face.
Like most I imagine
Sorry, dont like your habit of addressing the ball then moving the club a few inches forward before striking - the ball SHOULD be on the Sweet Spot which you don't ever manage to do ?
It’s you
Did you one single shot anywhere near the sweet spot? Lol the worst ball striker in the history of online reviews.
Depends if you understand how big the sweet spot is.
@@AliTaylorGolf LOL, okay.
