Nice build it looks pretty fun. If they can also have a look at the location you respawned ! 1 map and a half from your body that's a 20-30s free run for a necro or a druid.
Anybody that played D2R would know it’s the dream/fantasy to see frozen orb not only be viable but incredibly strong. The aesthetics on the skill is just beautiful. Maybe frozen orb can compete with the skill blizzard for once, if not, surpass it in season 4. There is also a streamer out there that finished a tier 200 pit recently with frozen orb with relative ease.
I wonder if things like Shako and the new uber unique Tyrael's Might (+5% max to all resistances and 10% damage reduction), might be items you really want/need, in order to have solid damage reduction.
I played a frozen orb build in season 1 to moderate success before quitting the game, more or less. This has me tempted to return and give it another go. Frozen Orb is my favorite.
Glad to see them change it to cast where you choose. With mobs being as aggressive as they are, they'd always run past its explosion radius toward you whereas D2 mobs were slower so it felt nothing like what it felt it should. Glad to see them make that change. The only change I really wanted to convince me to play it.
This build looks awesome. I hope there’s new builds to try on lightning sorc as well. It seems that Diablo 4 is finally at a state where it’s worth playing for longer than a week every season. I’m actually excited to see how strong I can make a character using the new itemisation systems.
With the change to DR, things like Firebolt enchant will become more staple, or the sub skill for hydra to create burning, as DR from burning will become more sought after then chilled since it affects bosses. Reinforced, territorial, tyraels, and shako will be almost essential. I'd like to see a rework of the DR/Defensive glyphs to create more use from underused glyphs, and open up more DR options and balance. Perhaps these changes: Warding: Current: Reduces damage taken based on lack of mana. Change: Gain X% damage reduction after spending XX mana for 5 seconds Imbiber: Current: Gains potion healing efficiency. Change: Gain X% damage reduction while healthy (to help eliminate one-shots and fits glyph theme) Frostbite: Current: Gain DR after freeze expires Change: Enemies deal X% less damage after being struck with a Frost Skill for XX seconds Enchanter: Current: Gain X% max res based on element in enchantment slot Change: Gain the following bonus based on the element in your enchantment slot: Cold - 5% Damage Reduction; Fire - 7.5%(x) Increased Damage; Lightning - 5% Increased Crit Chance and 5%(x) Crit Damage Unleash: Current: After spending 50 Mana, you deal 7%[x] increased damage and gain 7% increased Mana Regeneration for 3 seconds. Change: After spending 50 Mana, you deal 3%[x] increased damage and gain 3% Damage Reduction for 3 seconds, stacks up to 3x (spending 50 mana refreshes the timer)
Glad they gave frozen orb some shine, I've wanted to play frozen orb in D4 purely for nostalgia but there wasn't any great builds that i remember from the earlier seasons using FO.
Hopefully there is already a leveling guide in the works working towards this build because i already see a lot of people getting mad playing the build without the right items and tools at their hands ^^.
Hey Rax, I tried this build out today in the PTR and I have to agree with you that this build is not only a lot of fun but the scalability with this build seems to be quite vast. That being said I would like to get your opinion in regard to the use of the Oculus as well the the arraignment chest piece. I have been running the Frozen orb build with these two items and so far I am liking the out come, however I normally run the BL build with my sorc so I am not familiar with all the intricacies of the cold builds so I was hoping to get your thoughts. Thank you for another insightful build idea and another great video. I really appreciate all that you folks at Maxroll do.
I would guess that The Oculus won't be very good for that specific build since it doesn't have a strong focus on Teleport, and The Oculus is really made for being all-in on TP. That being said, there IS a build that will probably be very strong with The Oculus which is TP-specific. It will probably require a very good roll of The Oculus to get max ranks on TP; it was changed from 7-15 to 5-10, with the possibility to get up to 15+ ranks with a Greater Affix and/or Masterworking bonuses. Basically, if you can get your TP cooldown down to around 4-4.5 seconds then you can put a new Utility Aspect onto your amulet that reduces TP's cooldown by 1-2.5 seconds, which will then be multiplied by the amulet multiplier to 1.5-4.25 seconds. Basically, you can get TP to either 0 cooldown or very close to 0. One of TP's new enhancements increases its damage by 500%, and there are new Tempered affixes that both boost the AoE of the nova TP creates on arrival and also the damage it does. With very good rolls of all of that, I would expect that you could make TP a very strong main damage dealer, and then The Oculus would be BiS for that build. Once I get all the pieces I'm planning to try it out.

I normally always agree with Raxx with everything. But have to disagree a little bit with the survivability issues with Raxx here. Sorc definitely should get one shot by lvl 200 boss avoidable Aoe. Who also got one teleport and one 100% damage immunity Cd on top of evade. I’m totally ok with this and everyone should too. Do we really want to be able to afk or facetank the super endgame lvl 200 bosses?
I really want to play this build next season. Do we have an idea of which boss the neck is going to drop from? Would suck if it's Duriel and it doesn't come online until really far in.
If they listen to community tell them to design revive to have 3 options. 1:Most important Revive at corpse: no one want to run like i*iot true empty map from some time far away checkpoints. 2: keep having revive at checkpoint.3: Revive in town or outside the pit statue (add blacksmith right next to the pit statue for repair broken gear).They have so many devs,is it not so easy and simple to design that like adding 65 euro horse skin which cost more than the full game? How many developers they need to design so simple things,diablo 3 have all of that from a decade. From my understanding, your defense against elemental dmg sky rockets after 70%. So Tyrael would prob be insane and immensely helpful for really high content.
This is all great… but! I’ve been playing the PTR with this same build since it launched.. currently at 24 Zir runs and can’t get the neck… if I knew my entire PTR experience would be trying to farm blood for Zir for a neck that won’t drop… I would have tried another build. So the question is, what’s the drop rate on this neck and do you want to try a build that is gate locked by a unique drop?
been running frozen orb/blizzard with double hydra (using sacred legendary affix) in season 3, added teleport for the vault/traps (although vault reward seem to be lukewarm)
Looks cool, brings back D2 vibes but like you said what’s the point of your dying and you have best case scenario possible for defense? Impossible to play this hardcore which is what 90% of people left playing this game play.
Not sure how I feel about the scaling. At the same time, I did enjoy Diablo 3 but when it comes to it... Seasons only lasted for a week or so because there was no point to playing any further than that because the scaling would be so absolutely insane that you're burned out so quick on the excitement. I really hope there's more to it than just big numbers on my screen and blasting through rifts because that'll lose it's appeal pretty quickly and then we're back at square one. I remember you mentioning in a previous video that it'll be nice to see how they implement on top of this and improve it over Diablo 3, though a lot of the cool stuff that was in the final season of Diablo 3 with the Alter passives you could get to enhance your game play... you don't really even see any of those ideas even implemented in 4. Hopefully they build upon this foundation that they have though history dictates it might just be a "build them sets and forget it" kinda angle. I truly hope it's not though, Blizzard has given me nothing but justification for my skepticism of them. It is nice that the bosses themselves feel a bit more threatening now though, so that's a good take away. Keep up the awesome work with your videos dude, looking forward to more :)
its only ptr, let them figure it out, they have a month to get it all tuned up. More over they have about another 6 months before the expansion to get things ready and tuned for that also.

If I were to consider saying that, i would mention that they had how ever long development was to have it “figured out”. My stance is more of healthy skepticism as they figure it out since i have dabbled on D4 since its launch, only season I skipped was the previous one.
Are you using the new 25% DR aspect for conjurations? I thought it was pretty impressive how much hits you survived from the 100+ pit boss 😅. Honestly, I'm a bit confused that people are blasting 100+, feels too easy 😑.
Hi Raxx, thx for the video. I also setup this build with a few more gear and also noticed that defense is hard to build now without DR. I don't mind that DR is rare but we must be able to build defense. I d'ont like if we go all offense glass canon as in D3 (Where defense was generally done by one legendary item and the set 4 item power). Without defense how will be PvP? (I know it is not a real thing for blizz unfortunately). And how about HC? Hope they tweak it before S4 release.
I have yet to try the ptr. Not cuz I don't want to. I'm just caught up in necropolis. They fixed a lot of the stuff. You can craft godly items with the corpses.
I mean, at some point down the Pit the boss _should_ oneshot you, no matter what gear you have. At pit level 150, or a bit higher maybe. 100 is a bit low for that.
I'm at a point with Diablo 4 where i just want this game to be really good already. I love the gameplay, the story, the setting, the atmosphere, I just want the systems and the endgame to be pretty good and solid as the rest of the game! It seems they are going in the right direction, so let's hope for the best.
We have to consider that there is supposed to be a Cap on how high you can go in these Dungeons. Similar to how there is a "soft" cap on D3. People then use these as the target and if they can beat it. As you do get the big uniques you will go higher but there should be a point that you simply can't go any higher, due to damage given or received. You are on 101 without an optimum build which is very good. Now the challenge really get going on how much further you can go. But be prepared that it may only be a few more. Build does look fun though, great memories of D2.
Real question is, how difficult was it to obtain that level of gear. I'm scared with all this crafting they havnt actually added any difficulty or risk to get your gear
@@maxmustermann3938 Yes, but I only saw one in pit 200 or killing super ubers and it was a classic tornado, even the hurricane one that you say Wudi was playing and he himself said it was fun but bad, he couldn't go over 100 in the pit and he couldn't make it climb , it's more fair now wudi is trying other things in druid because he can't find something that is good.
@@jesusplaza6922 we are only a couple days into PTR at this point... And I think it is silly to set high end pit that isn't required for anything as the measurement for "viable" builds, not to mention the season mechanic will make everyone more powerful once S4 drops.
@@maxmustermann3938I understand what you're saying, but the poor druid only has one build that does pit 200, and that is a marker of the synnegy he has at the moment, if some builds don't scale and need external power, (season mechanics) thing We don't know if the mechanics will work for them, that just shows that the pj requires a little more love, because as I said, only one build yields pit 200, the rest, like Wudi is trying right now, in his stream they go wrong, nothing scales well.
Even when D4's items does something cool thay cant even nail the theme for it, like there is no reason that frozen orb would be the only spell to have a chance to summon conjurations and if it had why does it summon fire hydras and lighning spears? Ice blades makes atleast thematic sense. The conjuration could just have matched the element of the spell used.
I don’t think is good Lilith appears in another boss fight, they could add different one shot mechanics for each boss that is at that level, it’s very good seeing you taking on the PTR hopefully they listen to you to make some changes and take the game to the next level.
It must be buged because i getting killed with something invisible, even a seconds after boss is killed. Anyway i m playing this build with uniques and its really fun, hope blizz will not nerf frozen orb and rather they boost others characters and builds.
If you take a step back and squint, this is just turning into D3. And that's a bad thing, in my opinion. The hope was that this was going to be a dark, more nuanced ARPG with combat that made you think and make choices. They released the game too early and unfinished, the game's reputation was severely damaged, and so they pulled the "fuck it, big affixes, big explosions, big numbahs!" It's like they we're promising The Dark Knight, couldn't get it right, so now they're retroactively making it Transformers. And it's like, the first Transformers was a fun movie, don't get me wrong, but it's just like mindless popcorn trash in comparison to the original vision. Sadly, the majority seem happy with this, and so the long term fate of this game is now basically decided. I bought D1 in Circuit City on release. My first reaction to this is, "well, D5 someday..." but then I realize I'll literally be 45-50 by then, and every expectation/hope/dream since D2 has been undelivered. I seriously think it might be time to give up gaming.

Zir. Also, Uniques are tradeable now if you don't want to bother farming it yourself.

If Tyrael might can roll greater on max res maybe you can survive all elemental damage then?

Watching you play and looking at the polishing this game has and the art style, tbh I love the artstyle of D4 more then Last Epoch

Yes, like all Uniques. This one is from Zir. Also you can trade uniques now.
Hi Raxx, thx for the video. I also setup this build with a few more gear and also noticed that defense is hard to build now without DR. I don't mind that DR is rare but we must be able to build defense. I d'ont like if we go all offense glass canon as in D3 (Where defense was generally done by one legendary item and the set 4 item power). Without defense how will be PvP? (I know it is not a real thing for blizz unfortunately). And how about HC?
Hope they tweak it before S4 release.

I have yet to try the ptr. Not cuz I don't want to. I'm just caught up in necropolis. They fixed a lot of the stuff. You can craft godly items with the corpses.

Blizzard finally realizes that putting fun affixes like "chance to cast X twice" is good for... the fun of the game. Crazy.
I mean, at some point down the Pit the boss _should_ oneshot you, no matter what gear you have. At pit level 150, or a bit higher maybe. 100 is a bit low for that.

I'm at a point with Diablo 4 where i just want this game to be really good already. I love the gameplay, the story, the setting, the atmosphere, I just want the systems and the endgame to be pretty good and solid as the rest of the game!
It seems they are going in the right direction, so let's hope for the best.
We have to consider that there is supposed to be a Cap on how high you can go in these Dungeons.
Similar to how there is a "soft" cap on D3. People then use these as the target and if they can beat it.
As you do get the big uniques you will go higher but there should be a point that you simply can't go any higher, due to damage given or received.
You are on 101 without an optimum build which is very good. Now the challenge really get going on how much further you can go. But be prepared that it may only be a few more.
Build does look fun though, great memories of D2.
Real question is, how difficult was it to obtain that level of gear. I'm scared with all this crafting they havnt actually added any difficulty or risk to get your gear
gotta go for this build next Season for sure, Ice Mage or any Ice is a really cool shit that Gaming don't have enough.

rax saves the druid, I didn't find a build in the ptr apart from the classic tornado, the rest seems to need a lot of love in their skills etc.
There are plenty of build options for druid, including Hurricane now.
@@maxmustermann3938 yeah but any one can do pit 200, wudi play hurricane and says needs a loot of love cause is a 4 of 10.
@@maxmustermann3938 Yes, but I only saw one in pit 200 or killing super ubers and it was a classic tornado, even the hurricane one that you say Wudi was playing and he himself said it was fun but bad, he couldn't go over 100 in the pit and he couldn't make it climb , it's more fair now wudi is trying other things in druid because he can't find something that is good.
@@jesusplaza6922 we are only a couple days into PTR at this point... And I think it is silly to set high end pit that isn't required for anything as the measurement for "viable" builds, not to mention the season mechanic will make everyone more powerful once S4 drops.
@@maxmustermann3938I understand what you're saying, but the poor druid only has one build that does pit 200, and that is a marker of the synnegy he has at the moment, if some builds don't scale and need external power, (season mechanics) thing We don't know if the mechanics will work for them, that just shows that the pj requires a little more love, because as I said, only one build yields pit 200, the rest, like Wudi is trying right now, in his stream they go wrong, nothing scales well.
One thing i think the pit must have is monster dropping somethink like "pylons" to boost for a couple of seconds some random status.
Tried this build Ice armor always made it more tanky unless you go with a fire build
Even when D4's items does something cool thay cant even nail the theme for it, like there is no reason that frozen orb would be the only spell to have a chance to summon conjurations and if it had why does it summon fire hydras and lighning spears? Ice blades makes atleast thematic sense. The conjuration could just have matched the element of the spell used.
Straight up question, how do you aim FO on ps5? And if you can't aim it will FO be same effective on console?

I don’t think is good Lilith appears in another boss fight, they could add different one shot mechanics for each boss that is at that level, it’s very good seeing you taking on the PTR hopefully they listen to you to make some changes and take the game to the next level.
Will they add bosses? Can’t fight tomb lord for 500 times levelling up.
Finally a proper frozen orb build. Makes me want to try PTR, before Blizzard nerf the hell of this build lol
Frozen orb was my favorite build Season 1, I had insane lucky hit and enchant would proc orbs like crazy. 😂
It must be buged because i getting killed with something invisible, even a seconds after boss is killed. Anyway i m playing this build with uniques and its really fun, hope blizz will not nerf frozen orb and rather they boost others characters and builds.

If you take a step back and squint, this is just turning into D3. And that's a bad thing, in my opinion. The hope was that this was going to be a dark, more nuanced ARPG with combat that made you think and make choices. They released the game too early and unfinished, the game's reputation was severely damaged, and so they pulled the "fuck it, big affixes, big explosions, big numbahs!"
It's like they we're promising The Dark Knight, couldn't get it right, so now they're retroactively making it Transformers. And it's like, the first Transformers was a fun movie, don't get me wrong, but it's just like mindless popcorn trash in comparison to the original vision.
Sadly, the majority seem happy with this, and so the long term fate of this game is now basically decided. I bought D1 in Circuit City on release. My first reaction to this is, "well, D5 someday..." but then I realize I'll literally be 45-50 by then, and every expectation/hope/dream since D2 has been undelivered. I seriously think it might be time to give up gaming.
