    Healthy competition is something that could be a good thing for both Exodus and Mass Effect. Exodus really has to prove itself, because ME layed a foundation of expectations on this type of sci-fi storytelling. ME can't afford to be complacent, otherwise all the media attention will go to Exodus, and ME will be forgotten.

    Mass Effect 1,2 and 3(using the Happy Ending mod) will always be the space/sci-fi gold standard. I love this trilogy.
    If Exodus is as good as we hope it will be, then that's just amazing news for us gamers.
    But nothing will ever knock the crown off of the Mass Effect trilogy .
    Thanks for the video Paragon7

    Honestly Mass Effect's biggest rival and final boss will be EA itself. Their leadership is absolutely psychotic, talking about using AI for content generation. Anyone who's read GPT generated fiction understands why this is a terrible idea.

    I also have extremely high hopes for Exodus. Everything on paper looks great, they just have to execute.
    To be honest, one of the things that excites me the most is finding out they got Peter F Hamilton helping them with world building (and he is also writing the tie in novels, the first of which comes out in September). He is without a doubt my favourite sci-fi author, even long before I ever thought he could be involved in this. I've read most of his books multiple times, and they're doorstoppers, usually around 1000 pages apiece. He just writes massive space operas with the most awesome world building, and I can see his influence in a lot of the Exodus stuff like their timeline and other nuggets of info you can find on their site.
    It'll probably come down to the writing and companions in the end. Sure, world building is great and it's going to elevate this game, but if you don't fall in love with all the characters it doesn't have a chance at dethroning Mass Effect.
    I hope we see some more at summer games fest or the xbox showcase or something. If not there, we will probably see it again at the game awards.

      I'm excited to read Hamilton's Exodus books when they come out! Feels very similar to when Mass Effect released Revelation before the first game came out.

    Im really exited for Exodus i love the saturday morning cartoon artstyle its going for and im right now im keeping most of my focus on Exodus and Me5 in the back of my head until we get more news on that just so i dont get burned out by all the waiting.
    Also the game awards trailer really made me think Tom Vargas was going to be the games protagonist
    and the extended story trailer got me in tears its so good

    I can’t wait for exodus! I still need to get my ps5. Though the next mass effect will likely be on ps6. Both are going to be great games but when it comes to Shepard I hope they find a way to give his character closure in a way that helps fans accept a new protagonist. I want Sheppard as a side npc or temporarily playable character

    When I first saw the announcement trailer for Exodus during the Game Awards, I actually wasn't that impressed. I typically don't like it when games try to use big named actors to hype up their games, so I watched the first trailer with some skepticism. It wasn't until recently I decided to learn a bit more about the game and went to the website. While watching the full cinematic trailer, reading the short stories, reading the timeline on the website, and learning who the people that are crafting this new world, I can honestly say my interest level has risen to excited!
    One of the concepts I find interesting about this new IP is about the Aliens themselves, in that the Aliens(The Celestials) are us! They're us just separated by 40,000yrs of light speed travel and heavy genetic engineering of evolution. Regular Humans don't recognize the Celestials, and the Celestials themselves see their Human ancestors as primitive. I don't think but I find this concept to be really fascinating!
    Either way, while waiting for the new Mass Effect, I'm now very much looking forward to Exodus. I hope its a smash hit that spawns more sequels.

    My theory for mass effect story is a arms race mix with cold war. You have species collecting reaper technology and material in order to rebuild thier ships, military and planets. They had the best armor and weaponry so every one is going to want it and with plenty of reapers dying on thier homeworlds they will get it. With the cold war angle is you have mainly humanity doing what what allies did post ww2 with operation paperclip. Collecting German scientists, physics, engineers for thier cause and military. We could see that with the races here with the council dont knkw what happens to them I assume they evacuation. Putting laws out saying don't have this technology. But, thier worlds aren't listening to them and do it anyways and become uneasy and suspicious of the other having it.

    I am excited for Exodus but not gonna lie, I wish the lead characters shown were more good looking like the promo art. Currently the male human in the trailer looked like a discount version of Adrien Brody. Can we just have Andrien? Pretty please?
    As for best Sci Fi game, IDK, Wing Commander is pretty great and Squadron 42 is coming soon. We'll see.

    I'll give it a go, but I'm rather indifferent about it. They are doing too much to emulate Mass Effect. I'm with you on there being commonalities between many sci-fi franchises, but to go as far as to title things as Remnant and/or Citadel seems like an attempt to either demean BioWare or to prosper off of them. If they don't want to be at BioWare or BioWare doesn't want them, it's kind of shallow to copy and paste to this level.

    I don't know... Still feels like it's missing something to me. It /looks/ amazing, the graphics, the style, story seems ok, it all seems to be there, but there's something missing and I can't put my finger on it. To me it looks like another cis-het story with generic male protag. Maybe that's a bit harsh but I'm tired of this grandpa. I'd be really happy to be wrong here but seeing as it's staring Mathew McConaughey as the protagonist in every article I've read, it seems unlikely.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to play it, just not overwhelmingly so.

    • @leon3589
      @leon3589 7 месяцев назад +2

      The character you play is Jun and it’s a customisable character, as far as I know. It’s referred to as “the traveler”
      I also don’t like generic male protagonists. Less so if it’s another white male saviour (and I’m white cis-het, I just don’t approve). I don’t even look at the game if it has one. So here’s hoping what I’ve read is true.
      I’m gonna assume that the companion Tom Vargas is the one Matthew plays.

    • @lindsey-do-it
      @lindsey-do-it 7 месяцев назад

      @@leon3589Ahhh ok, that gives a bit of hope for a customizable character. I'd love to see either non binary or female being the primary pre set for once too. But yeah, the white saviour trope is harmful at worst and tired at best. I also don't like the whole "stealing from other cultures to further your own" story line that seems to be coming through in exodus, portraying humanity as a great innovator... Because they stole stuff, painting it in a positive light. It's giving "white setler colonization apologist" (I'm saying this as a white person as well) I think that's where Mass Effect will always have a leg up. It's culture interwoven. Race plays a part and is discussed, each race has good and evil, racism is addressed, no single race is wholly the bad guys or the good guys. While Mass Effect is not perfect by any means when it comes to potentially harmful tropes (*cough* Jacob in ME2*cough*) I'm a little worried Exodus might turn out to be a colonization sim. Of course it could be that humanity will have to address their behavior and the alien races might not be as evil as portrayed but, I guess we will just have to wait till release to find out what the story turns out to be.
