Part of him, you can see bits of him all around The Lands Between. Even at the bottom of Stormveil Keep. He's all over but at the Roots of the Erdtree is where you'll find most of him.
there's a theory that his body is in one spot where they buried him, but because his body is glitching out from the Errd Tree trying to bring something back to life that doesn't have a soul, his undead influence is being spreading where ever the roots touch, leading to his malformed face popping up in random spots
Godwyn, Radahn and Miquella were the best of demi-gods. Godwyn as the king, Radahn as commander of kingdom's army and Miquella as ther governor would be a dream for any kingdom.
Lansseax halberd incantation and maybe vykes dragonlightning lore entry. It's "insinuated" at least. Depends on how wholesomely you interpret "loving vyke the most".
@@TheRealJohnux I've always kinda been annoyed at the interpretation that they were lovers, especially when Vyke's own lore insinuates that he loved his Finger Maiden instead (alongside game files referring to the Finger Maiden corpse found near his invasion spot as "Vyke's Finger Maiden). Yeah, Lansseax's lore says "of all the knights, she loved him most." But when you remember that she literally played the role of a priestess for the cult and likely interacted with many, many different knights, it makes much more sense for it to be platonic.
The Lands Between was already a messed up place, especially the Golden Order. They literally have a concentration camp underneath their capital city for the undesirables, and they established themselves through the near genocide of the Fire Giants.
I still think that the only and main reason why Ranni even targetted Godwyn in the first place was because of how capabable he was in stopping her plan all his accomplishments proves that dude was probably the strongest out of all Radagon, marikas children excepct Messmer that's another rabbit hole.
Imagine Beating a Death Blight Dragon Becoming friends with the dragon Opening a new type of incantation for Leyndell Only to get killed by a blue witch fuck
When Godwyn was buried and deathroot started to take his body, Fortisaxx tried to protect his friend only to be corrupted himself causing him to go mad.
I think her plan was to kill the person most able to continue the Golden Order amongst the demigods since her plan seems to be against it and the Outer Will
there's some comment out there explaining that godwyn was chosen basically just because he was the most convenient to kill, so it was nothing personal, ranni just had her own motives. it's possible ranni didn't even choose godwyn herself, the assassination was just carried out with the goal of killing any demigod.
The Black Knifes assassins were given the dagger made from death. Which was one of the two made from death and can only be used once. They were going to kill Marika. Unfortunately Godwyn was clapping his moms cheeks and was chilling in her room while she was bathing. The Black knifes assassins thought he was her and jumped him only to realize that it was him afterwards. Marika enters the room and screams. Alerting the guards who came and drove them away. The Black Knife would then try to steal the Death dagger that Ranni had to try to kill Marika. We see this during one of the trailers where Ranni is being chased.
Mohg was stuck in a concentration camp and erased from the history books, as typical for the Golden Order and the things they don’t tolerate. Ranni probably didn’t know he existed. Also, Godwyn was the poster child for Marika’s fascist and xenophobic theocracy so he’d be a prime target.
I don't like her at all. She's done horrible things just like the other demigods but oh, don't get me started as she was the one who instigated the shattering.

@@Envoxity maybe read Japanese translations. Lore was kinda butchered in English version, which is a big reason why people don't get Ranni. She was actually the one trying to fight for the freedom of people in lands between. Before her, all the souls were trapped in the lands between, just to play a puppet show for Elden beast/erdtree. Trapped for all eternity, to play the part in that show. Anyone who didn't toe the line like the fire giants were eradicated. Ranni was fighting for the only good ending freedom from the rule of the outer god.
@@Envoxity Causes of war. The Golden Order took her mother to madness, and she acted back. It ended up destroying the Lands Between, but I don't think she cared much
The more these things pop up the more I realize you and most people don’t actually know the lore behind the night of Black knives. Ranni never sent the Black Knives after Godwyn. She did what she had to in order to restore the natural order of the world which MARIKA interrupted. The black knives chose Godwyn on their own, and Ranni sacrificed herself both so she wouldn’t be a slave to the Greater Will, and so the rest of the pawns in the lands between(literally everyone you guys seem to like more than Ranni for some laughable reason 😂) could live freely. Godwyn didn’t even have a real destiny since he wasn’t an Empyrean.
@@drpepp. The game itself and lore videos probably. I know that what he's saying is at least partially true because I recognize the freeing people's fate from the outer will part. In fact I can add that the reason she needs radan dead is because he halts the stars which stops fate from happening or some weird mess. Her whole deal is separation from the outer gods. In the new dlc you learn that the fingers actually aren't even getting their information from the outer gods anyway which is why Marika is misguided and you also learn why Marika is kind of a monster to other races, she goes through some hell of her own.
We blame Ranni, but remember that Ranni was still at the beck and call to the greater will while she was an Empyrian meaning that the Greater Will wanted Godfrey done away with and would have been completely powerless to oppose it. Which is why she STOLE a fragment of the Rune of Death. I'm not of the mindset that she ordered the Assassination of Godfrey because the Black Knives answer to the 2 Fingers which themselves answer to the Greater Will. Ranni was just the Supplier. The Walter White, if you will. While Godfrey was...the Hank in this story.
I just don’t understand why out of everyplace they were like “Ssssooooooo one of our greatest Demi-gods just died….but he’s still twitching and stuff….lets bury him at the bottom of the literal most pure thing in the entire realm that is basically our heaven and is a direct representation of our gods holy light and power! Nothing could go wrong!”
I dont know if lore stops this theory or not, but i believe Godwyn was the next in line to become ethier elden lord or replace his mother as keeper of the elden ring. He was the literal golden child of the family, he was the first born, a great leader and even better warrior. He would have continued the golden order for another age under the two fingers guidance. Ranni didnt want this cause she wanted to bring the age of stars and remove all outer gods influance on the world, so she had to remove Godwyn somehow. This ritual using the rune of death was probably the only way to really kill him since he was probably one of the strongest demi gods to live
I don't think the Elden Ring is inherited through bloodlines in the way you are thinking. Any of the Emperayons were technically candidates to become gods and Marika didn't care which of her children did what so long as they made something of themselves. Godwyn was great for sure but that didn't make him any more qualified than Miquella or Malenia. The issue is that the Golden Order was never perfect and no one understood it as a whole completely not even Marika. While what Ranni did was cruel, i believe she was the only child of Radagon(was is still Marika) who thought to do something for herself instead of following some path set before her. Rykard was corrupted, Radahn followed the Golden Order, Miquella was trying to cure Malenia and couldn't with thr Golden Order, Malenia only wanted to protect Miquella, none of the omen cursed kids could even walk the surface and all were either fighting for their parents attention or subject to the will of outer gods. Personally I think she was the only one who cared to let the world exist on its own
I think what's interesting is that the Great will may have favored Ranni more. Pure speculation of circumstances but when you look at actions god of order had strange favoritism. Godwyn existed yet made Marika create more lineages. We can also see it in how they're treated: •Godwyn: the golden child •Godrick: mostly ignored and allotted luxurious nobility •mogh & morgott: banished from public eye •Rhykard: given authority over Inquisition. •Radahn: General of renown •Miquella: allowed luxurious freedom yet strangely ignored (likely his charm curse) •Malenia: praised warrior but left seperated (likely for her rot) •BUT Ranni: Princess of the allied domain yet given a warden/ hound guard and restricted to a point of extremes? This implies that while Godwyn was obvious head emperyean that Ranni may have had more raw potential. This maybe evident by her procession of a moon. Ngl dark golden moon ranni sounds pretty badass
He'd probably prevented Greyoll from getting infected in Caelid, and if the alliance with dragons extended to Placidussax, then HE would have hunted and fought Bayle.
He was the best person in all of the lands between, he could’ve brought more love and peace than miquella ever could’ve hoped too. And then Ranni came along. The first of many reasons why I hate Ranni
Godwyns Story might not end here. Depending on Miquellas Plans he may come back. And I would also be interested in Rannis reasoning to murder Godwyn in particular.
I don't think that's the whole story, when we see rykard in the opening cinematic, we see the God devouring snake eating someone with blonde hair. Which wouldn't be rykard as we see a picture of him with red hair in volcano manor. So it's my belief that rykard was in charge of body disposal for rani and fed godwyn to the snake. But something didn't take (probably the deathroot) and the snake started to godwyn out of its body, most likely having had a face like current rykard. And it is a suspicion of mine that rykard and godrick had some dealings with one of godricks grafted scions protecting the way to the volcano manor, and thus godrick willingly hid the skin of godwyn not knowing it would destroy his castle over time. Then, the shedded body was buried by the urd tree roots, hoping to kill the urd tree, and then possibly growing in size with corpse bloat, fortisax entered his dream to try and save him. Thus, this is my attempted explanation as to why godwyn looks like a snakey fish thing.
Wasn’t it Queen Marika who allowed the stealing of the rune so that the black knife assassins (female Numen who were close to Marika) can permanently kill Godwyn. Ranni just took the other half to kill her mortal coil.
Could be but ranni admits to being the one who stole the rune and forged it into the black knives that were used to kill him. The line could also be referring to the fact that the black knives gained marika's trust partially by being numen
@@rinayasi if that were true then why would she go through the hassle of having black knife assassins steal the rune of death instead of just asking for it. Keep in mind that Maliketh is her shadow bound beast, so he follows her every whim like how she wanted him to seal away destined death in the first place. It just makes no sense, which is why I think this fan theory is a bunch of hogwash.
I'm still holding out hope that we'll get SOME sort of boss battle against him in the future. I was hoping for some Miquella DLC, and look what's on the horizon :P

It's funny how everyone turned into Miquella hater as soon as the dlc came out, like yeah his methods were wrong. But the same people will gladly side with ranni who literally killed the prefect demigod Godwyn, if not for ranni, Godwyn could have been alive, high chances Marika wouldn't spiral into depression and shattered the elden ring and Godwyn who was loved by everyone would be the new God/Lord.

@@LucidStrike They could have had someone else be killed to cause the shattering, but I get it Godwyn was killed that’s that, probably not gonna see him unless we do somehow in the dlc but I doubt it anyway I was just saying it would have been cool if they didn’t kill him and we got to fight him or have some sort of quest with him maybe the assassination attempt failed and he could have been some half god half dead thing that sought revenge on ranni idk something like that, that’s all I was trying to say lol
Those who live in death exist not because of Godwyn, but because Marika that denied the death rune from the elden ring
WAIIIIT SO THAT THING AT THE DEEP ROOTS IS GODWYN??
Part of him, you can see bits of him all around The Lands Between. Even at the bottom of Stormveil Keep. He's all over but at the Roots of the Erdtree is where you'll find most of him.
Kinda. It's his body but after it has been changed and altered by death.
there's a theory that his body is in one spot where they buried him, but because his body is glitching out from the Errd Tree trying to bring something back to life that doesn't have a soul, his undead influence is being spreading where ever the roots touch, leading to his malformed face popping up in random spots
Godwyn, Radahn and Miquella were the best of demi-gods. Godwyn as the king, Radahn as commander of kingdom's army and Miquella as ther governor would be a dream for any kingdom.
Note, Morgott didn't fucking do anything. He's okay in my book.
We will see what Miquella is really up to and like in the dlc and probably learn a lot more about godwyn… we‘ll see

…Wait, Vyke banged a dragon?! Where was this lore and how did I miss it in my entire 3 playthroughs of this game?!
Technically through what was learned from SoTE, Messmer and Melina are older children of Marika
Bro was too perfect to live
And his very friend tries fighting the death but only ended up corrupting himself losing his mind
Soldiers: Beware of up.
Vyke: Lover ahead...
Godwyn the Goated. Rest in Gold respectable demi god
Ahhh Ranni “Troublemaker Smurf Doll” 🤣
Marika's sanity shattered along with the killing of Godwyn because he was her only perfect child
Ranni was basically the cause of the hole shit-show in the lands between
And that is why in my second playthrough I decidet not to become her servant and follow her questline
@@Joha733her quest is a big part of the game for the first time but now i dont really like ranni
The foundations of the Golden Order were messed up too according to the DLC. Every new age has to have some f'ed up stuff happen.
The Lands Between was already a messed up place, especially the Golden Order. They literally have a concentration camp underneath their capital city for the undesirables, and they established themselves through the near genocide of the Fire Giants.
@@Mario-SunshineGalaxy64 My poor boys Morgott and Mohg
You know, I was wondering where Fromsoft's classic "That's actually a boy" went in base Elden Ring.
I still think that the only and main reason why Ranni even targetted Godwyn in the first place was because of how capabable he was in stopping her plan all his accomplishments proves that dude was probably the strongest out of all Radagon, marikas children excepct Messmer that's another rabbit hole.
She having some fun with vyke😏
Ngl it would be awesome to go deeper into the lore of each endings through DLC.
Justice for Godwyn.
We need godwyn as a boss as a corrupted version of himself. And have more deathblight weapons and incantations
Imagine
Beating a Death Blight Dragon
Becoming friends with the dragon
Opening a new type of incantation for Leyndell
Only to get killed by a blue witch fuck
you’re telling me vyke? the insane madman, managed to smash a dragon?
Vyke: "...and that's how I met your mother."
Priscilla: "..."
I love lightning in this game, thank you Godwyn
Godwyn deserved better
I'm pissed we never get to meet healthy non-fish Godwyn. He seemed very cool.
When Godwyn was buried and deathroot started to take his body, Fortisaxx tried to protect his friend only to be corrupted himself causing him to go mad.
Out of all the demi gods ranni could have sacrificed she picked the nicest one? Why not pick Mohg? I never side with her for the ending
same, i refuse to simp for the filthy brother killer
This is why Ranni is a certified number 1 op
I don't like her at all. She's done horrible things just like the other demigods but oh, don't get me started as she was the one who instigated the shattering.
@@Envoxityi feel like even if she never did anything someone else would have especially since the revear a space parasite as I've seen a few lore channels do research on the two fingers an after they die they turn to wood an looking closely at the tree,it looks like the golden part is growing out if the tree like a fungus
@@Envoxity

And then Ranni is only dead by her flesh. Her soul is still alive
Cool video love the humour
Any Source?
I like how Godwyn whoops fortissax and they become friends….but Granssax got a big ass spear through its head
Thank you bro I haven’t seen anyone else say anything about this 👍
He is like Balder, his death start everything
The greater will when it sees a decent dude:
He actually sounds like a pretty cool guy to be around
I just don’t understand why out of everyplace they were like
“Ssssooooooo one of our greatest Demi-gods just died….but he’s still twitching and stuff….lets bury him at the bottom of the literal most pure thing in the entire realm that is basically our heaven and is a direct representation of our gods holy light and power! Nothing could go wrong!”
This is why you let chaos take the world instead of ushering in the age of stars
There is NO REASON to help those who live in death. Screw Fia, it takes more than hugs to convince me to change the whole world for worse
And if it weren’t for the death of Godwyn, the shattering would never have happened. That’s how I remember it going down.
We can also see it in how they're treated:
•Godwyn: the golden child
•Godrick: mostly ignored and allotted luxurious nobility
•mogh & morgott: banished from public eye
•Rhykard: given authority over Inquisition.
•Radahn: General of renown
•Miquella: allowed luxurious freedom yet strangely ignored (likely his charm curse)
•Malenia: praised warrior but left seperated (likely for her rot)
•BUT Ranni: Princess of the allied domain yet given a warden/ hound guard and restricted to a point of extremes?
This implies that while Godwyn was obvious head emperyean that Ranni may have had more raw potential. This maybe evident by her procession of a moon.
Ngl dark golden moon ranni sounds pretty badass
He'd probably prevented Greyoll from getting infected in Caelid, and if the alliance with dragons extended to Placidussax, then HE would have hunted and fought Bayle.
So that’s the creepy thing at the end of every catacomb
Vyke doing the I trained a dragon meme
It took me like a year to figure out that giant fish creature was Godwyn, I spent days just googling but no one would tell me.
"his body was very mich alive just inoperatable" Idk man, that sounds like dead to me.
He was the best person in all of the lands between, he could’ve brought more love and peace than miquella ever could’ve hoped too. And then Ranni came along. The first of many reasons why I hate Ranni
Fortisaax also tried to help Miquella to give Godwyn a true death, their plan however failed and Fortisaax die and became a Lichdragon :(
I think it’s better Godwyn died, even if people don’t agree. Elden Ring basically wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for his death.
Not all can bathe in the light of a good world sacrifices must be made
Ok, that closeup of his eyw goes insanely hard
Godwyn and Radahn did nothing wrong and suffered the worst fates for it
So Godwyn followed the teachings of Sensei Wu.
“The best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend.”
my beef w ranni is eternal long live the frenzied flame
now we know that placidusax created dragon cult
This is why my character shit on ranni quest every run. Godwyn ftw.
Cant wait for the DLC to reveal (hopefully) If Ranni is the bad guy pretending or if she just did what was necessary.
Godwyn was the gojo of Elden ring. Bro was probably so built he had be assinated and caught off guard
Godwyns Story might not end here. Depending on Miquellas Plans he may come back. And I would also be interested in Rannis reasoning to murder Godwyn in particular.
She might now have specified him. But if she did, it was probably because he was pretty literally the Golden Child.
They both really said “GG”
Justice for Godwyn😢
That’s not confirmed, it’s only just headcanon.
@@Doommarine-sr8y I dont think marika ordered the death of godwyn. Ranni straight up admits to being the one who stole the fragment of destined death.
