- Raisina Dialogue 2023 | Together, India and Bangladesh will motivate an entrepreneur-led economy and set the development agenda for an entire region. Their experience in poverty reduction, women-led growth, and governance innovation will help propagate new models of bottom-up policy design relevant for the Global South. Greater integration between their economies will allow for new models of trade and investment; together, the two countries can also reshape the connectivity map of the region by catalysing sustainable investment into quality infrastructure.
As growth models are shaped by the region for the region, this high-level discussion will consider how this crucial "double-engine" partnership can strengthen institutional arrangements in the region to ensure widespread prosperity.

As someone from Kolkata, I can surely say I am proud of my Bengali brethren on the other side of the border. In the Indian subcontinent, Bangladesh is our only hope. When we are watching other countries around us struggle, Bangladesh is soaring ahead and in GDP/capita it is competing with India. Sometimes they are ahead, sometimes we are ahead.
We want more trade, more connectivity, more people to people ties & more defence ties so that we can both push forward the entire region out of poverty. I hope we can both work together to increase connectivity and trade with other subcontinent nations in Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Maldives. I do not have hopes from Pakistan & Afghanistan that their societies will be progressive in the next 50 years.
May we overcome the challenges in the relationship & we all move forward together and prosper. May the fanatics on both side of the border never win.
Jai Hind. Jai Bangla.
Thanks mate. From Bangladesh
There is no duplicity iregarding water sharing by India as upper riperian because China as upper riperian to India does not have any water sharing agreement with India while India has shown magnanimity in signing into water sharing agrrenents of major rivers (Indus with Pakistan and Ganga with Bangladesh) both lower riperians, Pakistan and Bangladesh. So India can not be equated with China when it comes to water sharing.
i think india need to relook at those old water treaties, esp with 'enemy nations' .
Indian Army under PM Indira Gandhi saved us in 1971.

Bangladesh and india have great future together.
india needs Bangladesh to have a good future.
Bangladesh is doing great! Just need some push and influx of development. We can push blue dot and EU investment to Bangladesh. Which will make the region prosperous.
I see good future in East. Although west of India is problematic.
You mean FAKEstan ? 😄🤣
West of India, consists of Mumbai, which is established as "Powerhouse of Indian economy "

Who will keep eye on respective currency trading. Respective currency trade will bring lot of problems.
The immediate task is to start planning train connectivity of all bimstec nations.
India must do everything to keep Bangladesh with us. it should no go the way of Maldives of Sri Lanka. China will do everything possible to meddle into this. it cannot be allowed.
No, I think nobody should do any thing to keep anybody with us.. Only if they see virtue in relationship then they should be with us.. THere is no point in appeasement that too when temples are being destroyed there..

Well said representatives of Bangladesh. You started from 1971, when Bangladesh was born. But a lot comes from your past. Introspect & churn, why in 1947, East Bengalis did not push for Independence, rather they opted for slavery under Punjabi Muslims. They rioted, killing their own, on the call of Jinnah, who was a non-Bengali & non-Indian.
Bengal faced absence of capable Bangla speaking leadership back then
@@TZovro Precise introspection, and appreciate you for accepting truth. Not withstanding, greats like Mujib are born out of such situation. Except for Sheikh Hasina, you people face the same situation, you people are without leadership again. So, being independent from last 53 years, and surrounded by a amicable neighbor, India, many such greats should have born by now. Introspect again, what is the missing link.
@@bkashim Leaders like Bangabandhu is the most suitable for Bengal, like his daughter he is the norm. Alternative to them are the less popular leaders who cannot preserve their power against the stronger secular base without using Islam as a ladder and cannon fodder. Right after assassination of Bangabandhu they rehabilitated those treacherous pro-Pak elements to garner more power base. They knew that the weakness of the Bangali muslims is Islam.
But the problem is, neither Pakistan nor the pro-Pak elements in BD project the real Islamic teachings. They distort the teachings, values of Islam and rile up one Bangalee against another. Eventually it results in persecution of religious minorities, which in turn makes the international community weary of our internal situation and at the end slows down our economy.
Had there been any leader like Bangabandhu since 1947, we could have preserved our secular democratic culture since the beginning, free from those pro-Pakistani pseudo-religious threats and could have more suitable leaders who do not need to exploit the religion
@@TZovro Make modern education with moral science a strong base. Remember, most of the European countries made education their base even when their infrastructure was destroyed. They had no schools, but they taught the kids under trees as shelter. It took 10 years for change over. Off late the East European countries. In Bangladesh you get a fillip if you close down the madarsas. They are the source of Pakistani ingress. Its well known that, topping once in class is easier than to sustain at top. If you earned independence, then you need to sacrifice to sustain it.
@@TZovro I have been telling this repeatedly in most of the you tube posts. Past West Bengal towards West in India or South East Asia, everybody expects to sleep with a Bengali girl. 1947 and then 1971 has been the reason of this. Sheikh did great to make his nation Independent, he was in fact God sent. But his great act was hammered by a brutal force with his murder. His legacy must go on & on. Bengali intellectual especially, must apply their brain and brawn to mitigate. Now see, Bangladesh is a Muslim nation, but most of the Muslim countries in West, consider them to be of lower order. India is Hindu country, but Muslims in Bangladesh alienate them. War for Independence started with the language, so the Bangladeshis are different in this south east asia. So why not shun religion, and make a new identity as a developed nation as a Scandinavian country, truthful and kind to lackness of others.
Bangladesh should first look inside on issues of hindus. Radical elements are given free hand. Why no action? Can these sweet talking advocates explain? Secondly, Bangladesh should stop lecturing on shared culture...it was islamic fanaticism that led to partition.

The Western new Missionaries - the Vatican recently made apologies for their predecessors - like labour and human rights activists made it a point to build their own profile and career by using Bangladesh as an international punching bag.
This was such a cringe fest. The reality between India Bangladesh is not of co-operation, instead it's soft colonialism. Free transit to the Indian southeast from Central India is allowed through Bangladesh while Bangladeshi exports to India is severely restricted. In terms of water sharing, Bangladesh is deprived of its right to water. There is an excellent paper by Asif Nazrul on this. I myself have seen this effect in my region of Dinajpur/, Rangpur through which the Teesta River flows. The whole ecological balance has changed.
Ideologically speaking secularism is a form of imposition on the 99% Muslim population of Bangladesh. Practising Muslims believe morality comes from Allah and the quran while secular liberalism is just a watered down version of the Bible. As for what Bangladeshis think of the Indian government just look at the protests when Modi visited. We do not have problems with Hindus or Hinduism but completely oppose Hindutva.
The level of dishonesty and the shameless of defense of the awami league and India is absolutely sickening. Despite their mediocrity I must commend them on their bootlicking skills, apparently that is the only skill that can take you far in this country.
Okay Razakar bhai. Bangladesh's size is smaller than India. So how can Bangladesh challenge India? Why would it when working together both can become rich and prosper? Pakistan with 220 million people & nuclear weapons have tried it and failed. Now even they want trade to open with India. Can Korea challenge China? If US moves out, can Japan challenge China? The point is in geopolitics their is always a bigger power and a smaller power. Even India has to manage it's relationship with US, China and Russia and accept terms of trade they do not want. This is normal in global politics. No need for jealousy.
@@rpnrko3612 Bangladesh is not working with India. Bangladesh has been colonised by India. It seems you can only come up with ad hominem attacks calling me a razakar but the hypocrisy is you have no problems selling your own sovereignty to another country. The fact you couldn't refute any of my points proves that you are Modi's bootlicker. You have completely lost any rational faculties and it is impossible for you to even fathom how to have an equal relationship between 2 nations. If everyone in Bangladesh spoke and acted as shamelessly and cowardly like you we would still be serving Pakistanis. Here's some advice if you can't oppose your daddy India then go ahead and lick their boots clean but get out of the way of the people who are fighting for our nation's sovereignty.
Arafat should be one of our ministers. Hope he gets elected as a parliament member in next general election and chosen by winning awami league government for an important cabinet post. As a citizen, this is my wish.
Why do you want to see him as a member of the cabinet? What has he accomplished for Bangladesh?By the way he is good, liking who those in power .

Easy. He is educated, intelligent, right attitude. He believes in Bangladesh’s success. We need to have our best people in leadership to take our country forward.
@healthmoneylove418 Even the most intelligent, well-educated, and positive individual can not guarantee national prosperity. Honesty, altruism, apathy, generosity, munificence, indifference, self-control, and selflessness. Unfortunately, aside from a select few, we don't have the appropriate people in politics to put them in the right place where they can bring prosperity to the nation.
@@fahadazad7646
You have a long list to qualify as a leader! But we got to be practical.
As we become a developing country, our leaders need to be interacting with international community more than before, understand how to lead a nation to compete with other countries to bring prosperity. Like in a football game, our team needs to have the best we got. Awami league has a tendency to attract best of us to their side.
I question your level of understanding regarding Bangladesh (kindly don't offended) Bangladesh is a developing country, which is why our educated politicians compare it to Singapore. Go ahead and estimate the percentage of the population that is living in poverty on your own. Don't equate a country's success with a football game; long-term planning is necessary and the proper course of action requires.

Bangladesh has to get matured and do away with Imperialistic Islamic onslaught on its land which has taken an ugly extremist form, Dharma has to be studied understood and embodied by the governments in our region.
What an irony taste your own medicine 💊
I think just like Germany got united. After the collapse of berlin wall, similarly, west bengal must unite with east bengal as part of United States of India.
Never, if Bangladesh sticks to Islamic rules, and continue tormenting minorities especially Hindus. Example of Gemany getting United, shall not follow here, as the separation there was on admistrative and WW2 background. Bengal was partitioned on religious ground, especially on the call of a nonbengali-nonindian named Jinnah. Not just that, Bengali killed Bengali, on the call of Jinnah and his collaborator, Sohravardy. The Muslims killed all in the family and raped the ladies. Their intent was different. Such a decimating thought, speech and act, was not the attitude and form in Germans. Let the wall of separation of Bengal dividing Hindus and Muslims be permanent, until the East Bengal convert to their original religion, of Aadi-Sanatan.
