Theses Indians who say that the Brics cannot be anti west seem to turn a blind eye to the most obvious fact that most countries trying to join the Brics understand, except thos 'smart' Indian intellectuals who seem to ignore the fact that most of the predicaments that presently afflict the Global South is a consequence in many cases of willful, malicious actions taken by the West in complete disregard of their own stated values. If those Indians seem to ignore the obvious, then maybe they have a hidden agenda which doesn't align with the Global South and they should step aside or consider forming their own international institution to get all similar minded countries on their side. That's most likely what will happen as more powerful players who understand India's stance more closely join the Brics. The Brics is destined for greatness with or without the presence of India !!!

As an Indian, the problem with India is Stockholm syndrome, it's absolutely pathetic, our education system is to blame for this. India loves bootlicking white nations. That's the reason so many Indians love USA and Europe so much. India now is becoming a problem nation in brics. My country India has no backbone and self respect despite how patriotic some Indians try to appear online, they will sell their family for a US green card, trust me. I hope BRICS does prosper without India, since US hegemony is clearly evil, trying bomb innocents in Iraq Vietnam Lybia Afghanistan etc. USA hegemony can't be allowed to continue.

As a Taiwanese, we did enjoyed very good relationship with China during 2008-2016. Things has changed since a Pro-independence party took over in 2016. So don't blame China alone. As to the border dispute between India and China, While Russia and China can settle their century-long border dispute in 2001, why can't you guys in the future?

The fact that China n Russia were able to settle their long border dispute has proven that China is not the problem. The culprit is greedy India wanting to land grab that doesn't belong to her.

The question of an anti-western vs non-western stance was not adequately answered. Each panelist skipped over the fact that western governments (and the US in particular) are the ones that typically brand - and then treat - entities that are not pro-western as anti-western. With BRICS officials stating clearly the non-western stance (listen to Minister Naledi Pandor's talks), western officials have, nonetheless, already begun branding BRICS as being squarely against the west.
Western entities have also begun serious efforts to undermine BRICS. Such efforts include dangling both threats and bribes over the smallest member of BRICS, South Africa.
These efforts to undermine BRICS also include repeated attempts to drive wedges between member states, particularly India and China. Note that this relationship is seen as low hanging fruit due to exploitable pre-existing tensions between the two AND due to the India having, let's be honest, a bit of Stockholm Syndrome (as also alluded to by one of the panelists). This relationship is also exploitable because India tends to do less to defend its information space than does China. My Indian friends have, demonstrably, been more impacted and influenced than my Chinese friends. Hopefully, neither are influenced as such going forward.
So, the more helpful and realistic answer is: No matter how BRICS brands itself, many western entities have already deemed BRICS as anti-western and WILL make every attempt to undermine BRICS.

If India has so much doubt about BRICS. it should get out. I think India actually desperately wants to be a part of G7. India should ask them to take them in and become G8.

I can not though stand opposed to sanctions, both multi & unilateral completely, particularly of groups who are suppressing humans within their influence, for example North Korea.
This transition, induced by academic revelations these last few hundred years, is challenging.
