Yea, advanced watermarking is implemented in various large companies as a way to track leaks, sometimes down to the individual that did so. Often times in the case of sensitive information, that isn't limited to product leaks(can be finance, employee info, security, etc).
Some video games also use this to identify the player profile even if they try to hide the nametag
Watermark isn't necessarily the traditional kind. It can be a code of pixels shifted in the image, or minute variances in the shade of color (easy to test with a program that already knows what it is looking for, near impossible for a person or a program that doesn't already know "the code / format")

The retail normal price of the PS5 slim with the disc drive is €550 (tax included), but you can easily find it for €480 at all the major retailers, and even Sony itself frequently puts it on sale at that price.
So I predict that the PS5 Pro with disc will be €550. And if they want to be sneaky it will be €550 without the disc, but no more than that.

Realistically, this is roughly what I was expecting and it makes financial sense from a business point of view. It has to be competitively priced while offering real world improvements.
Obviously, with faster memory offering more bandwidth, this will help with an overall uplift of performance way beyond the seemingly small cpu increase, and coupled with pssr we should see a bigger performance uplift than the basic specs suggest.
There seems to be a lot of confusion with how a system performs as a whole. People look at cpu or amount of memory and come to some widely silly conclusions.

Zen 2 can easily do much more than that, i was expecting 4 Ghz for the base PS5 back in the day, if even the Pro cant even hit that its gonna be really bad. Eariler leaks suggested like 4.4-4.5 Ghz for the Pro and thats a huge difference.

And the CPU? STILL Zen 2??? I haven't believed that rumor either. I didn't believe that PS5P would be anything less than RDNA 4 based on when it was coming out and I SAID that when Sony launched the PS5 they did with a brand new graphics gen from AMD, that Sony worked on WITH AMD, and it would have made no sense to use RDNA 3 for Sony to work with AMD on. If they were going to put engineering hours into something I felt it would be new.
It also doesn't make sense to use Zen 2. It should at least be Zen 3 which has better IPC and games better. And I can't figure out why SONY would WANT to use Zen 2 for a new game console, a NEW PRODUCT, and use Zen 2, when Zen 5 is about to come out. It makes the console look OLD when someone reads the specs.
Also. it's X86-64. It makes NO DIFFERENCE to a program that's compiled for X86-64 if you're using Zen 2 or Zen 4, UNLESS for instance Zen 4 has extensions that Zen 2 didn't in WHICH case the NEWER CPU would be better to use. Zen 4 for instance has AVX-512 extensions. A compiler can take advantage of that and spit out code that's slightly different for Zen 4 vs. Zen 2 as long as the compiler is programmed to understand that Zen 4 has those extensions. But all that is the COMPILER. Game devs don't deal with this. They write code in high level languages, not machine language or Assembler.
This ALSO means the very thing I said before, which is you can't look at compute units and get any kind of idea for how powerful the PS5 will be for graphics because we don't know the GPU generation. A compute unit of RDNA 2 is not the same as RDNA 3 which won't be the same as RDNA 4. You need a baseline before you can start making predictions on frame rates, etc......
Most of us knew that RDNA 4 HAD to make a big jump in RT performance or Nvidia would bury AMD and Intel would start to cut into AMD's marketshare because believe it or not RT is a big deal. It's what game devs, or I should say their BOSSES want to use because it takes less time. Time is money.
The question is, is the IP that is going into making these custom APUs belong to AMD to where they can use it across their RDNA 4 stack? Sony did a lot of work with improving RT performance , so it could be shared IP and AMD has permission to use it, or it could be mostly Sony's IP and AMD can only use it for Sony's APUs.

      @johndoh5182 5 месяцев назад +1

@@jose131991 I don't know enough about the Jaguar CPUs to know why that happened. What I do know is there is NO SUCH THING as a compatibility issue with X86-64 UNLESS you move BACK to an older CPU that doesn't have the same extensions for instruction sets. There is nothing inside a Zen 2 CPU that a Zen 3 CPU won't do. And it's not that an older CPU can't do pretty much the same thing, it's that the compiler, for which Sony has nothing to do with, will compile different code when there are differences in the instruction sets. It also means the execution of that segment of code will be slower. But this ONLY applies to NEW extensions. Zen 2/3 are exactly the same. The only difference I know for Zen 4 is AVX-512 extensions. But that doesn't create an issue for games compiled for Zen 2. It would only have an effect going backwards from Zen 4 to Zen 2
So, try to describe a situation where you think there will be a compatibility issue and I'll tell you why you're wrong. It's X86-64 ISA one way or the other. There is NO voodoo magic involved.

It’s just not worth it. What they want, is something that is going to run GTA VI a little bit better? Maybe some of their first party games will look a little little better. The issue being that, like anything else… Third-party developers are the mainstay as far as game releases. Third-party developers are not going to waste the time and energy, developing for a system that is going to only be bought by a small percentage of people. They might up the resolution or frame rate, but aren’t going to take full advantage of it.
I like Microsofts idea in starting the next generation early since this one was essentially a bust, and the next needs to be a leap from what is to what will be. The latest technologies, AI acceleration, raytracing acceleration and a huge leap in CPU and GPU power. I am thinking they are going to go ARM with backwards compatibility to x86. Which, as shown for Apple devices, has made a huge uptick in computing power. I am also wondering if they aren’t going to do the same for the GPU.
As, the way they are talking… They want something that is a generational leap. Like the original Xbox or Xbox 360. something that you are immediately going to see the difference between games from the prior generation and the next. Now, Moore’s Law tells us that it is unlikely… But, the current generation of consoles have been really just an iteration. So I think with the move to ARM, they can unleash a power that is a significant leap as opposed to what came before.
We will see. As, it seems we are always promised this… But it really hasn’t happened in a significant way for a while. As I always say, we are simply playing higher resolution version of games we played 20 years ago. until gameplay, physics and AI catch up to the visuals… We are simply just fondling higher resolutions with no real change to the way we play.

If raytracing hardware in the GPU ist more modern it probably won't have such a great impact on the CPU as well. Also its a console. If it were a windows PC i would complain about the old CPU. That said the games will all have to run on PS5 as well, so a much stronger CPU doesn't make too much sense. 60fps is possible for most modern games on PS5, only the graphics and image quality ist hurting with taht framerate. i guess PS5 Pro will solve that image quality problem (with upscaling too, thats just part of our new gaming world).

I mean that's just a fact. More gpu power will be better obviously but it can't account for poor optimization that many games seem to get continually released with. The technology ideally should get to a point where it can run all games at 40-45 fps minimum while the benchmark should always 60fps and above the problem is that's easier said than done it seems.

I thought this was the whole point of this PRO version. Yeah for better ray-tracing and visuals sure, but I thought just as a big a priority was higher frame rates. So these games won't be able to do 60 fps ?
