32 years ago, Pearl Jam Ten was the first grunge album I bought. Still listenin to this guys in 2023. I went to see their concert in Singapore on Friday, March 3rd, 1995. Eddie Vedder and David Grohl the 2 classiest guys in the business always putting their heart and soul in their performances thats why they're both in the Hall, keep rockin on boys!!!
People commenting on his voice are off IMO. Dude is what 53 here. There is barely anyone at 53 past or present who can sing even close to how they could 20-30. He is actually closer than most. Well sung.

woosh...unexpectedly got me with that kind mention to Michael J. Fox at the beginning. Killer tune, killer performance from one of the great live bands i've ever seen.
Well, being a man with a debilitating uncureable disease, when he yelled "F***ers WE still stand!" I lost it. People have no idea how simple standing is, but how hard it can be for some. F***ing stand up, people! Stand for what YOU KNOW is right. Keep going. Never give up. I'll see you on the other side.
COOL BEANZZZ for them to do this 💚💚💚👏👏👏 Unfortunately, my 61 year old husband was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease 😭😭😭 I think it’s great he’s dedicating this strong and heartfelt song. 💚💚💚
An awesome tribute to MJF from Eddie, .... I wish the PJ live performance would be true to the tempo of the original from Yield.... the slower laid back is ingrained in my brain, and envokes a more prophetic resonance, a wider emperical interpretation, and allows Eddies voice to deliver that raw emotion we love.... anyway just my opinion of an awesome song :)
Learn then what the human is and never fear the truth. You will then literally fly beyond the world. Your reality isn't the body. You can find out the most incredible to find on this world.
Granted that 99.999999% of professional singers worldwide would give an arm to sing as wonderfully and intensely and ultimately beautifully as Eddie does here... my first thought was that maybe 20 years old unbelievably gifted singer shouldn't strain so much because when they will be +50 they won't be able to reproduce that. I also think Cameron speeded it up way too much! Anyway, what a masterpiece of a song!
False. Mike opens the tempo to the song. Matt comes in after. Blame Mike if you must. Matt is a pro as they all are, if they wanted it slower they would play it slower.
I was just looping the original recorded song a million times, as it is one of my favorite songs of this band, and I came here to listen to this version (which I had never heard before until now)… It *immediately* struck struck me that Eddie is not gonna be able to sing professionally much longer whilst listening to this (and honestly is pushing it by singing in the show). He is struggling so much, and it barely replicates the original at this point. It breaks my heart because he is a beautiful person and has given so much of himself in so many performances. Unfortunately, amazing singers like this have only so many years that they can sing their heart out, like he has been doing for most of his life at this point. He is in the final stages of that, but we should be thankful that he is at least still trying to give it his all. It is obvious that so much of this song has been lowered in octaves because he can’t sing the higher ones way that he used to, and can’t keep notes steadily like he used to. This isn’t to put him down, because he is human, like we all are, and he has had one hell of a career! There isn’t a human on this earth that can sing as they age like they can when they were younger (much less sing at the level he did in his prime for so many years!)... and the fact he was able to for so long is absolutely impressive af. I saw many shows of theirs in the early 2000’s, which was passed their “prime” already, and each and every show was mind blowing! Eddie is a legend and I applaud him for still going on the stage at this point. It is a little bit ironic that this was tribute it to Michael J Fox, who has been struggling with a physical problem for sometime now. Eddie can’t help that his voice is failing him now. He is now starting the sing like the rest of us normal plebs, so join the club, brother heh.
I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree on this one. This was three years ago. Look up some shows from this year, you will come to find out that he's still very much kicking. That's of course beside the momentarily hiccup due to the heat. You make it sound like doomsday's coming for Eddie, which of course is not the case. While I do agree that the man has aged, he's still giving it his all and manages to hit even the higher parts of the songs. My guess is that he will still be giving out over the top vocals for the next 10 years or so. Peace
@@lordus7531 Wrong. He is not hitting the notes correctly. Like I said, he sang the high notes in much in lower octaves precisely because he can’t hit those high notes anymore, and he wasn’t able to hold notes steadily like he used to be able to do. It doesn’t matter that he is trying his best - trying to “sing his heart out.“ The fact is that he is simply not able to sing properly anymore. He should be retired at this point with how much his voice has declined. I am merely being honest, and it’s clear you don’t want to face the truth.
@Anti - Ethnic Cleansing Alright dude, seems like you have no idea what you're talking about. What do you even mean "he sang the high notes in much lower octaves"? Let me fill you in. The original recording is in the key of G but modulates to the key of D in the verses. The live recording is not even downtuned, it is still in those keys. The highest note in the verse is G4, both in the recording and live, and he manages to hit it just fine. If you're at least a bit familiar with Pearl Jam discography, most of the songs stay within G2 to G4, which is the vocal range of a baritone (which Eddie is). That being said, even if Eddie did not hit the notes in the higher register, it would be no reason to retire. Now that I've proven he's still managing to hit those notes, what is your point for his retirement and why do you care so much?

Jack made this song legendary and at this very moment he could've shone the most, they gave it to Cameron and he kept butchering it like he's been doing. Sad, this could've been the moment where Jack's magic would refresh us. The band should've gave us at least one solo performance with each drummer especially Dave A and Jack Irons. They were a huge part in most of their hits and live performance. They deserved at least those moments instead of being too Mattcentric. I appreciate deeply that they played Alive with Krusen.
