I appreciate your honesty man. It goes to show even if you spend a good chunk of change you can still come across interior wear and some quality control. Often the picture gets painted that more you spend = it’s always better in every form or fashion. Very surprised to see about how easy the leather wears in this car but once again I appreciate your honesty. I Drive a Stinger GT AWD and even that car at 50k people complain about small things and I’ll be honest the leather and bolster wear in mine isn’t as bad as what you’re dealing with and I’m at 48k miles (still low in the grand scheme of things but still) You have a great personality and I appreciate your honest review, and pointed out some flaws.

    • @MrGravloc

Thats the deal with high end materials . They are nicer , better to the touch but wear MUCH faster . RSPECIALLY IF YOU WEAR DENIM , Jeans are rough sliding in and out on soft materials .The Bolsters and seats in my 2019 Hyundai GT N line look perfect ( pretty nice seats) but they are made of less supple material . I prefer the " lesser material " , I dont notice it when Im driving or caress my seats much and would prefer better wearing then soft leather that wears in 20K like i have on my nicer cars . Cheaper seats look a little cheaper new but LOOK BETTER in just couple years and DONT WEAR AT ALL in some cases , so give me stiffer leather or fake leather.
Higher end car interiors of any brand always wear more then less 3expensive cars in general . Just fine leather clothes and shoes scratch and wear faster the less expensive leather . Had baby deer skin Dan Post Boots that fit like socks and beautiful. but scratched if they touched carpet and 25 wears and they are essentially ratty looking , they are not knock around shoes and rich people can afford new clothes like changing underwear.
The bubbling dash is a pure defect and a BAD on GMs part , that is a defect.
But the finer the materials the worse they look with wear. Suede interior stuff gets gross and looks like shit quick as well . price you pay for being swanky and your supposed to get a new car every 2-3 years if your monied, thats why ,money people lease and always have new cars .

Really useful video for this C6 owner looking to eventually go to a C8. While I have been delighted with the reliability of my car (and it is no garage queen), I think the interior of the C7 is much nicer and the C8 a step above that. The issues with the C8 here seem to be pretty minor if you look at costs of running a true exotic but GM really should have had those struts covered! There have been issues with wheels on wide-body C7s and auto transmissions in them so it is really good to have a video like this pointing out potential problems in the C8. Thanks!

One thing I’ve noticed with Corvettes, I’ve owned 8, is you never buy the first year of any generation or upgrade like a Z06. There’s a learning curve for Corvette’s and GM works the bugs out of the car usually by the second year of the generation. I was also told by my dealer on my C8 to get the brake in tranny fluid out of the transmission after 2000 miles. GM recommends 7000 miles but I had both engine and trans oil changed at 2000 miles.

Aside from obviously being faster it felt just as good as my GS. It's plenty enough fast for me and rides super smooth with the continental DWS extreme contact tires. It is not easy to get in a controlled slide. Generally you do not want to do that in a mid-engined vehicle due the weight distribution. With less grip on the front tires, and more on the rear it can bite much more violently, doubly so if you experience understeer from it.

1lt-2lt dash boards on C7 and C8s usually don't bubble up or warp/shrink (because its synthetic) The real stuff is nice but nobody including Ferrari has figured out how to make the real leather last. Another big problem that applies to any car from any manufacturer when it comes to interior wear is body sweat and the natural oils from one's body building up on surfaces over time. Combine that with the heat from direct and indirect sunlight and you will accelerate the wear process. Best solutions is investing in great microfiber towels, interior detail solutions and 20-30 minutes of free time every so often (depending on how often you use the car) I have a c7 with 35k miles and leather, plastic and finishes are holding up very well.

I am actually eyeing a new Lotus Emira pretty heavily…power is enough, looks way better, and true 3 pedals…

P.S. the Z was a phenomenal driver though, and surprisingly practical for daily driving…just, over all spent the most of any car I’ve owned on breakage. Dropped a valve at 50 k miles, rear diff gone at 70k, and a ton of little stuff, a ton…

Great info and Yes Ciocca in Atlantic City NJ used to be called Kerbecks I put my deposit down in Sept 9 mo's ago there . I have a C5 had a trans rebuild but at 110k miles, scares me that there are all these trans issues . Let me ask you this can the wifi and on star be disabled from the infotainment screen? I get headaches when siting close to wifi and other wireless so rather turn that off , I was able to turn it off in a loaner 2020 Camaro when my C5 was in the shop . Can you turn it off in the C8? If not I may go with the 1LT since I believe it has less wireless junk then the 2LT
Thanks for any in put or info

      @Wheelr  3 года назад

I would love to give a recommendation, however, I don't have a large amount of driving experience in the 2LT to be able to tell you if there is a large difference in interior quality. As far as I'm aware, the materials are the exact same. Just the placement of certain leather pieces, I.E the dash, are different between 2LT and 3LT. I believe the wear problem would be similar with either tier.

I have a 2020 Corvette C8 in Torch Red with 11k miles with zero issues so far. I only take mine out on the weekends depending on weather. The only thing I've done to it are oil changes which are super easy to do and the DCT filter change in which I must admit, I did it at around 10k miles when it should've been done at 7500 miles as per the manual. But then I've experienced no issues with the trans and actually shifted smoother.

@maxsergio13 My 2020 C8 2LT Z51 is at 39k miles to this day and the indicator on the dash says the transmission fluid is at 11% life left. Never encountered any issues and my car is driven on my weekends ONLY. Yes, I have to change out the fluid soon which I'll do in my own garage since I have experience with DCTs, but you should be good with yours for a long while depending on how often you plan on driving it.

Dealers won’t haggle at the moment. They know someone will buy the car if you don’t. They have no incentive to sell it to you for your price because they can charge 10k more to someone who will walk in the door tomorrow and buy it.

In case you didn't hear, the President of GM send out an email to all dealerships saying that they aren't allowed to markup the msrp of the c8s. So if your dealership is telling you you'll have to pay them 30K extra you can report them to corporate. Then not only will you not have to pay that extra cash but GM will actually be penalizing the dealerships on top of that.

    • @brentblevins8219

GM isn't gonna do shit... Why? Cause dealers have to buy the cars from GM. GM is already getting their money and if that dealer has a large influx of fools buying it at mark up price... that dealer is going to keep buying corvettes from GM. Don't let these corporate shills fool you.. GM won't do a thing as long as they are backed up on orders.

Just a hunch....and I know this is a 2 year old video....but my guess is that since your car was actually built in 2019 (pre covid)....it didn't suffer from all the crap that production went through during the pandemic. Those 2021 and 2022's were all in that strange window where parts and manufacturing were being affected. I'd guess the 2023s and 2024s now are probably better. Just guessing.

I have tracked both C8 and C7 Z06. C8 is much more refined, grip and handling substantially better than C7 and much easier car to handle. C7 Z06 is a wild stallion, not everyone can handle it or take advantage of what it can offer. More experienced drivers I've talked to prefered the C8. I prefer the GT350 .

For some, the C8 is the only attainable vette. With the Z06 or ZR1 variants, you're going to be looking at much larger price points than the 60k the C8 starts at. Not to mention the wait times for the Z06 and ZR1. Orders go in for the Z06 this summer and deliveries likely won't take place til first Q1 of 2023, and that's if you're early on the list. Most deliveries will be throughout 2023 and into 2024. For the ZR1 you're probably looking at 2024-25 minimum by the time customers are actually receiving their cars.
