I love the current stagnation of mobile chipset power. It feels good to basically do anything on a 3 to 4 year old phone.
We have come to a point where (if you're not a 100% power user) even 5-6 year old phones still serve well. Take a look at the iPhone 7/8 series or SD835+ phones with LineageOS. I hope the stagnation keeps on going another two years, as that would animate software developers to write faster and more efficient code.

It's like Jiren vs Goku comparision, Android 17 is tsmc and the OEM's would be Frieza showing partial support.Let's see how long will Mediatek's UI magic work.

Last August, I upgrade from a 3.5yr old SD820 phone to a Dimensity1200 phone, and I've been loving it thus far!! I wish MTK had upgraded to the G78 GPU as well alongwith the A78 CPU, but even if it's the older G77, it's still decently powerful & still better than everything in its price range!
Only thing that's needed is that the OEM not screw up & actually optimise the software (HRR for example), but I can't expect much from Chinese OEMs, so yeah.

MediaTek phones are known for great price-to-performance ratios, but long-term software and security support is where they fall short. I hope the Dimensity 9000 and later will change that, because Qualcomm's offerings are becoming more expensive with each passing day, and non-Snapdragon phones still have poorer emulator support, and Qualcomm needs to have an Intel moment.

If MediaTek offers their chip at a really good price, then they may expand well this year.

@@divyamthakur Only if you include CN and India. At EU & US, in short regions we could actually benefit from it's market share are barely using any MediaTek chips.

Dimensity 9000 is a great SoC from Mediatek, as much as it sounds weird to say that lol. But nhf against MTK for making low-mid end chips for years because they outdone themselves this time. And great work btw, i am so glad you are providing this kind of content - it is much needed. I would wish you test Exynos 2100 so that you can do a comparison to upcoming Exynos 2200 and the rest of the flagship SoC's. Thx and keep it up!

Mediatek doesn't release source code, so there will be less customisation and optimisation options. Having the best hardware doesn't mean anything if it can't run apps properly. My first two phones were mediatek. The second one was a decacore. After 18 months, no system updates and no custom ROM options. The few updates I did get, made the device worse, forcing me to rollback to the initial android version. I have been using a snapdragon 845 device for the past 4 years, and it's still performs as well, if not better than when I got it. I only had to replace the battery once during this period.
