Chasing TTI Railroad - 10/10/15

- TTI Railroad based out of Paris, KY is one of the last strongholds for classic GE power. Owned by parent company CSX, Transkentucky Transportation Incorporated currently rosters five active B36-7 locomotives and one active U28B locomotive, plus a host of other GEs used as parts donors at the shop in Paris.
In this video, you'll see a matching quartet of TTI's B36-7 locomotives lead a loaded coal train north to the barge transloader on the Ohio River in Maysville, where they'll quickly switch the coal loads out for rock empties before heading back south to Paris. You'll hear the deep-throated gurgle of GE's Dash-7 series as they assault eastern Kentucky's hills and valleys.
In 2014, TTI only ran two trains the entire year due to decreased demand for coal. So far this year, a coal contract and a rock contract have kept the railroad busy, but it's rumored that they are both about to expire and the railroad may become idle once again. Shoot what you have while you have it, because it could be gone in an instant! Авто/Мото
Thanks for the post. Brought back a lot of memories.
Just received my TTI engines from rapido great models
Rodney Stewart I just ordered #5911 tonight. It’s a beautiful locomotive
@@johnathanlewis7059 yes I ordered two and they stand out great engines
I missed my shot. My dad used to work the yard at Maysville. Wonder if we will ever get another production run?
@@gravesclay It would be great and have more numbers
One of the TTI locomotives, No. 260 was donated to the Illinois Railway Museum in Summer 2019.
Evan, great footage! I lived in Paris for brief spell when I was a young boy. Beautiful scenery!
love that old school power. nicely edited and produced too. well done and thanks.
That's real railroading at it's finest!!!
what a beautiful video. So smooth and clear. I have never seen the TTI, so its like being there. Thank you for sharing a fantastic video.
Great piece of work, Evan! Glad you've corrected the exposure problem on the Phantom.
Sweet video! I love the paint scheme!
Thank you for the video! Pure enjoyment.
I was at Lewisburg just outside Maysville around 2005 when they had the big derailment with the loaded coal train. I took pictures of it but no video. They let me get right up there and take some cool shots.
Those blue & white TTI engines are cool lookin.
Used to
Fantastic run-by locations.
Most of the GE B36-7's are now working for TTI
as well as 1 on ALL and 24 on FCA/VL!.
A really great video.
Very nice video!
Wait a minute...369 views...and only 24 likes! Superb production Evan. Dash 7 locomotives and a Leslie 5 chime make for one heck of an enjoyable 19 minutes.
There is an HO Scale model of TTI Unit 5911. It’s beautiful
Beautiful video, Evan! Is this the P3 Pro?
Thanks Danny! Yes, it was shot with a Phantom 3, but it was actually the Advanced model. The difference between the Pro and Adv models is that the Pro shoots 4K and the Adv doesn't. I bought the Pro on the advice of a friend who said that the 4K simply wasn't worth the extra cash. The P3 camera in general is still 1000% better quality than previous models with built-in cameras.
I say we write letters to the railroad and tell em to haul scenic railroad excursions like they did in 1991
unfortunately due to flooding and washouts of trackage TTI is no longer in operation
🚂Coal express
That was a great video! Did you see the article in Railfan about this line? They had a great article recently. That line is hard to catch anything moving on. The last couple times I tried to catch a train there, they werent running.
Could you ask them if they'd consider donating number 5819 to a railroad museum if its retiered
ex seaboard horn on the lead engine
What kind of drone did you use? I need to get me one!
Awesome video! Love the horn. Is that a Leslie?
Thanks Mike! Yes, the 5819 that led north has a Leslie RS5T. I only know that because someone else told me, lol.
This line is out of service now
Sad to see them gone. Any chance this line will be revived???
I live in Carlisle beside the tracks I haven’t seen one since 16 or so
@@andrewhatton1606 thanks for the info, I'm through that area from time to time and only ever got to see a train crossing the Lewisburg trestle. Hate seeing the loss of any rail line, especially the regionals. Hope they railbank it instead of tearing it up.
