I’m Canadian and 49 years old. My wife and I FINALLY went to the Maritimes for the first time ever just a few weeks ago. New Brunswick, PEI and Nova Scotia. Was amazing. We live in Alberta and only ever travelled as far East as Quebec City. We decided to finally see the Maritimes instead of going to California for the 100th time.
A good tip when travelling in Atlantic Canada is to stop at Irving Stations. They often provide the most services and often have a restaurant. In fact, in many areas it is favourite restaurant of the local people. These restaurants are ofen independently run; not your standard McDonalds or subway type of place. If you like Subway you might want to try Quiznos.
Adam and Kathryn....'epic' waterfall is right! Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with the RUclips world. Your personality and scenic captures make your YT channel one of our favorites to watch.
Lived all my life in NB and only ever drove by Grand Falls. Miramichi City and up and down the Miramichi River is great (lived there 29 yrs) and Saint John on the Bay of Fundy and the Saint John River Valley is fantastic (been here 21 years). Many other great gems in the province as well, guess that’s why many of us never moved away or those who have move back to NB again. Enjoy & safe travels….ps. Canadian Tire is a national treasure!
I spent 9 weeks in Newfoundland.. beautiful country and wonderful people. Helpful, kind and generous . Also did Labrador . Will be following your adventures
@@AdventuresofAplusK we just got back from NFLD, we saw icebergs and Puffins. Twillingate allowed people to park and camp in many areas. The free seats on the ferry are like airplane seats, so Cabins aren’t necessary. Springdale has a glassy beach too.
First time viewer here from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Really enjoyed your video. Looking forward to seeing Atlantic Canada through your eyes. I laughed out loud at your first stop being Tim Hortons. How very Canadian of you! Have fun! 🇨🇦
My whole young life New Brunswick was just a province we passed through to get to Nova Scotia. Thanks for proving it's got lots of great reasons to visit!
Floranceville has the world's longest covered bridge. Saint John and the reversing falls. St. Andrews by the Sea. Ministers Island. Grand Manan Island. St. Martin's sea caves. All good spots to check out. Welcome to New Brunswick.
First time viewer! Impressed! Excellent and thank u for not complaining about crossing into our beautiful 🇨🇦 Just began to view your videos from the start. Fantastic photography, you speak just enough, pan over gorgeous enough to really take it in. Beautiful couple
Try Covered Bridge chips - from the region you’re in! Stop in at the Covered Bridge production facility for a tour right off the highway. That Grand Falls region is a big potato growing region.
I was in northern Maine a few years ago and looked up what was close by in New Brunswick since I hadn't been. Just like Kathryn, the first thing that came up on Google was Grand Falls so I went and it was pretty epic. I also noticed how French and English were both so prominent. Its a unique culture. Great to see that area making it to RUclips.
Atlantic Canada has Acadian French speakers, unlike those in Quebec. Cajuns in Louisiana are people originally from this part of the world. The Acadiand were expelled from their lands here in the 1750s when the English took over. They were sent on ships to the New England colonies. Some made their way to Louisiana over time.
Hello Adventurers 😊😊😊😎😎😎 and WOW! I can say that I have traveled to Nova Scotia by ferry from Bar Harbor, Maine to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and have traveled Niagara Falls, Ontario! I am so thrilled for your Canada trip. You've GOT to check out Hopewell Rocks! Do not ignore this place because it is AWESOME!!! OUTSTANDING Adam and Kathryn 😎😎😎.
Welcome to Canada! I'm so excited you are here. For All Dressed chips, you should try the Ruffles brand as it's the OG one. I've also recently had the Tangy Ketchup by Lay's that's way bettet than the original ketchup. Also make sure you visit the Citadel in Nova Scotia. I absolutely enjoyed my time there!
Regarding moose the best advice is to park well before dark and never drive in the dark. You likely will NOT survive a moose collision. Have a nice visit. Tom at the NB-NS border.
So fun watching you review the potato chips which do seem to easily end up in the cart when shopping while hungry. Looking forward to the unique places you find to visit. Thanks again for sharing.
If you get a chance, visit beautiful St.Andrews by the. Sea, where you can drive on the ocean floor to explore Ministers Island. Come to St.Stephen, Canada’s chocolate town. You can also take a free ferry ride to Deer Island and from there, ferry hop to Campbello Island. A little friendly advice for you from a New Brunswicker! Enjoy
Wow, I enjoyed the epic waterfall at Grand Falls, NB ... it's gorgeous! Thank you for sharing this with us! Am really enjoying your journey in Canada!!
We have just recently been to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. I loved hearing the people speak French. Beautiful place. Enjoyed your video and look forward to them each week.
As a man from Nb, I always found it fascinating how many American tourists we get, while other Canadians seem to hate our province for being boring and “nothing but trees”. Our provinces is a bit of a hidden gem. The trans can highway is sheltered by forest from Quebec to NS, so most people driving through don’t get to see any of it. The communities are mostly coastal, and along the St. John river(like grand falls). The interior is the tail end of the Appalachian mountains, so like large rolling hills, and heavy forest mainly for logging. The coastal towns along the eastern seaboard are beautiful and infrequently visited by outsiders. Here you will find great food, Acadian culture, and endless sandy beaches. Speaking of “Acadian”, the “Maritimes” that we know today are the 3 provinces which used to comprise old Acadia. This was one of the first permanently settled regions in Canada, where the French and Mi’kmaq allied to form a proto-nation. Unfortunately, the French king abandoned the region and ceded it to England as part of a war treaty, who then came in and oppressed the people. Homes, monasteries, farms, and other properties were either stolen or burned town, women raped and Mi’kmaq killed and scalped. This led to militia resistance against the English soldier who used it as justification to enact an exile. The great expulsion was a genocide that made it illegal to be French or Mi’kmaq in Acadia under penalty of death. Many escaped to Louisiana and became known as “Cajuns”. Many also escaped north into the forests until the genocide was called off and French Canadians were given rights. Unfortunately the First Nations people would continue to be oppressed up until 1982 when they finally also received equal rights. The British split Acadia into 4 states/provinces, one of which was lost to the US(New Ireland, also known as “Maine”.) The parts of Acadia that were still predominantly Francophone was given to Quebec(Gaspé peninsula north of NB, and the Magdalene islands east of PEI). Britain then filled this territory with Scottish and Irish serfs to hold it, with strict population laws on Acadian villages to prevent their numbers growing too large, specifically 10 homes per village, minimum distances away from each other. The ocean became their means of connection, which is why today the maritimes has such a love affinity with the sea. Since those times, we’ve become a people born from second class citizens of the British Empire. French, Irish, Scottish, Mi’kmaq, and even Africans who escaped slavery in the US. That is Acadia today, the maritime culture! -- Newfoundland and Labrador were there own country with their own story and culture. They can tell you more :)
There is also a great outdoor museum in Caraquet with a collection of homes from around the maritimes to form a walk through time, and see how the people lived and survived. “Le village historique acadienne” You can enter all the homes, and actors will recount the stories of the people who lived there. It starts in the 1600’s and continues up to the early 1900’s. It’s my favourite place to go for a walk, especially on the 15 of august which is “Acadian day”, where celebrations become a bit crazy, with le grand tintamarre which is when everyone makes a ton of noise to say “we are still here! You didn’t destroy us! We endure!” The staff should all be bilingual and able to talk to you in English, even if it’s the more predominantly francophone regions of NB.
Great that your 2023 videos have finally gotten to Canada--watching what you do in the Maritimes is going to be great! Love that you're doing roughly half a year there so your visit will be very complete. Regarding your first trial of Canadian potato chips--try the ketchup chips! Had them last year and they were great. Save travels and looking forward to wonderful videos!
We've had a blast in NB and can't wait to share those adventures! We're super stoked for this adventure! We're not big ketchup fans, but I think we need to give those chips a try! Thanks and thanks for watching!
Hi A&K so nice to see you in NB, my place of birth, born in Bathurst, moved west to Calgary in my early teens, Welcome to the Picture Provience. So rugged and beautiful, if I could make a suggestion, drive along the Acadian Coast to sample the best tasting oysters you will ever taste and the on to Shediac and Parlee beach, there you will find the most famous deep fried clams and lobster, not to mention beaches galore!! In closing enjoy crusing the beautiful Martimes, miss so much...😇🙏🐳🐟🦫🦌
We aren’t big oyster fans, to be honest. We did drive the Acadian coast though and it is beautiful! Can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to! Thanks and thanks for watching!
So glad you are back in Canada! I call this my "favorite local country" lol. Great idea with the burger bowl, I might steal it. Love the video. PS I was able to make my road trip out west, over 2,000 miles, not your epic film quality, but had a great time.
Wow you continue to amaze me and I look forward to your videos every week! Thank you for sharing your adventures!!! Also the joy you have for being back in Canada is so contagious and I'm so happy for you guys!
These are my old stomping grounds, I will be following, having enjoyed your AK videos. Good timing for seeing that much water over the falls in Grand Falls. It is a trickle in the fall/winter. Nice that you got to see a bear 🐻😎 After the all dressed chips, are Ketchup chips on the list? (-:
Adam and Kathryn .. All your videos are really awesome . I came across your channel a year ago, watched most of your videos .Your videos are really informative, entertaining and inspiring .
Grew up going to the Maritimes as a kid with my family from Ontario. Beautiful part of the country. People are super friendly and feels like old time Canada compared to Ontario. Pei and Cape Breton being my favourite parts. Enjoy your trip!
I was curious to see whether you were going to drive up or if you were going to take the ferry across to Nova Scotia. I love that you went to Tim Hortons the moment you crossed the border... sad there were no Timbits though! It was interesting to hear that the employee at Walmart picked up the phone saying Bounjour, I'd have expected the 'Bonjour, hello' greeting allowing you to choose which language to use in response with the province being officially bilingual. Very excited for the Canada series! ❤️
Yeah we chose to drive because we wanted to start in New Brunswick, but we'll be taking that ferry back at the end of our trip! Timmies is a must! I was a little frozen when I first heard a full paragraph in French 😂
We look forward to your videos! As soon as they are posted, we stop everything and watch. Enjoying Northeast and Canada with you. You have great meal ideas too!
I got excited to see another video! 2 days in a row! Then I realized that I watched last week’s yesterday so with today’s post, I’m current! lol. Loved the van dancing! That waterfall was epic; you did great on the drone video; it looked so massive. I can’t wait to get into this Canadian trip you’re taking us on! WooHoo! Stay safe and remember you committed to relax a little!
If you guys are still in Newfoundland, highly recommend checking out the bonavista area! You will see lots of whales, puffins & so much more. Definitely check out the boat tours here. I’m local to the area🥰 You can do a Newfoundland tradition in bonavista which is get screeched in lol. Also you definitely should try our pineapple crush soft drink.
New brunswick looks cool and everything seems like rural and wild. I think the bilingual policy might be difficult for visitors from other English speaking states or provinces, but I respect their tradition since there are so many french people. However, New Brunswick is definetely one of my must visiting list place where I will travel to in the near future.
New Brunswick is awesome! The bilingual policy is really neat. There is plenty of English spoken and all the signs are in both languages so it isn't very difficult if you don't speak French. New Brunswick is definitely worth a visit!
Just got to this video. Love the Southwest salad at TJ but my favorite is the elusive " Asian noodle with miso" but good luck finding it. Have not tried the Tim Horton's coffee yet and the waterfall. All 3 items, great standard road trips essentials. And I think in French territories, I've seen people get away with things as long as it doesn't step on someone's toes. Like the vlog at destination spot Walmart....
They also have Tim Horton's in Detroit, because of the city's proximity to Windsor, ON. Since you are in Canada for a bit, you should connect with Eamon and Bec, who are another couple who vlog about their travels.
I just found your channel !! Love it. I do not understand why you like Tim Hortons, but it's ok ;) Welcome back to Canada, next time come visit my province, Qc!!
Great video!! We are on the other side of Canada in Alberta. Today is the first day without a lot of smoke, so I am thankful for that! It sure is a beautiful place!
So many laugh out loud moments in this one. You guys are hilarious and some of you antics remind us of ourselves, from buying chips when we never buy chips, to the embarrassment of vlogging in Walmart. And your excitement of seeing a bear, we saw our first one on the blue ridge parkway. Keep up the fun videos :-)
Welcome back to Canada! Try Old Dutch Ketchup Chips Butter Tarts Nanaimo Bars Mars Bar, Oh Henry & Coffee Crisp chocolate bars Oh and zip lining over that waterfall 😮😂 noway EVER
We just came back from Maritimes.. NB, NS and PEI are gorgeous. We did not go to Grand fall in NB. Thanks for sharing that. I noticed from the short preview video that you guys visited Hopewell rock and Skyline trail. Those are the two major highlights that you cannot miss for the trip. Beaches at PEI are good as well. Have fun in NB, NS and PEI.
Welcome to new brunswick. The tim hortons u stopped at first is in my town. Lol. Do not forget to check out the longest covered bridge in the world in hartland and the potato museum in the french fry capital of the world. U will not be disappointed.
I am from Nova Scotia but I think NB is highly under rated. You missed the scenic drive up the Saint John River valley to Edmundston. You are obviously going to Mt Carleton next . Enjoy. I would highly recommend Campbelton to Caraquet shoreline. After driving down the coast Fundy Ntnl Park is a must. It is very close to Hopewell rocks.
Welcome to New Brunswick. Make sure you do the Fundy Trail, Fundy National Park, Cape Enrage and Hopewell Rocks. They are one after the other along the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy.
Nice to see you guys drive through my stomping grounds and able to pin point every place you were filming I am from Woodstock. I know that Houlton ME border well and the Connell Road Tim Hortons with Canadian Tire in the distance you visited. I even recognized the rock cut out on the Trans Canada Highway you were traveling. Grand Falls is wonderful. If you can try and see Saint Andrew's for there is alot of old war history. Connect with the Eastern part of the province to see the French Acadian towns and villages. Hike Mount Carleton. It won't be high compared to what you have done but the view of the NB wilderness is beautiful but make sure you bring BUG SPRAY for your sanity. Thank you for showing NB. New Brunswick gets the bad rep or is the black sheep of the maritimes and we have a lot to offer.😊

The Walmart you went to was in Edmundston, NB, which is right near the Quebec border. Nearly everybody in that part of NB is francophone.
This is so fun! I will say - you NEED to get the Ruffles brand of all dressed! That’s the best kind. Cant wait for your Nova Scotia adventure!

OH BOY!!!! I get to tag along and visit the eastern Canadian provinces. (lol)... Thanks for this adventure.
If you are going to be near Cape Breton Island, the Bird Island Boat tour is awesome.
The taste of All-Dressed chips depends on the brand; so you should try a few different ones to find your favourite. The same is true for Ketchup.

@@dorisbetts3012 Yes, you are correct - thanks for the clarification. We loved visiting St. John.
You should try Covered Bridge Storm chips! They are made in New Brunswick. You can visit the factory too.
Next year my family is going there so i am seeing what it looks like!
If you guys are still in Newfoundland, highly recommend checking out the bonavista area! You will see lots of whales, puffins & so much more.
Definitely check out the boat tours here.
I’m local to the area🥰
You can do a Newfoundland tradition in bonavista which is get screeched in lol. Also you definitely should try our pineapple crush soft drink.
I highly recommend staying in Alma, a little town with fantastic seafood, and doing some hiking at Fundy National Park.
Stay tuned 😊
It looks like your Canadian adventure is off to a great start. Nice to see Kona is keeping a close eye on the two of you.
Thank you again for sharing your adventures and lives, and for putting Walmart in a positive light.
In Newfoundland, make sure to go to Gros Morne, and Twillingate
Just got to this video. Love the Southwest salad at TJ but my favorite is the elusive " Asian noodle with miso" but good luck finding it. Have not tried the Tim Horton's coffee yet and the waterfall. All 3 items, great standard road trips essentials. And I think in French territories, I've seen people get away with things as long as it doesn't step on someone's toes. Like the vlog at destination spot Walmart....
Oooo I'm going to have to look for that when we get back to the states. Love miso!
good to see you guys did not get caught by the storms that flooded vermont
Awesome video... I enjoyed the east coast ...Fundy, Sea caves, Cabot Trail, Balanced Rock, Bird Sanctuary, Fogo Island, Percé Rock and many more!
Thanks and thanks for watching!
Great video!! We are on the other side of Canada in Alberta. Today is the first day without a lot of smoke, so I am thankful for that! It sure is a beautiful place!
looks like our first stop in NB will be grand falls, thanks
So fun! I’m excited to see all of your Canada adventures ahead!
Thank you! ❤
Welcome to Canada!
Welcome back,!
Welcome back to Canada!
Try Old Dutch Ketchup Chips
Butter Tarts
Nanaimo Bars
Mars Bar, Oh Henry & Coffee Crisp chocolate bars
Oh and zip lining over that waterfall 😮😂 noway EVER
Don't forget Aero and McIntosh caramel 😊
@@nathaliehirte836 I was trying to spare them an emergency dental visit with the McIntosh 😂
I love here in NB it's amazing!
I didn't know much about this area. Happy to see it through you guys!
Welcome to New Brunswick. Make sure you do the Fundy Trail, Fundy National Park, Cape Enrage and Hopewell Rocks. They are one after the other along the upper reaches of the Bay of Fundy.
Ooh I would love to go to Canada! It looks beautiful!🌊 Love this channel, always makes me feel like I’m traveling somewhere new😊
Thank you and thanks for watching! ❤
It is! 🇨🇦
Excellent! So glad to see yas made it. Enjoy every moment, looking forward to seeing & hearing about your travels.
Here in Michigan, depending on the distributor, a lot of our stuff is also both in English and French. And we have Tim Horton's EVERYWHERE.
This new adventure sounds so exciting! Can't wait to see what you guys do in Canada.
New Brunswick gets the bad rep or is the black sheep of the maritimes and we have a lot to offer.😊
welcome back to Canada. Atlantic provinces are amazing. Be careful driving at night because of the moose, especially in Newfoundland.
I have always enjoyed the outtakes. I tend to think of them as the Antics of A+K. :)
