we played this for my last band concert of my senior year and something about it brought up so many strong emotions that i started choking back tears towards the end. it gives me a sense of leaving everything in high school behind and that feeling of melancholy but also being excited for the future. i’m kind of an emotional wreck just thinking about it.
This was one of the final pieces I played in middle school before covid shut everything down. Not only is this piece extremely special to me because of that, but it's also truly one of the most beautiful compositions I've ever played. There will never be a time where I listen to this piece and tears Don't form in my eyes
Practicing this piece in band right now, and i have got to say it’s one of my favourite pieces bc of how beautiful it is. I’ve also got to say, part C on the clarinet is a pain in the ass.
Everytime I listen to this, I think of a family of field mice that notice a darkness spreading through their world, therefore they have to travel to the light at the edge of a forest (why it's called chasing sunlight)
This was the closer for my first concert since COVID. It was our first time performing live in over a year. This has shown our joy as we were finally getting to perform live.
Everyone here has amazing stories of playing this song but all I can think about when I hear it is how our conductor had to stop and restart in the middle because our soloist forgot to play..... it was a rough one for us lollll
I haven't been able to stop thinking about this song. I played it last year in band and it was truly one of the best pieces I will ever play. We played it at a big concert with another school and we did awesome!!
I lost my best friend yesterday and we played this in band and i wanted to listen to this to remember the memories he brought me and to the band RIP Jakob
we’re playing this in band rn and it’s my fav piece we’re playing. i’m flute one so i get a whole lot of fs and ds, but it’s ok because it reminds me a lot of undertale….
bc i can, its not hard. call me egotistical but idc im a trumpet player aries leo rising and my grandma has bipolar and my dog is a yorkiepoo who wont stop shitting on my floors and yesh its not hard smh]

For my first High School honor band I played it.
Played this for my competition in whistler in grade 9 and brought home gold, 5 years ago now.
I love this song, truly a masterpiece.

I remember I played this music in 7th grade, I still have the notes, so many memories
It makes me cringe that I am playing this song in 10th grade fml
Same 7th grade and playing this but sadly It won't be in a concert cause of the virus
@@akshid6376 lmao same
I’m playing it in college concert band- in 7th grade, all of our music just looked like whole notes haha but this is still pretty easy
Cool, although I’m not playing it I went to a school concert and listened to it in 7th grade!
Currently playing this in band

Sugar Bear Animations when is the darkness present
Isn't that the plot of The Secret of Nimh?
Jennifer Brauer ive never heard of it 😔
@@Cypress_Empress you should watch it, its a great movie
@@twinbruisesonmyshins the book is also good
It sounds like a graduation song in a sims game. Like your sim just graduated college

I’ve played this piece for two different honor bands two years in a row and it’s one of my biggest motivations to become an educator in music
Played this in 8th grade! Brings lots of memories
I lost my best friend yesterday and we played this in band and i wanted to listen to this to remember the memories he brought me and to the band RIP Jakob
This was one of the pieces selected for the all-county concert and I'm definitely excited for this
i found this after randomly remembering it 4 years after playing it
played this in 6th grade and this is still my favorite piece i ever have played

lol its kinda tricky, i play flute too and i had to practice that over and over just to get it right
yeah really annoying part
Why is everyone one playing this in middle school and I am playing this in my junior year of high school?
they prolly from texas or smth
same bro…….
I played this freshmen year but we focused on musicality bc it wasn't very challenging notes or rythmn wise, don't feel bad
It's because this is one of the songs in the illinois middle school state band
As someone who played sleigh bells on Sleigh Ride, I feel bad for that xylophonist
Some of y’all criticize this acting like y’all can play it better

Shouldn't a university band be able to play in tune???
I have yet to ever see a band whole band in tune
@@liamearnest315 It's a matter of how far out of tune and how often. A college band shouldn't make you cringe.
