      @kal Ke What the hell are you talking about? We like Murray, and we like the time when he was playing great tennis against the big 3, that is all... No need for a monologue about how the 3 GOATS are better then him.

    • @caiopavani5413
      @caiopavani5413 2 года назад +4

      @kal Ke I never said Murray would win any major at this point. I just like to see him play! I'm happy for him for trying to come back to the tour, we all can see how much he loves the sport. I think everyone should retire when they feel ready, and Murray is going to retire in his own terms! I'm happy for that, and just for that. And that goes to all of the players.
      Nadal's critics were retiring him since 2009, so look how much we would loss if he believed them.
      And by the way, i really don't think Murray overrated, in the era of the GOATS he was able to win 3 majors and 2 Olympic gold singles. That is impressive! And he played some great battles in the finals that he lost!

    • @masterduelist9083
      @masterduelist9083 2 года назад +2

      @kal Ke you contradict 🤡 why put Novak over NADAL in grandslams of nadal is 20-8 and Novak is 20-11. And Stan won just as much majors as Murray but the difference is, Andy was a consistent finalist and that’s still very impressive. Stan doesn’t even have a Wimbledon. Murray was double him in that and more gold medals in singles than ANYONE. Get your facts str8

    Murray peaked in an era with arguably the 3 best players who have ever played the sport, it's a shame people look down on him. He is easily an ATG and one of the best players we've seen in tennis. Might go down in history as the most underrated player to play the sport.

      Wouldn't ever say hes underrated..hes won almost everything..only difference between him and the other 3 is mentally..i dont think murrays quite as good mentally in clutch moments. But his haul of 3 slams is a poor return from someone so good. His injury came at the worst possible time for him bcos at that moment he was the best in the world just 5 years ago

    • @Open_Space0718
      @Open_Space0718 3 года назад +7

      I don't agree, underrated is when you don't win anything but you're considered one of the best. When you've won titles, grand slams, and achieved being No1 in the world, that's not underrated.

      Diehard Murray fan from clay season 08 to Us open 12 (yes I'd had enough emotionally by then lmao, still supported him until his hip stuff and beyond tho to some degree) Yeah he was scary in especially 2010 to 2012, incredibly fit and people don't realize he was basically like Ferrer but with a serve and actual ocassional weapons. Nole vs Murray weren't always the most enticing matches (tho imo Rome 11 is one for the books) but certainly battles!

    I propose that if it weren't for Murray's injuries, he'd have several more grand slams than he does, probably bringing Fed/Rafa/Djocovid's numbers down, and I say all three of them because on his best day, he could beat any one of them, and he in fact did, many times. Sometimes his mental strength wasn't at the level of lets say Roger's or Novak's, but when Andy was confident and fit, he was on. And when he was on he was ON. And watching his comeback these last couple years has been incredible. I hope he can compete at that high of a level again.

    Comes of age just as the three best players ever to pick up a racket are tearing up the record books, and still manages to make a name for himself, win more matches against them than anyone else and even make it to No.1 and end the year by beating his biggest rival amongst them at the Tour Finals. What I find crazy is that even with a career in that incredibly tough field, Andy still features on a lot of 'Top 10 of All Time' achievement lists like Masters 1000 titles, Grand Slam semi-final appearances, etc. All of those lists have Fed, Djok and Rafa right at the top.

I believe it took Murray until around 2016 to really re-discover his best form again. And it’s no coincidence that was when he became World Number One and even Toppled Novak in the World Tour Finals at the end of that year.

    6:49 the second last shot would have been a winner against most players. Murray makes it comfortably because of his positioning and his anticipation. The likes of Ferrer, Monfils, Nadal, Djokovic, Fognini would definitely have got there too but I don't think any of them would have made the last one either due to to lack of flat out speed or not making the previous shot so comfortably and having to waste time changing direction. The only ones I can imagine could have made it are young Nadal (2005-2009) or Djokovic.

  • @billkill37
    @billkill37 3 года назад +1

    Murray and Djokovic were made for each other. If Murray didn't have his injuries, he would be Djokovic's nemesis. With Federer having an age disadvantage, his play style being countered by Djokovic's and Nadal's well-known preference for clay surfaces, only Murray's play style and ability could disrupt Djokovic's dominance. Too bad we didn't get to see more of The Big 4....

      I'd say Murray at his peak was right up there with the big 3 (only real distinction being the big 3 regularly won more slams). Wawrinka only won like 1 or 2 masters 1000s, never ranked no.1, only 4 slam finals despite winning majority of them (Murray made 11 slam finals). Both were animals at their best, but Murray usually brought it year-round/ was always dangerous at his best

      Murray was a level above Wawrinka, look at Major finals and look at Master titles. On his day Stan was a monster but Murray was closer to the Big 3 than Stan was to Murray

    I was just about to write a comment like Josh’s, something about people not appreciating Murray. He’s not just a grinder, he’s not just a competitor, he’s not just a warrior, he is technically superb. He’s after Federer but before Djokovic and Nadal in the skills department

    The simple fact is that Murray didn't play in as many finals as the others, so obviously he didn't win as much. You have to be in it to win it, he just wasn't even in the final a lot of the time. I remember watching him win Wimbledon and it was a great moment, it reminded me that nothing is impossible and we should always have belief in ourselves (at the time there was a curse on British players not being able to win Wimbledon so people thought it was impossible).

    Even though I dont like his personality, behaviour, attitude and i was pretty much always against him.. He deserves my great respect for what he managed to accomplish in a great era of Federer/Nadal/Djokovic. No one should announce retirement because of injuries.

      His personality is fine. His behaviour when he was younger was questionable and his attitude was brilliant. He is a very nice humble man who's always got the fighting spirit until the end. Just sometimes swears on court. Big deal it's what we do
