True science fiction is imagining an alliance between Texas and California.
Californians have been migrating to Texas in droves the last few years
You must not know..They’re actually very much alike outside of LA.

Boy the amount of people who came sprinting here to type that comment that’s on every trailer of this movie only to see you beat them to it. Bravo
Anyone calling for a civil war has zero understanding of what a civil war would truly mean.
Exactly
It's the same with millionaire tech bros who buy luxury bunkers, they think they're safe until they realize that they don't know how to farm, have to worry about being murdered by their own security, and forgot to have a dentist with them so they won't spend the rest of their lives in constant pain from a single cavity infection. The scores of contingencies and unpredictable issues that arise would completely confound them.
Tell that to Tim Pool fans lmao
I may not know what it "would truly mean," but what I do understand is a future in which the group that pushed 2020 would have continued control over millions of American lives. That's not a future I wish to live in.
The end of the progressive left.
Anyone noticed it comes out April 12 the same month and day the actual Civil War started

163rd anniversary
I like you. I missed that. But it felt ritual-esque and I was digging into that bridge in Boston. The bridge fell on a full moon. The multiple angles don't match up with the same time of day like it's AI. The only missing people were construction workers. The bridge was named after the creator of the national anthem and the place was briefly the capitol of the US. Massachusetts is the naval capitol of the US with Annapolis and a ship destroys this bridge "accidentally." We have the solar eclipse in a few days then this drops on the anniversary of the original. It's all one big ritual to demolish freedom in some manner. It's obvious. Expect more BS in a few days while they distract us with P Diddler
@@MrArtVein it fell at 1:28, 128 days before Francis Scott keys bday, and "bridge collapse" in basic ordinal numerology is 128 🤷🏽♂️
War is the worst thing ever, especially civil war. I lived through a civil war in my country of origin, and I can't describe how damaging it is to both souls and the land. Scars will remain in memory for a long time, as it's about fellow citizens killing each other under the same history. Here lies the pain...
you can't have civil war in USA because Washington pulling entire World Banking system and technology. By switching off your ATM, Internet, bank account, you are totally exposed, not to mention Washington pulling everyone string, so good luck being arrested by FBI for uttering word secession.

Fun fact: Texas and California are two of the three states that were independent republics before joining the US. Vermont being the 3rd.
So was Hawaii, a kingdom from 1795-1895, then a republic for the next few years before being annexed by the US. There was also a provisional government in Oregon formed by American settlers before being added to US territory. A similar thing happened in Spanish Florida. Finally, little Rhode Island declared independence in May of 1776, months before the rest of the colonies agreed on the declaration of independence, meaning Rhode Island was technically it’s own country during that brief time.
California never succeeded, Texas is the only state in the union that was its own nation state at one point… only a brain dead liberal would believe that
@@J2K511 Hawaii wasn’t a republic they were a kingdom
I wouldn’t really call the “California Republic” a proper state or government though. It was only around for under a month and they only held a small territory around Sonoma. Whereas Texas, Vermont, and Hawaii had well-defined territories and lasted for anywhere between 4-83 years.
@@The_king567 Hawaii has been both. It was a kingdom for nearly a century, then an independent republic for roughly four years in the 1890's after the overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy. They had one president, a man named Sanford B. Dole, who became the first governor of the territory when it was annexed by the United States. His cousin James founded the Hawaiian Pineapple Company, which would later be renamed the Dole Food Company.

Tim Kennedy on SRS a couple weeks ago talked about how men from California, Texas, and Florida made up most of the green beret class he was in. Interesting to see that be the coalition in the movie……
Well, it makes sense that the biggest states with the largest population by percentage also are represented in our military. It’s almost like the makeup of the country can be seen in smaller amounts in other organizations. Kinda like how CA has 54 electoral votes. Texas has 40 and Florida has 30. Great quote (and true).
Aka Russia
As a native Texan, believe me when I say an alliance between California and Texas is not as farfetched as you might think. If a president were ever to (as I assume the trailer implies) extend his/her stay illegally, either state would have grounds to secede and the other wouldn't be far behind. The demographics are nearly identical across both states - massive liberal cities, huge conservative rural voter bases. Independence is every small-town Texan and rural Californian's dream, and an illegitimate concentration of power would definitely convince the large liberal bases. We have a lot more in common that either state wants to think.
I agree, but I also feel like: just because something is unrealistic does not mean it is a bad choice for a film by a writer-director known for sci-fi/horror. I would HATE it if it was exactly what we expect: this does not look like it's red vs blue, and that's a bloody *good* thing.
TLDR Also Austin lol
Eh idk. I think Liberals in California are much more numerous and stronger than in Texas.

This was... okay. Beautiful cinematography. Premise is cool. Storyline could be better. The trailer pretty much shows you some completely different movie. Sure, these clips show up, but the story is about war photographers traveling (driving) from New York to Washington DC so they can interview the president. It is about their journey along the way. This trailer completely misdirects the audience. And you don't see america "from sea to shining sea." The civil wars from coast to coast, but that's pretty much it. Also, texas and california being allies has not much to do with the film except just extra info about the war. And it's when the completely different coast from texas to california period it takes place on the eastern coast the entire movie. And we barely learn any information about how the war was started as it is except for a few comments about the president. It's an apolitical film. In an artsy light, I could understand that a photographer's job is to be nonpolitical. However, when they're not on the job around soldiers, they could talk to one another so the audience could get a better idea of what's going on? Maybe it's just supposed to be raw experiences of the journey? It's definitely an interesting film. But i'm not really exactly sure how to even feel about it.
Great movie. Just scary to think that we’re not too far off of something like this happening

I like that too. Gives us a happy balance.
Tbf Cali and Texas were probably chosen because they typically represent the most extreme of each political side
It's because they would need to be aligned to break free from the Union. After they gain their independence they do not need to form a nation together.
ALSO remember that California and Texas are two very important suppliers of produce and meat for the east so if they actually went into fighting, and stopped shipping food to the east, imagine
True, but also because of their resources. Honestly if the 4th world economy and Texas were to actually allied with each other and take over the nation, theres a high chance they could succeed.

Some ppl are salivating for this to be reality. They’ve never been to war.
In reality, it will never get this far, because everyone is everywhere and everybody is too dependent on services. If such should happen, most people, especially in major cities and suburban areas will simply starve. Then they will run to the rural areas and the countryside to get capped for trying to steal people's farm animals and food. The only way such could possibly happen is through an invasion from Mexico, just like Red Dawn, but with the coordination and backing of a superpower.

The only less than zero chance I could see of Texas and California allying is that they both agree to help each other fight for their independence, only to agree to let each other do what they want in their own state after. This could include initiating a war of expansion, letting the best fighter win, or letting them choose to rest on their laurels.
Yeah, the only thing both states have in common is ignoring federal mandates whenever it suits them. So a "the enemy of my enemy" situation seems the most likely.
California is full of beta males and would lose immediately. The men think their women and many of the women are actually men.

Granted, it was a good movie…but it didn’t show enough to be called “Civil War”…there was no how it started and why, no real ending to it…but I do believe the gun fights that were portrayed, was a message from the screen writer, director, and producer, as a warning to this is what will happen if you don’t stop trying to control our lives…the last civil war we lost a combined 600k-1 million lives…this go round, will be more along the lines of 6 million-500 million…

You know, of all the filmmakers who could take a subject like this on, I’m glad it’s Alex Garland, since he often knows how to bring the right nuance, commentary, and themes to the surface for something like this. There are so many wrong ways you can make a film like this, but something tells me he’ll find a way to do it just right.
Also A24 doesn’t miss. Even in there stuff I didn’t like I can acknowledge they were creative and interesting
"A24 doesn't miss"
Welp...I'll play with that lack of subjectivity:
Causeway, Woodshock, Marcel the Shell, Zola, The Hole in the Ground, Slice, It Comes at Night, Free Fall, The Adderall Diaries, Mojave, Cut Bank.
That's a lot of misses without even going into their entire filmography. I'm a fan of A24, but let's talk in reality.
@@MK_Ultra91you shut your trap about Marcel the Shell if you don’t have anything nice to say.
>Alex Garland, since he often knows how to bring the right nuance, commentary, and themes to the surface for something like this.
Actual surface level take. Anyone that knows Garland knows that he's very gynocentric, and often communicates his self-loathing and emasculation in the subtext of his films.
@@mogensgallardo3288Not sure about the first one, but "It Comes at Night" had WAAAY too many dream sequences that when the real horror actually happens, it just felt underwhelming, plus some choices the characters made felt a bit too dumb.
Wow the elites really want us fighting each other dont they? 😂
elite: the richest, most powerful, best-educated, or best-trained group in a society.
First there will have to be a fight between various groups of people to determine who the elite really are.
Then these mysterious "elites" (with an S added) can do their scary things.

The fact that it's A24 means this will be done with a level of tact that no big studio can muster. I'm sure it will both vilify and humanize everyone involved.
Nick Offerman wouldn’t have done it otherwise.
They purposefully set up our parties to blame one or the other on all the bad things, it's hilarious people still believe we have a party that cares about us when both don't care and don't want to end any of the crisis facing this country that's why nothing has changed. @@MassageSamurai using the word woke is still a thing?
@@cable7152 not for the reason it was coined in the 1940s.
The Republican party and associated media in the USA over the past decade has co-opted the word and uses it as a buzzword to mean anything that doesn't align with their politics.
Basically, at this point, you can assume the word "woke" is the antonym to Nazi - and all the historical context that entails - but that the people using "woke" most frequently in Republican political discourse believe it to mean the antonym to "good and pure".
If this doesn't ring true to you, please respond to this comment with a sentence that disproves this contextual use of "woke" in the Republican party of the US today.
