    Happy new year! I don't expect you to remember Katt Hasklaws, but she is me. I decided to make a planty YT like my IG coz I wanna upload some longer form time-lapse eventually.
    Anyway....
    NGL, I guffawed when you caught the pot on the edge of the table. It seems like you had a right comedy of errors. I wasn't laughing at you, I was laughing with you. I know days like this and all you can do is laugh.
    I knocked a small pot of fern seedlings for six not long after, so karma got me. lol
    When I put my adansonii on the abomination of a home made pole, I added a lil coco between the aerials and the pole. Slowly, those roots have activated. Yay. I'll be glad to eventually have the funds to make a proper one. Slowly slowly. I forgot how expensive keeping plants could be. Especially on a limited fixed income. 😂

    I truly appreciate you showing the reality of repotting 🤣because i do all this stuff + nothing goes to plan and then i knock it over 4 times and have to clean up 5 times 🙄
    The way you have gone about putting this melano on the pole is really smart and you've given me some ideas, i think if you extend it and keep doing the cling wrap over the nodes it will help it size up and build a huge new root system into the pole to then repot/extend as another plant (ala sydney plant guy method haha)
    My next experiment is trying a chunky aroid mix in a totem, getting philo roots out of moss is nightmare fuel. 💀

    Erm maybe next time when you put the pole in the pot, tip the pot over the end of the moss pole then stand it up and possibly won’t loose as much substrate, if that makes any sense lol 👍. That’s the first time you try, not after you knock it over or knock it on the table 😂🤣.

    Not for everyone: but when my plants finally overgrown its mosspole or i didn't put it on proper mosspole and i was too late to give it one.... I always chop it up. Start it over to grow the top cutting in the new mosspole. Then chop the bottom part into few cuttings, then in the future i can put it together with the top cutting or just simply give it away.

    Grafting tape does wonders for my Melano, and I think it is somewhat easier to use than plastic wrap.
    Grafting tape + daily misting of taped node (air humidity is low at my place) = leaves are sizing up dramatically

    That is just gorgeus. I have just bought one little baby and I am nervous about its care. How you manage yours to become so large so quickly?

    • @petevsplants7516
      @petevsplants7516  Год назад +1

      I think it's just luck of the draw to some degree. I've had ones in the past that didn't grow quickly at all. I bought this one and it probably got propagated from a larger plant and had good genetics, maybe it was already adapted to the climate I'm in, and after arriving it just kept growing larger and larger (compared to my shitty other ones which still did nothing). So, if you're having a bad time with yours, maybe consider chopping and propping it and trying to 'reset' things and see if that helps.

      @@konstantinasakka2429 Hey mate, not particularly. I mean, it's getting quite a bit of indirect light from a north facing window. I'd say pump it with light if you can though. I've heard that could be what helps them size up faster.
