Soak the root bound plant in water for about an hour the soil will loisen andcthe roots will be softer to handle :) this works for me with any root bound plants.

Use tongs! No need for gloves.

Hallo. Lovely video. Thanks. I recently put two struggling Alocasia in a glass jar with LECA balls from IKEA and they are thriving. I live in the Sonoran desert so it’s a dry here. They get some ambient sun from a skylight. Once new leaves come out they get a bit crispy on the ends but they keep coming. I’m gonna put a plate with rocks and water to see what happens.

Do you let the pump spray 24/7 or is it on a timer? If you have it on a timer, what are the intervals?

Soak the root ball in water for a few hours, then bring it outside and wash the soil off with your hose. You should reduce most of the breakage and be able to straighten out some of the roots.

So glad to see this. It confirms that I didn't do anything wrong when trying to rescue the monstera albos that were shipped to me. They came with root rot and despite my best efforts, they all died. I was blaming myself and thought that there were some things that I could've done to help them survive, but didn't. Now I know I did a bunch of things right that couldn't save those plants.

All of my PPP have been so easy to grow, the only thing they hate is being let dried out for too long. Mine love love the morning sun & lots of watering top and bottom watering. Not sure why so many had told me they only liked bottom watered. All of mine are hot pink and love tons of humidity! Obsessed with seeing new pink foliage in different patterns! Super fast growing too, in the winter months they never skipped a beat either for me!

I was gifted 4 Alocasias & keeping the watering just right for them is a pain in the arse! I just received leca & self watering pots & hope that solves the problem. If not, out they go! I don’t have problems with any of my other plants. And, if those things attract pests, out they go! I have never had a pest problem in my 45 years as a grower.

According to the Leca Queen, you did a few things wrong, but I was interested to see an update, so I just watched it. Obviously, you were successful. Just wanted to add that once the chlorophyll is gone from a leaf you should remove it as it has nothing left to contribute to the plant & can be a magnet for pests. But good job on your transition!

Im glad I found ur videos and channel. Been struggling with 2 alocasias (quilted green and tiny dancer). Im in NY in a dark apartment. Now for the season are in my balcony. I just did exactly what u did with stingray (i want one). They’re in a clear vessel. Can i still bring it outside after that change or should i keep them indoors with grow light? It's actually not the dominant sprout sucking up the auxin, but the dominant sprout secreting auxin which is trickling downwards and suppressing growth in the other sprouts.

I don't like how space out those leaves grow.

Does the leaf from the main plant eventually die off?

Tree fern soil

White leaves don't have Chlorophyll. So that's why your plant would drop that and keep the green leaves that can photosynthesise.

I am having trouble finding a good guide to water and fertilizer. How high up should I fill with water? Is this similar to a start in water, and the roots won't rot if you fill the cup? Should you actually submerge the roots and allow the water to stand until consumed? I have looked at several videos and googled, but am failing to find this info.

The plastic bag is such a good idea. I have not had much success with moss. Fluval has been good so I mixed some Fluval stratum and Tree fern fiber to see how it goes. I rotted a monstera I cut to propagate. Nice vid!

Very underrated plant in the US!

Hey dude, your crispy critter silver dragon needs iron and calcium. I’ve noticed my alacosia and elephant ears have very stunted growth and grow very short and deformed. If they’re not getting the right calcium they need , especially early in the growing season. Also diatomaceous earth or some other form of organic silica can really help prevent against diseases and viruses for all plants.
