Dear Laura, We,as Bulgarians, know how difficult it is since. We have grown up in these houses. That's why the young people have left them, even abandoned. Life is tough, because there is always work, it never finishes. Never. My dad visits and grows veg in my mum's parents' house, and she doesn't go there often. Why, mom? I ask her. And she says: "cause there is always too much work. We don't drink coffee there, we work!" And that grass.... It grows everywhere. And they just go there to work. That is it. Well done to you, though. You live in a foreign country, but you are doing it like the local people have done for centuries.❤❤❤
Hi Laura, good to see that you are healthy and the children are doing well, that's the most important thing. Building with clay is really very easy once you've familiarised yourself with it. I don't know of any other building material that I prefer to work with. It has many peculiarities, including negative ones, but you can compensate for them. We live near Popovo, and if you like, we can come round with our children and I can explain the basics of building with clay. Half of our house is made entirely of clay. We wish you continued courage and creativity.
You’re doing amazing. Your kids are going to be so resourceful and grounded. We are in the middle of a project in Greece and can feel your frustrations with how difficult some things are. Full support from us 🫡
You guys are amazing and inspirational, and so entertaining to watch - love your determination to succeed despite the challenges that BG life throws at you. It will be SO worth it in the end!❤🤗✨
I was thinking of you and feeling terrible that I haven't had time for another Bulgarian video!! 😅🙈 I need to do another one! Thanks for your lovely comments 🙏☺️❤️
@@the_phoenixproject don’t worry - I am about to start back at work for the new school year so snowed under myself with beginning of term prep😅 - timing is lousy as I have a van and really wanted to offer to come and help you transport stuff you need for the renovations now I am back in BG - keep me in mind for October half term though if you are still without wheels and a big boot!!🚐🤗
Hey, good to meet you. Name is Ivan and I started watching your videos recently. I was born not too far from where you live. I finished my studies and worked in the UK so I know where you’re coming from and I also know what you are encountering here. People just don’t realize how hard it is to renovate a house like that while working and having kids. On top of that you are still learning the language. I think you’re doing a brilliant job and I wouldn’t care about trolls. Please let me know if you need any help with translation or communication. I would be glad to help. Cheers!
Hey guys, so happy to see you doing walls and bricks laying the old way. This is the most healthy environment in home you're creating, especially when you live there with your kids. Nowadays materials are all filled with glues and thousands of chicals which are not healthy at all. Recently there are some young people in Bg doing home renovations and building using this way. Have fun!
You are doing such a good job in so many areas of your life. The renovation is being done in a way that is good for the Earth. Your children are so happy and sweet.I imagine 20 years from now when they come to you and say thank you because they experienced a magical childhood that most children only dream of. You are taking these challenges in stride and succeeding. I have said this before my dear, please understand that some people are so steeped in their negativity that they feel the need to lash out at others from the safety of the computer screen. ignore them. I love your videos and look forward to seeing each new one. You know me as your patreon member Diane Ward. I have since changed my name to my maiden name because I am divorced.
You are doing well with your project. We have certainly been where you are right now although we have not used mud-brick to build with. We had one outside water point initially and had no kitchen nor bathroom, we also issues with windows, floors, walls, ceilings and an overgrown garden! It's still continuing, slowly, after a number of years. Projects like this take time and money, working with materials and seasonal weather means you often need to jump from one need to another. If you have deep pockets it is easier but keep with it and you will see results and each step is one you have thought about and taken yourself, not given a list of things to achieve to a team of outside builders.
Hi Family! Welcome to Bulgaria! Greetings! You make bricks, it's not to be..,bravo!/as ,"Another brick in the Wall"from Pink Floyd, great! Have a nice days in Bulgaria,we are heroes!😮😢🎉❤🎉
I'm renovating my little house in France, on a non existent budget, so I completely understand. Ive found that I'm juggling different projects and I'm jumping from one to another, but thats the only way I can keep myself sane. After several days on one project, I start climbing the walls, so I do a bit of something else. It may not be the 'correct' way to do it, but it works for me. You do what works for you. Youre doing great!
Thank you! We often don't have the funds or time to finish one project, so we move to another. Or something else becomes more urgent. It's a fun and exciting life, but many don't understand what it's like to do it on a budget! ❤️
One thing you have loads of over there - is time to do the things you want to do, obviously, it's not easy when you can't transport larger items, but well done being creative by recycling things around you. If you're blocking up a chimney you may want to leave an air vent at top and bottom to keep air flowing and stop any condensation/damp/mould.
It's not a chimney, just a strange hole/shelf? I think Anthony mentioned it briefly in the video. There is still a floo where we will connect a new stove to cook on in that area. Hopefully we can cook Christmas dinner on a new stove and not in the air fryer this year 😅🙈
EEeh guys well done but surely you need to add straws to the clay in terms of better connectivity between. Anyway there are lot's of information in 21 century already...
When you will go shopping just take everything from the car, put the back seats down and you will have more space. Yes, only one of you must go shopping, beacause of the kids.
I've seen that. I know is difficult since we are alone with two kids in another country. Is there kindergarden or neighbor who can help with the kids for couple of hours?

Get creative You could probably use any old doors or wood surplus to requirements for worktops Or even a tree on or near your home Maybe salvage something from an abandoned house Good luck with that If the heats a problem for working in, maybe rest more in the day and get more done at night 😮
Yes, we are always trying to use what we have. Unfortunately, a lot of the wood here is rotted or is infested with woodworm 😔 Getting things done at night is not possible because the children need us more in the evening for bedtime etc. Thanks for the suggestion though!
