I'm a huge fan of your work, Dan. You're channel would be killing it on YT if you made step-by-step instructions on how you do things. I would loved to have seen how you rewired the lights. I'm new to RC life. I am very capable for doing every upgrade except lighting. I also don't understand the advantages of upgrading to a high-end transmitter. You are very talented and I always get a little happy inside when I see a new build of yours. You leave this dude wanting more information after each of your videos. :)
Great video, Did the new pinion gear work for you? and last What light controller are using, looks like the receiver is doing it all. I have FlySky radio gear.
Yo! Dan,do you have a source for the proper 2.3 11t pinion gear? If so I’d love to get it from ya! I’ve been inspired by your vids and I currently have my arktos split open and I’m going for the hobbywing swap. I’ve been searching without any luck to find the right gear. Thanks man! Great builds
@@lowtideoffroad You can’t buy a direct pinion for this mod. I did it both ways. In this silver truck I sanded down the motor shaft enough to press fit the stock pinion on it. In my second Arktos (the black one), I drilled a pinion open enough to fit the HW shaft. I used a 2.3mm drill bit on a Furitek trx4m pinion. That pinion has a grub screw but it’s longer so I did have to extend the flat spot on the motor shaft to slide the pinion down enough to clear the gearbox. Both ways work but be careful if you decide to sand the motor shaft. I kept checking the size as I went. And you have to grind the shaft to make it shorter in both methods to clear the gearbox cover.
Thank you Daniel for the video. Eagerly waiting to get around to starting my mini 16 project in the Artkos. The last question is do you have a link or source for the aftermarket lights? Considering running the lights off a my trick rc light controller
Just got mine wondering what your suggestions would be for first upgrades? Got brass wheels and tires, although I went with 1.0 wheels. Do you think the metal driveshafts are worth it? I also love the brushless. Did you find the old motor was underpowered? Also, the tilt bed has gotta be in the works its too cool not to do!
@@Coldsunscreen I always suggest metal driveshafts as one of the first upgrades. Specially when adding more weight to the rig. And the stock motor has plenty of power for this rig. It’s the same 270 from their brushed Evo Pro. I just wanted it to be a total powerhouse. And I might look into a sliding bed mod for this later. There’s another project I want to work on next.
@@Coldsunscreen Right. The tilt shouldn’t be hard. It’s the slide I’ll have to figure out. Lol. I saw a Direct Rc video where they tilted the bed but had the ramps slide out. I’d rather do the bed slide but it did look cool.

@DanPRC I'd love to do both, but I'm not seeing much of a way to do it without some super major modifications. Maybe running a small motor with a rack and pinion?

Yeah, that’s awesome dude👍👍😎
You're killing it with these hobbyplus builds.
Are you going to do the tilt bed?
sick build man insane!

@@rcsteve710_ I bought leds and wired them together myself. I have the connector kit with the prongs and crimper.

@DanPRC I'm gonna order some rc excavator pistons. I'll post it to the cr18 sub reddit it's looking fairly easy. I can't wait to see the new build!
