They recorded & released it before Sonny had finished the song. Our version has the missing last verse. This is the seventh song from our promo video.
brilliant...the everly brothers would be proud...this should be recorded.
I have played this song so many times l could sing it myself, brilliant. And Cats & Dogs reminds me of when l was a kid and poor at that. Totally brilliant

OUT-STAND-ING!!! I never knew there was a missing verse!
It's a song that brings tears to my eyes. I was 5 years old when my mom would bring the little record player with the built-in speaker out on the back porch in the summer evenings. She'd sit and tap her feet, while I would try to dance as that 78 RPM record played.
We would listen to that "Side A" and then Side B, (I can't remember what the flip-side song was). Then, I'd make her play Side A again. I loved that song for so many reasons. Well over 60 years later, and it still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it.
Much later in my life, (like 25 years), I was a drummer and played in several bands but no one I played with knew the song... I mean, they said they never heard of it or the Everly Brothers! It was a hit for quite some time and I don't know how these guys could've missed it...
... Of course, the fact that they were all about 10 years younger than me may have had something to do with it, lol...

Thanx Gb g PS: I have always envisioned a French street Caf'e, and a kind of "Third Man Theme" atmosphere when I hear this tune, which one would expect"IF" the Bryant's wrote it, which they didn't. No telling how much great stuff would have been added to their catalog, had "Mr. Record/Agent Man" kept their Paws out of the 'Till'?? Always "Filthy Lucre"!

I’m just surfing Everly Bros stuff after Don died today😢 and came across this great cover of one of my favorites of theirs. You guys nailed it. I’m embarrassed to say I don’t know who you are but what made this song great - as with many EB songs - were Don’s soaring high harmony vocals. Dude on the right…you killed it!!

You do a wee bit slower version. Check out Amy Slattery and her Dad performing this same song on You Tube. They do it about the same speed as the Everly Brothers. And, of course, Amy Slattery (British) has about 50 or 100 videos of her singing all the Beatles songs, all of them recorded 30 or 40 years before she was even born!

When Sonny Curtis played the song to The Everly's they recorded it almost straight away. Sonny didn't know they were going to do it that quick, (he was in the army).
Don & Phil didn't know Sonny hadn't finished the song, and it was released before Sonny gave them the second verse. We did the Sonny's whole song here.
@@MatchstalkMenBand You know, I first heard this song in 1961 by the Everly Brothers on WLS radio and it instantly became my favorite song. 50 years later, I heard Anne Murray do this and I actually liked it a bit better.....and then....I heard your version and you guys knocked it out of the park!!!! It trumps both ......the harmony, soft vocals, tempo and instrumentals are absolutely spot on.......could not be better and that second verse is great. I listened to it probably 30 times last night so I could finally get all the words correct.....I play your song constantly now!! Thanks for such a great rendition!!!!
