- Welcome to my garden. I shot this over a couple of days to try to get the best light for each area of the garden. This year was a VERY dry year so I have brown patches in my lawn and the prairie is stunted. May and June we only received about 1 inch of rain that is typically when we get good rain. But even though my prairie is stunted it is still blooming. Despite the challenges...it still looked pretty good this year. I still have a few more projects to get done....we shall see if the weather cooperates!!
I love how you laid out the drifts, wish you would show us step by step how it’s accomplished
Thanks so much. Go to my videos and look for Greenhouse update and planting 500 perennials. I talk about how I laid out the plans over the winter and decided on plants and then laid it out the following spring and planted it up. It’s all in a video.
Thank you for this long and lovely update. I love your home and garden and your videos are beautiful, peaceful, relaxing and informative. Thank you for sharing your joy and happiness and bringing us joy and happiness. 🌷 Kell, MS
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate you 😊
Just found you!! How is that you only have 9K followers. My goodness, you should have so many more. Your property is a dream!!! Your gardens and the way you've design each space is breathtaking! The house and the greenhouse, just exquisite. All you flowers are soooooo tall. What do you feed them to get so tall and lush. EVERYTHING is absolutely beautiful!! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I've gotta catch up on all your videos. There should be a LOVE button here! God bless!
Thank you so much! Well I don’t work as hard on my channel as I do my gardens I think. It really helps if people subscribe and share my videos!! I really appreciate your kind comments!! Welcome!! 😊🌸
Hi Dawn! So gorgeous and inspiring - thank you for the complete tour of your property. Really appreciated you interjecting photos at different times in your garden. The greenhouse in the evening is amazing. Your potted plants add so much and look healthy and beautiful. I do not know how you keep up with all of it but I am glad you do!
Hello Janice! Thanks so much. Appreciate your nice comments!!
Lovely. Really appreciate when you insert pics from other times of the season because that's such a challenge to envision. So helpful to see examples of what to plant together that WON'T bloom at the same time (ie the allium takeover for the salvia).
You are so welcome! Thanks for being here 😊
You have such a serene voice AND gardens! Wonderful

I just discovered this channel today. I was originally looking for bc greenhouse videos. You have a beautiful garden and the greenhouse is really lovely! I am curious as to what zone you plant in? I am now a subscriber as I have now watched several of your videos. Once again, Lovely!
Awesome! Welcome!! My greenhouse is from BCGreenhouse. I’m in Wisconsin zone 5. Where are you?
I live in Kelowna BC Canada. Zome 5@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn

Many many thanks
So stunning ❤
Thank you! 😍
Ein traumhafter Garten🤩🤩💛💚👍👍
Thank you 😊
Very nice front landscape. What is the ground cover on your front yard by the house?
Thank you. It is pachysandra
Gorgeous gardens! Thank you for the tour 🌸 the climbing hydrangea covered in butterflies, WOW! Do you have to weed the prairie? Did you plant that? Is mowing in the spring the only maintenance?
Thanks so much. I do not weed the prairie. It is about 7 1/2 or so acres so it’s just way too big to weed. I do try to keep out some invasive things that are growing in there. However, I have not done anything in it in the past two years because I’ve been so busy putting in the greenhouse the garden around the greenhouse and the new garden in the front as well as maintaining everything else. I just have not had a chance to work in there. However, I am going to get into it this fall and try to get rid of some of the invasive bushes and trees that have sprouted in there and work on something called vetch that I have in there as well. The Prairie quite honestly with the size that it is is more work than I could have ever imagined! However, there are so many beautiful plants in there. I just love it at the same time.
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn Well, all of your hard work really SHOWS! All of your garden spaces are just beautiful 😍 thank you for answering, I’ve been subscribed and always enjoy your content!🌿
Hi!! Your gardens are absolutely gorgeous!! I see you garden in zone 5, where in the US is this? Have you noticed the winters more mild or harsher with climate change?
Beautiful gardens !!!! Have you considered grub damage to your lawn rather than drought? Looks like classic grub damage
Interesting you should say that. I wondered the same. But we have never seen grubs when we look for them. We also only get these strange brown patches in full sun. I don’t ever get these in part, shade or full shaded areas of the lawn. And last year we had the most wonderful regular rain ever and we never got one brown patch!
Grubs like hot sun and dry conditions. I battle them every year and chose to treat 1 x per month beginning late May and each month to stay ahead them. So far that is working. I used to wait until August but by then the damage is done and you have to top dress and seed in the fall. We have been blessed with constant rain this summer ( no complaints from this gardener ) so a better year in combat against the grub.
I am in southwest Ontario, Lake Ontario zone 6A
. If it were drought your entire lawn would have gone dormant waiting for rain.
Here’s the test for grub: Tug some of the brown grass, if it resists and stays in ground it is drought, if if pulls out easily it is grub. They eat the roots and kill the grass, hence it pulls right out easily.
Beautiful gardens...how long did it take to get them looking that way?
Thank you so much. Well you know how it goes…. Seems like it took forever. Lol I think back to when we purchased this property. It was woods and a big old cornfield!!
Gorgeous! Is your climbing hydrangea invasive?
They can get pretty tall, but I just trim ours back every other year.
How do you keep your fountain algae free? I have tried removing the algae from mine but after three days it comes back. Yours is gorgeous.
Well, I think one of the things that helps is that it doesn’t get sun all day long. Just morning sun. I do clean it regularly by removing the water and giving it a quick scrub and refilling it.
Beautiful gardens. Love the greenhouse. New subscriber. What state are you in?
Thanks for subbing and Welcome!! I’m in Wisconsin Zone 5b. Where are you?
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawnI am in mid Michigan. We were in zone 5 and are now considered to be in zone 6. Do you have problems with deer or woodchucks and if so how do you deal with them? I am getting greenhouse this summer and can hardly wait. How do you heat yours?
Oh yes I do. For deer I spray that invisible fence stuff. For the woodchucks who like to live under my garden shed as soon as I see something dug underneath it shove moth balls down there. I give it 25 hours and then put dirt back into the hole. I’m careful to watch and do it immediately as I don’t want to displace it he babies. Last year I was too late and had to wait until they all left. This year I’m on it!!
What’s the name of your beautiful dahlias? Thank you. So special!
The large creamy colored ones are café au lait, the ones that of more pink hair, but smaller are Melina Fleur
@@SeasonalDesignsbyDawn thank you so much!
HimDawn, what are the lower growing ornamental grasses you have intermingled where the nepeta are? What are your favorite grasses besides Karl forester?
That’s Autumn Moor Grass, Sesleria autumnalis which is a cool season ornamental grass. Springtime blades emerge green and may reach a height of 18" and then silvery and slender blooms come out 2' in late summer through fall. Leave the flowers on Autumn Moor Grass through winter as they dry to a pretty parchment color.
Everything looks beautiful!!😊
Thank you! 🤗
