I agree. The original song is beautiful. The cover here is wonderful. For me, it's such a pleasure to hear it. The voice and the guitar are awsome. (tried to write my feelings in english, but I'm french)
I've just watched this with my six year old daughter who LOVES this song and she;s now mad at me because I can't play this anywhere near as you! haha this is amazing man thanks for uploading. Love from Ben & Willow
How funny! Several other Syd Barrett-songs which are on Piper At The Gates Of Dawn do have a nursery rhyme-like atmosphere (flaming, the gnome, the scarecrow). Apparently your daughter has a good ear for acknowledging that. Cheers to you both, M.
I've never seen one man cover the work of Pink Floyd in such a Floyd-like style like this isn't just a guy playing the chords of the songs it's like if you gave Syd an acoustic and said, "It's just you... Go!"
You almost leave me speechless.... Quite a compliment! Getting into a song's core to get the performace right is always a challenge, certainly when it concerns a song written by someone else than yourself and moreover written in a language that isn't your native language. However, Syd Barrett's songs made this relatively easy for me, as, for some mysterious reason, they caused an immediate sensation of recognition when I listened to them for the first time. I just knew what they were about. That made the process towards an arrangement for vocal and guitar relatively easy. I've often wondered what Syd himself would have thought about my renditions of his songs, had he been still around. Anyway, that thought is meant to remain part of my fantasy. Thanks a lot for your message! Cheers, M.
@@martinboere3274 As a fellow musician and Fan of Syd Barrett, i musy say your ability to put me right beside Syd is incredible The way you approach *performing* his music, the imagery, the emotion you put into the strings, resonates through space and time, My Good Friend 😊 Thank you so much 🎸🤘🏼🏆
I still have a hard time picking out which of them is singing sometimes Hehe I was just listening to "Lose Your Mind and Free Your Soul" It saddens me to know I’ve lived 45 years without hearing it
Ha yeah I figured I'd get her into early pink floyd and the like as there's lots in there for her, AND means I don't have to listen to Disney songs in the car all the time. Win, Win!
Haha! Competing with industrial entertainment is a tough battle. I'll tell you that I've manufactured 2 songbooks for my grandchildren (containing self-composed songs), of course primarily to give expression to the delight of being a grandparent, but surely also to give counterweight to the horrible stuff they are fed with in their environment. Anyway, it has worked for some time, but eventually they slipped into mainstream children stuff after all, having me to endure it during my stints as a babysit . Sad but true.
Thanks for your appreciation! I'm afraid I have to dissappoint you with regard to any form of written information on the guitar arrangement, as there isn't any and presently I'm to busy to produce any. Perhaps I will later on, as surely this one is fun to play. Cheers, M.
Keity Barrett absolutely did. The reason I made it more elaborate (for solo guitar) is that Barrett's compositions, colourful as they are and full of surprising turns, pose a challenge to do so. At the same time I try not to drift away from the song's original musical intention. A rather tricky job therefore, but the more satisfying when succeeding. According to your comment it seems I have. So thanks!
Well done sir 👏

Thank you so much
🎸🤘🏼🏆
It was Richard Wright singing lead on this one, wasn't it? In any case, superb job.
@@MrDoctorMabuse Richard Wright did the lead voice in the opening verse and one in the middle of the song. The rest was sung by Syd Barrett.
I still have a hard time picking out which of them is singing sometimes

Demais!
even though i like the long alternate version of this song, this one seems like a very good accoustic version
Wow
Amazing, congratulations!!!!!
Could you post the tabs or something?

Beautiful and amazing but I bet he used an easier arrangement (I hope)
