The best thing is when those who manage the official Pink Floyd page keep uploading songs by Syd 💎
And have comments enabled, a fairly rare sight these days.
And let me breath here, in peace, forever 🎧
Every band should have someone in charge of putting all their music online, so this shouldn’t be anything new or special. It’s also somewhat the page runner’s job to upload all releases they have access to, so this album probably should’ve been here way earlier since it isn’t exactly a hidden gem or anything
@@BilisNegraThat’s only seen by bands that actually run their own page, whether it’s the whole band or just one member. Sadly some of the bigger bands like Metallica don’t have comments active on their videos
Pink Floyd fans, true fans, appreciate the Syd Barrett years as much as the commercially successful ones of the Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason years.
Syd was such a fantastic vocalist.
And so was Rick! RIP to them both
COMPOSER
He was a genius...Piper Gates is the best album of psychedelia era and among top 10 of rock of all the time...In my humble opinion.
Backed by Rick !!!!!!
Amazing voice
Pink Floyd does not make music, they make magic!
Such a great album. I could speak on about how songs like Matilda Mother, Lucifer Sam and others affected my life, but words don't have enough meaning to tell the tale.
Yea bro this album helped me through a hard time ..
@@Waichouu how so?
Words have different meaning
i recommend strongly the band "broadcast", specifically their album "Broadcast and the Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age"; they start just where "the piper at the gates of dawn" ends, with the delusional clockwork noises of bike. The second song should seal the deal
I know exactly what you mean
Very nice to hear the combination of Richard Wright and Syd Barrett's voices.
I love their harmonies.
if you like this you might like my brothers music. his name is Stu Morris
I know I absolutely love it
Yeah! That's a good combination hey!
It’s a medication without medication
Syd’s Floyd is always welcome in my cave, more please
Yes they did
I bet u let a lot of peeple in ur cave huh
Pink Floyd is really a very good band, it helps me a lot when I'm not feeling good;)

Syd Barett is a great composer
Lyrics:
There was a king who ruled the land,
His Majesty was in command.
With silver eyes, the scarlet eagle
showered silver on the people.
Oh, Mother, tell me more.
Why’d ya have to leave me there,
hanging in my infant air, waiting?
You only have to read the lines of scribbly black,
and everything shines.
Across the stream, with wooden shoes,
bells to tell the king the news.
A thousand misty riders climb up -
Higher once upon a time.
Wondering and dreaming,
the words have different meaning.
Yes they did.
Aaahh…
For all the time spent in that room,
with doll’s house, darkness, old perfume and
fairy stories held me high on
clouds of sunlight floating by.
Oh, Mother - tell me more.
Tell me more!
this is unmatched brilliance....
I find it hard to believe sometimes that I was named after this song. I still enjoy listening to it after all these years.
I wasn't but I like to think I was
Matilda means " mighty in battle"
I love Syd Barrett

While most of Pink Floyd's album covers were the work of Storm Thorgerson, The Piper album cover was the work of Vic Singh. As a massive Pink Floyd fan and as a British Indian, it always makes me proud that the cover of the debut album of Pink Floyd was taken by an Indian photographer. He used a prism lens over the camera lens to create the effect of seeing many faces. The Dark Side of the Moon isn't the only album with a prism on the cover, The Piper is the other one.
Thank you for that, its really interesting to know. We hear Thorgerson's name often but it never interested me, will look out for Vic now! 🙂 (piper etc was a much more interesting era of course)
One of the most British Iconic bands
True.
*iconic British bands* if you’re gonna type in English, might as well do it right
true
Till Syd was ousted
*World iconic bands
Rick Wright singing the verses and Syd singing the chorus.
Syd sings the last verse too I'm pretty sure
Syd sings the counter verses and the 3rd verse…takes the vocals to the next Stratosphere
There isn’t a True Chorus on this song…the backing vocal lines in the song are sung by Syd, Rick and Roger
Why’d you have to leave me there, hanging in my infant air
Backing vocals harmony on this song is fabulous

Rest in peace, my dear Syd! Without you Pink Floyd would be another band.
just another band
Syd is not dead - the Crazy Diamond still shines on!
Great album.
Psychadelia English nursery rhyme meets Brothers Grimm fairy tales in a sunflaked medieval meadow of epic glorious blonde maidens!!! Yeah
Syd was transported from another place and time and lowered quietly into the 1960s to germinate lyrical musical art forms that will never vanish
This song reminds me of driving throughout the forest with my grandfather a forest ranger.
The harmony and melody line at 1:08 is sublime, the way it bends and changes keys, it's really not something you hear a lot in western music, but Syd did it a lot and make it work, not only was it unique, but essentially stood by itself.
One of my fav songs of one of their best albums
This song over the years I have listened to it countless times. Even today I find it wonderful and unique.
This was my favorite PF album, until Dark Side came out. And then Wish You Were Here happened. What a band!
Syd was a genius no doubt! This still ranked among their top 5 for me at least

You followed them since the beginning
@@user-kt8dy7pc8n LOL - yeah, I'm getting up there in years. An older musician brother introduced me to some great bands when I was pretty young, too.
I was fascinated with this album as a kid
I see a good future for these guys

Syd's genius, nothing else
@@rorogogo6241 ummm hello. Rick's Keyboard textures. his singing in this? Rogers Bass using every note on that insterment? and Nick's Drumming skills are reminding me of Ginger Baker

"The words have different meaning"... but Pink Floyd always has the same meaning - great☀️❗💯 💙
"Have you got it, yet?"
@@joemaurone7923 I don't understand that meaning??? 😅😂😅
@@joemaurone7923 No comprendo 💃
@@donatellaallegra4732 It goes back to an incident with Syd Barrett messing with the other members of the band. One day, he was teaching them a new song called "Have You Got It, Yet?". Each time he'd show them, he'd play them something DIFFERENT, asking them, have you got it, yet? Over and over, til they finally caught it.
So, then, "Pink Floyd always has the same meaning." Except that time, it didn't, and The Madcap laughs.
@@joemaurone7923 Thank you for the story (anecdote) 🙂 P. S. Treba jako dobro znati neki jezik da bi se shvatilo u punom značenju, ali i imati informacije😉 No, čak i ako se govori istim maternjim jezikom, ljudi se retko razumeju. Reci mogu da naprave nesporazum, kao i to što ljudi imaju različitu aksiologiju 😉 If you really interested in what I wrote, you translate 😅, bye bye 👋💃😄🙋♀️

Thanks for the lyrics- even though I naturally know them, it's nice to read along when listening to the masterpiece!
Utterly unique but I'm also glad that 'rock' music didn't take this direction

Pink Floyd is a reason why the Dark Side of the Moon is now infamous.
There is no dark side of the moon
Its called the far side of the moon

This song starts like it's coming to us from another Universe. Marvellous.
Everything is everything if you stay around to witness it.
I was at school in the 60s during the explosion of creative psychedelic, pop and blues… and the musos in the music papers touting Rock n Roll is dead.
It took John Entwistle to say you’re all effing wrong. Now go to your room.
PINK FLOYD THE BEST BAND EVER !!!!!
The Beatles is our everything...
Nah, you just biased.
Don't make the Beatles look bad.
They may have a inspire by them(like everyone) but PF for sure having their own style that is why they are so successful.
The thing you're doing is just claiming everything for what?
didn't the Beatles make music to inspect people?
@@margoman You don't get the irony, you have no idea what my musical preferences are, and you don't know how I feel about these musicians. But you still pass judgment on what I meant in my comment. If you don't get it, just move on.
I wish with all my heart that they would release the Versailles 88 DVD concert ❤🤘.
The Gilmour and backing band stuff….meh
hello your three guys survivors of ex-Pink Floyd we love you so much 💞😍🎶
Wondering and dreaming
underrated. the organ solo part in early live performances would go on for nearly 20 minutes sometimes. times of a supernova never to be experienced again. I’d love to hear good quality live recordings of these early songs from 66 early 67. Sadly all the live Syd era Floyd recordings are not that well, but a few are very precious to see
Syd, tell me more, raccontami, incantami con il tuo genio, indica a tutti noi, figli dispersi dal tuo esilio forzato, la strada, il sentiero che illumina i nostri cuori ❤

The whole band in one channel and whispers in the other. The essence of psychedelia. LOVE!!!
A great song of course. I particularly like the lyrics fairytale archetypal quality. Up there with the best of Dylan who explored that approach at one time too (All along the Watchtower).
Danka Syd. Wish Rick and him had more songs together. Can only appreciate what they gave us.

to me, who got into them from arnold layne onwards, the kind of imagistic surrealism of this track, in particular, is such an advance in of the real meaning of the era and its legacy that is so meaningful and relevant even today.

Both masterpieces in their own way and shouldn't be compared.
Both masterpieces.
I respectfully disagree, but Pepper is the best album of 1967. It's not even my favorite Beatles album.
"The Piper..." is a better album than Pepperoni...but it's a secret. Don't tell Ringo.

Yeah!
I thought only King Crimson was doing these kinds of reuploads?
a few band channels do just to get some uploads, especially when your dealing with bands from decades ago it's hard to get consistent uploads when they just blew their load by releasing it all in the past.
Wow, what a nice song! They should write a song related to animals.

When I listen to Matilda Mother, Remember a Day, Astronomy Domine or Julia Dream, I understand that Pink Floyd was sailing light years away from mainstream bands like The Beatles or The Rolling Stones. Few songs launch me as out of this world as those. BTW my favorite music is Symphonic Black Metal, but I love bands like Dead Can Dance or Bauhaus. However, Pink Floyd will always be the beginning and the end.
A classic yet
