You are so lucky to have had beautiful music to grow up to. The world has gone to hell, but when I play the music from your generation it makes what lies ahead bearable, and brings me hope. I’m 30 now and it seems like so much has changed in the last ten years alone.

@@rk41gator I imagine she's referring to signs EVERYWHERE trying to tell us what to do...how to live...in the past year. Do you see all the signs walking in any establishment today??
@@gomogo2000 I see signs walking in establishments that are meant to protect their customers from others who have no understanding or care not that they are abusing other customers. I recall worries in the 60s about signs. Cut your hair, don't protest. There have always been signs. Whether they are they to protect my rights or to limit them depends upon what 'rights' are being abridged. Your right ends at your nose. Some in government think they have the right to cut off your nose, if they don't like the direction it goes. Not all signs are bad. (forcing people to accept responsibility for their actions is a good thing. If you feel strongly enough to protest, you hope others respect that and act justly. If you land in prison or become a martyr that is a choice you have made. No sign affects that choice)

But then again, that's "PC", and faux-pas to all those who want to go back to the "wonderful" days of gynophobia, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, anti-Semitism and unquestioned/unchallenged authoritarianism.
@@stevieray8719 YES SO VERY TRUE
I agree. If anything there are more signs now than when this song was out. As an aside, the original is FAR better than Tesla's cover version. You shouldn't mess with perfect ion.
I was 20 years old when this song came out. The best of the good old days are gone but good memories
You are so lucky to have had beautiful music to grow up to. The world has gone to hell, but when I play the music from your generation it makes what lies ahead bearable, and brings me hope. I’m 30 now and it seems like so much has changed in the last ten years alone.
Excellent lyrics! Applies to life!
This song is everything . So many awesome memories.
AGREED
yea i remember the discrimination against "longhairs" hehehe
I sang this at karaoke (just before Covid arrived) and introduced it as the greatest Canadian song of all time. The DJ said he wasn't sure if he agreed but it was hard 2 argue.
Love this song
This was freedom, not like its today. Miss it
Explain please. Are you referring to 'cancel culture'?
I just woke up this morning with this song playing in my head. Maybe it's a sign?
I was just thinking about this song last night. Had to hear it.
maybe a sign you're smoking too much weed, eh ??
@@rhuephus 🤣
Me too, I woke up withnit playing in head- my free spirit seems under attack.
2022 .. I’m 65 and this tune .. 🎶 STILL ROCKS 🎶 with the ‘ flower ‘. Joy and Peace to/for all 🕊🍃
I was 9. It was a different world. Thank you Lord...I am doing fine.
me too
Brilliant!
In all my years I have never heard of this song or band before, but glad I have now! 👍
An 80's band called "Tesla" did a good remake of this song. 🤘
Where have you been Brother?
@@charlietuna1477 Not enough time to listen to all the great music from the past, I'm doing my best, and enjoying what I find. 👍🎶🎸
This song is just as relevant in 2021 as it was in 1971
A classic 70s rocker with a message that never sounds dated -- what a great piece of music. Memories of hearing this in our family car driving to Easter break vacation to see Gettysburg and WDC.
5 Man electrical Band was first ever bought. They great and still love it 50 years later,
Thank you lord for thinking about me I’m alive and doing fine
Anyone here visiting in 2020 during this covid thing right now?
Yup, I am! Remember this tune covered by Tesla in 1990 acousticly. Great song 👌. I here you sista. Greetings from Ireland. Stay safe.👍
YUP
now sign says "FACE MASK REQUIRED TO ENTER"
Feeling it... May 2020
Social distancing enforced...
IMAGINE, in 2020, the ASTONISHED LOOK on my nephew's face...when I told him that Tesla did a COVER of this timely song. THIS GEM was from my generation! ;)
Shoulda seen my face when you said tesla did a cover of this man that 90s hair band crazy ima go check it out

53 here, born in June '69. I take after my hippie uncle (my mom's little brother) a bit. I've always loved this song.
I've loved this song since I first heard it. I still sing it too.
I sing it all day
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!
Man, I hear this song, and I’m back in my sophomore year of high school again.
ROCK N ROLL STILL LIVES!!!!!!!! 🤘🏻😁👍🏻 Oh the memories....
My engineering professor loves sines and cosines. I love this song
My life...wrapped up in a song. God bless the music that continues to influence the many generations to come.❤🙏
This song influenced me to ignore the boomer signs about masks. Funny how when the revolutionaries gain power they enforce the same tyrannical laws as the people before.
@@matthew8153 Well said.👍. I once applied for a job with my hair tucked under my cap. I got the job and showed up the next morning without my hat and my hair in a pony tail. They told me I would have to cut my hair to continue working there...That was the shortest job I ever had. 😂😂😂. They called me for three weeks afterwards to get me to come back. Ha! Ha! My skills have nothing to do with my hair.
Thank you Lord for thinking bout me I'm alive and doin fine!!
RIP Les Emmerson - Godspeed. Thanks for the music!
This is my favorite kind of music and the group as well in the 70s
🥀Amazing Song Brilliant lyrics, vocals and music meaning has a powerful message! I've always loved this song🥀✌🥀
This song is truthful, even still today,60s and 70s awesome decades of heart felt music!!
as a kid had really long hair at 16 ,, really realate ,love this song
I just sang this song the other day. An oldie and a goodie!!
I always loved this song. I was 10 when it came out. I didn’t hear it for a long time but it always popped in my head. I spend a long time trying to find it. I even ordered a random album by some unknown artist...lol. Back in the day when we went to record stores. Then one day, my older brother asked his friend who sang it for me...finally, he knew FMEB did it.
I dont know why ? I just busted out the lyrics in the truck, tbe otber day. My 20 year old buddy was along.. He is a music student ... Wants to be a. Music teacher. ... He says. Eow dude. Thats some great lyric. Shit you make that up.. I ssy hell i wish.. Point the 20 year old. Thinks its a HIT. .. Do it again... 16 and was driving when this came out. Now im. Reverse in those numbers.... Lot of great. Hard memories from simmer of 71

Life without this kind of music is unthinkable
I'd love to go back to 1971, 16 yr old kid in high school. I would go back and never return to this mess.
Thank goodness! (I heard it waaaaaay too many times back then 😂)
@@rickbowman21 yes it was played a lot back in 1971. ✌
