Friday the 13th part 3 would have made 105 million, in adjusted dollars. Part 3 is a masterpiece; one of the best slasher movies ever made.
Again, maybe it's just me, but part 3 isn't even one of the best Friday movies let alone slasher movies in general. Part 2, 4 and 6 are all miles ahead of it in the quality stakes imo.
Personally, I find that the first four, are the best and scariest, with part 1 as the best and 4 as the best sequel.
4 is easily the best of those first four films to me. 2 is very much like 1 only better made.
I think that if someone watched these films back in the day when they where released you would have a very different opinion. Nowadays if you watch them at leisure I'm sure it takes the suspense away. In the early 80's, believe me, they where scary as hell.

The original is the best. It should rank higher than it normally does.
Maybe I need to see it again because my memories of it are that it is highly overrated. It just felt cheaply made and badly acted. But maybe that's just me.
You're not wrong about it. The film only really starts to shine near the end. Betsy Palmer's performance is excellent. The reveal would have been better had they actually introduced Pamela Voorhees earlier in the film however.
Where The Line, "He's Killing Me" Came From
In the book, Crystal Lake Memories, Director Joseph Zito explains where his idea for the line was derived from. He states that he read an article in a New York newspaper one day about a man being stabbed repeatedly while yelling out, "Please stop hurting me, please stop killing me". The story really stuck with the Director as he viewed the tragic death as the victim was speaking to the assailant in a conversation. The fact that the victim saw himself being murdered with the chance to talk to the killer was much more impactful than just a teen being knocked off with a quick kill and some gore effects. great list man just thought you would like this becuase your rite it is dumb if you dont know why its there :) but great list man
That is quite haunting when you think about it.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Hatchet series. I know Cody wasn't super fond of it, but I love it. I'm a big fan of satire and I can really appreciate it when a movie can make fun of itself. Also it's filled with some of the funniest most over the top kills of any slasher.
Not gonna lie there was a few WTF moments! Personally i love this series. I love the difference of opinion though. At least we had a few similar choices.
Part 7 is underrated, if the kills were in their original presentation, that movie would be in the top 5-6

Bryan you put up a good fight about it, and actually made me reconsider how I thought about it.
And I'm in the same boat with Friday being my least favorite of the big three, the remake is the best.

I'd say he's my second favorite after Derek Mears. Kane Hodder is a little overrated to me.

If you haven't seen the fan film Voorhees you're seriously missing out! Jason is BRUTAL. The kills are all on-screen with way more blood and gore than I ever expected. And the cinematography and music score are amazing. I just can't get over the fact that Cody Faulk made such a high-quality full-length movie on only 20k and a single camera. Beyond impressive. It just came out last weekend, free on youtube. I'd love to know what everybody thinks 🙂

Very true that Friday the 13th is a ripp off but in my mind it's the best execution of it,

I know Never Hike Alone is a fan film, but it better than most of the series. I did really enjoy the first 7 movies on this list. 8 and 9 were ok. 10 to 13 were just terrible.
I can understand why the remake is your favourite one as your not a fan of the Friday the 13th Franchise.
I'm so with you on Never Hike Alone. I do count it as it happens but I hadn't seen it (or even heard of it) before I made this video. But if I made this video now it would be my number 5 choice as well.

Nice to see some love for Jason Goes to Hell. Fans of the franchise tend to be pretty down on that one but I think it's definitely one of the more entertaining entries.
What do you like about part 9
Just the fact that it's totally off the wall bonkers. Crazy writing, crazy characters, crazy special effects. I get that it doesn't really look much like the rest of the franchise, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It tries to do something different and it does so with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Is it a GOOD film? Hell no! But it's damn sure entertaining!

Hahaha, yeah, I think this franchise has so many different types of film in it that it's very easy to find people who have a completely different take on it. That's one of the things I think has made it so enduring. You want comedy? Go with part 6. You want Sci Fi? Jason X! Cronenberg style body horror? Jason Goes to Hell. Straight up slasher movie? Any of the first 3.

-Boring, bad kills, unlikeable characters

-Tried something different(which I give respect),had some good characters and great kills but was very boring and could have used more Jason

-Very entertaining with one of the best kills but there weren't many characters that I liked with some dull spots

-Too much nudity, didn't have Jason and most of the characters were driven by sex but had a few decent kills and some funny spots in it

-The kills were at their worst, with some of the most forgettable characters but was entertaining, Jason looked great and it was cool to have Jason go up against someone who is a match for him

-Some good kills with a few good characters but was way too similar to the first two and was a bit boring

-Had some great violence and great kills with a few well acted characters but some of the cg was shit and the Jason was not very good

-Had some of the most iconic kills and likeable characters but they killed a real snake and was too dull at some points

-Had some great kills and Jason was way more scarier in this movie but the characters were at their worst

-Ginny was the best final girl, had some great kills like March, Jeff and Sandra and the characters were likeable

-Best kills in the series, introduced us to Tommy Jarvis, Jason was very scary

-Fun and likeable characters with a great sense of humour and was so entertaining. 2 of some of the best kills in the series and Jason showed how strong how he had become

You don't really have to do something original with a slasher you just have to make it entertaining most ate just B movies. With that said the first Friday is a good fine slasher but is forgotten about in the series because of the popularity of Jason most don't remember Jason wasn't in the first.
Of all your ranking videos, I think this is "my least favorite." :P
I’m not really a fan of this franchise either. I much prefer Halloween and A Nightmare On Elm Street. I thought the original Friday the 13th was decent due to the atmosphere, but there really isn’t that much in this series regarding story and characters; it’s mostly about the kills and nudity. For this reason the sequels that I find the most enjoyable are the ones with comedy sprinkled throughout, which would be 3, 5, and 6. I thought parts of the remake were good but in my opinion the quality of that film isn’t that good because of all the sex scenes which seem like they belong in a porno. If those scenes weren’t in the film and instead there was more character development then I’d rank it much higher. In some of the other sequels there are scenes where it seems like the cameraman was being perverted. For instance, I noticed a few scenes where the camera pans down on a female character’s rear end or breasts and it looks very awkward to me because it’s the cameraman’s POV, not the POV of one of the male characters. For me this series suffers from these types of scenes. It’s no coincidence that Jason Lives, one of the best films in the franchise, has no nudity. Anyway, great video and I enjoyed hearing your thoughts about these films.

Well, some of that was unexpected. I'd probably flip flop Jason x and Jason goes to hell. For some reason Jason x makes me laugh my ass off. For a character that was created because people were off having sex while he drowned, to see him cop a feel on the liquid nitrogen kill, completely ludicrous. The double sleeping bag "kill" towards the end, is priceless. I just watch it as a comedy, like a spoof of Jason, and it makes me laugh. The remake... ok I'll agree 100% Derek mears was awesome as Jason. He brought a lot of intimidation and aggression, something I feel like that character always should've had. It's basically a revenge character, and they're supposed to be pissed. I definitely felt like we got that with him. Then the other 2 main characters, well three with the other girl, were actually pretty good. They felt like characters, but the rest felt charactures. It didn't mesh together well since the rest of it was more serious. And it was too dark, you can't even see what's happening on the first kill. It's one of those I go back and forth on, I'm actually watching it tonight, along with a couple others, so well see how I feel about it now. And Freddy vs Jason is a lot fun, watching that one too haha.
Overall, it's what I would call a bargain bucket series. I'd never buy any of these films new but I might pick 'em up on DVD (that's right, not even Blu Ray) cheap from a bargain bucket. They have their moments but they're all pretty much guilty pleasures.
Bryan Lomax Movie Talk I think the character of Jason has outshined his actual films. People pretty much come to these to see him and what kind of crazy kills he's going to do. The remake got away from that and grounded the franchise a little bit. If they'd taken out the underground tunnels, and actually made the rest of the people characters, and let Jason be a little more creative with the kills, it could've actually been great.
Part One):they killed a real snake... Damn!!!...Kevin Bacon with an arrow through neck...Pamela Voorhees decapitated... 3 stars...Part 2.).. Mean spirited .. Marc in the wheel chair.. Damn... Ginny the best final girl... We got hillbilly Jason... 4 stars... Part 3).... Shelly was irritating... 3D was distracting... Bad acting by Chilli and Chuck and Debbie the stuttering attractive bimbo. Underrated final girl in Chris even though she went crazy in the end.. Surprised that Rick was so easily overpowered.. unnecessary bikers.. Jason was more ruthless ... 3 stars. Part 4.)... One of my favorites.... He's killing me was one of the most stupidest lines in FT13.... Loved the dog... Scariest of the first four movies... Great Jason... 4.5 stars.... A little overrated though... Part 5) .... Should have erased from franchise... Loved Deborah Voorhees tits... Mean spirited also... Tried something different... Stupid characters other than Demon, Reggie, and new Tommy...2.5 stars.... Part 6).... Loved it... The most meta and funny in series... Stronger zombie Jason... Cooler Tommy.... Sheriff was an asshole... Megan was cute... 5 stars..... Part 7.)... Could have been better.... Kane Hodder debut... I hated Melissa...loved Tina... Dr. Crews was a slime ball... Interesting but could have been better... Dumb ending with Tina's dad.... 3.5 stars.... Part 8.) ... The worst of the series... Liked the beginning song... Of course the dog and Julius decapitation... Renny was weak...hated the uncle... Slime, almost a rape scene, drugs, just horrible... 1 star... Not to mention we was only in Manhattan maybe 30 minutes of film....Part 9.).... The weirdest fucker of them all... Jason gets blown to bits within ten minutes of film... Coroner eats heart and says God Damn!! ( Funny)... An unnecessary shaving scene... Alotta gore... Loved Creighton Duke... Good final ( Guy)... 2 stars...part 10 or X)... Kinda cool, kinda weird, kinda different... Uber Jason was great... Janessa was funny with her quips... Of course the freezer acid kill was ruthless... Finally found someone who has the same thoughts on the first Friday as I do... its a bad film man, no way around it.
Theres a reason even the die hard Friday fans dont even have the original as their favorite... nor is it in most fans top 3.
Theres no defending a bad film, period.
The fact a film THAT BAD spawned so many sequels should give hope to any aspiring filmmaker.

For me nightmare on elm street is the worst of the big 3 after nightmare 3 its unwatchable.
My favourite Friday the 13th Movie is Jason Goes To Hell always have always will. Sorry guys if you hate me for saying Jason Goes To Hell is my favourite when actually in others opinions it is terrible but I actually thought I liked this one out of all the Movies in the franchise and it actually had a proper story which I understand and actually enjoyed elements of it. I'm not saying all the others are terrible but Jason Goes To Hell I'm just saying that it had a proper story which I can understand and enjoy elements from it so yeah I do like some others like Friday the 13th Part V, Friday the 13th Part VIII and Friday the 13th Part IV but I enjoyed Jason Goes To Hell more than all of them
