@@musicalmiscellany Ohh no, I'm too late to the game. Well, tbh, I needed to see what a midiclock did and how it works and what it can do and you explained it so well. Thanks again. I'll have a look at for similar no nonsense ones like the E-RM. Greetings from Ireland
Great show and tell! Cheers for that. E-RM has unfortunately gone out of business and stopped making these. If you get interested in alternatives, I'm making something called CLOCKstep:MULTI. It's a bit of a combination of the first 3 clock devices you've shown.
Thanks again for the info and demo. I've been using my imaginary friend to do clock subdivisions. I think I'll have to get the master clock for Christmas but what I'm working on right now only needs 1 clock signal but once I move beyond the 5 songs I'm working with I'll need more things clocked.
Thanks for checking out the vid. I've done sync via a lot of different ways over the years. There's no right or wrong way to do it but I can't tell you how much I love this setup. So simple.
One of those features I haven't used on my M-Audio MIDI controller because I haven't gotten multiple synths yet. I may get a Behringer Pro VS Mini when it's available, if I don't spend extra cash on more VSTs. GAS isn't just for guitars.
Very cool. Thanks so much for doing the video. If i ever get the midi clock i will refer back to it. For now it isnt in the budget. But very useful info regardless!!
Hopefully the vid was helpful. MIDI sync is a huge pain in the butt. There are a million ways to do it (and I've tried many of them). It ends up being frustrating when you try to use a drum machine as your master clock and it only sends clock when the drum machine is running. Then you have to start every song with drums, even if you just use an empty pattern. I just got so frustrated with it that I had to find a better way. I really love the Midiclock.
Thanks for finding the video. MIDI carries several types of data. Note on/off and pitch data are the most common but it can also carry clock data (as well as some other things). Most - but not all - synths support clock sync over MIDI.
@@nodayoff1000 unfortunately E-RM decided to close up shop shortly after this video. So the only place you can find these units now is either new old stock or the used market.
omg, you explained what it is, what it does and how it works with no add or extra BS!! Legend my man! I'm sold on this and getting two :))
Ha ha. Thanks for that. Apparently ERM went out of business recently so they're probably getting hard to find. Good luck.

Very true. You can spend a whole lot on studio gear. In any case, I'm pretty happy with this setup. Thanks for checking it out.
Amazing
Thanks for watching.

Thank you too!
how could tempo of the hardware synth smoothly be notched with an external midi controller?
