Absolutely loving these podcasts, so pleased they are on RUclips as only a few are on BBC sounds. Still havent worked out what ultimately defined Portugal‘s modern day borders.

According to the german philosopher Peter Sloterdeijk, the history of humankind can be devided in two periods: before Vasco da Gama and after Vasco da Gama. (I think he wrote that in "The Cristal Palace".)
Fernando Pessoa wrote something funny and true about comparing the british sea voyages of exploration with what the portuguese did: the british should just shut up, and that they just arrived at certain places because they were shown the way (I will try to find the exact words).
Sounds like I need to check out this green wine.
