I feel like a lot of bourbon enthusiasts miss out on the true 4 Roses experience bc they are unaware of all the recipes and mashbills. This was much needed and is why C.P. is truly the most important WhiskeyTube channel in HISTORY!
Good video. Now you need to gather several single barrels of your favorite recipe from different offerings. I would love to see four or five different OESO bottles compared.
Great video fellas! I was really excited to see that you were doing this. Really nice job! Can't wait to get my last missing bottle, which was your winner 'OESO'
Local bottle shop picked a barrel of OESO - was fortunate to get two bottles. Unfortunately, this OESO tastes like your OESQ. Have yet to finish it and still have another in the bunker. It was bottled in July, 2021, is 10 1/2 years old and 114 proof at $80. As mentioned, because these are single barrels, YMMV. So it’s always a roll of the dice. The Small Batch Select is definitely flying under the radar - hope it stays that way. Sold for ~mid$50s at first - now around $60. Local Costco had boatloads at $45 for a while a little after it first came out, then marked it up to $55 - haven’t seen it since for 1 1/2 years. This is a bottle I’ve brought on vacation because it’s easy to drink, has plenty of complexity with a decent finish. Wish list would be for it to be a little higher proof.
This is an incredible source of information for 4 Roses Fan Boys. Thank you. Suggestions = add chapters within this video of which recipe for easy reference.
Great video CPU! I remember Dutch mentioning in passing on a live about a year ago or so about he was collecting these bottles for a drinkthrough but was missing a couple. I’m glad to see you guys were successful in your bourbon hunting! I’m surprised to see how many of these were collected at BevMo; I wrote them off years ago as their selection sucks and their prices are much higher than TW or K&L. I might have to give them another look. Whole paycheck foods too!
Great review! The Tiers make a huge difference in flavor, spice, and proof. While I love Tiers 5-6 (proof goes up), Tiers 3-4 are my favorites as they maintain proof through aging to give a good balance. “Typically”, Tiers 1-2 are lower proof and can lose some flavors, but much easier to drink. All in all, definitely a difference across the recipes and once you find your favorites, play with the runs and Tiers. Won’t be disappointed. Cheers.
I have 3-5 of each recipe, it’s my favorite choice out there. Every single barrel pick is vastly different, you get some similarities based on warehouse and tier. Overall a great video, now get some of the 4R SMBLEs and compare them!
Great video. Unfortunately OESO and OBSO are the hardest ones to find. Of the recipes I've tried so far though, OBSV and OESK are my favorites. Four Roses definitely competes for my favorite bourbon distillery alongside Wild Turkey.
OESO is consistently my favorite followed by OBSO, OESF/OESQ/OESV/OESK. There is a pretty big variety between barrels, which makes it fun to try sister barrels of the same recipe.
Useful video...I always thought I hated 4 roses but maybe it was because I got the wrong mashbill lol...I do have a question...how do the limited editions differ to these?
Great video, thank you! You stated that the Spice isn't Black Pepper spice, but more of a Baking spice. However, several other reviews use a Black Pepper reference, especially on the first sip and might scare people away, but upon further sips, it lingers but doesn't overpower the other flavors. I really feel the heat of Black Pepper, but it certainly mellows over time. Have a nice day!
Four Roses barrel strength are always good buys. I was surprised to see so many from Bev Mo. I shop there fairly frequently in store and online, have a card and get emails from them frequently. I’ve never seen a Four Roses BS from them. Am I missing something?
Is it possible to find these anywhere in NJ? I only ever see the basic Single Barrel, I’ve never seen these in the wild and have been searching for 2 years
I've only owned one of the unique recipes (OESV) outside of the regular OBSV SiB. These used to be far more available at Binnys but I haven't seen them in years now... and yes, the prices are higher than they should be.
I know these DrinkThroghs® are old, but I really wish they would push the bottle forward they're drinking each time for the duration of the discussion on each one.
I wonder what it would be like if they offered a small batch select single barrel where they did the blending with the six recipes that goes into small batch select as white dogs, blended them either in equal measure or in whatever proportions they usually use, then aged them and released it as a single barrel offering?
I agree on the OESQ as I have a 10-yr, 4-month pick. While it has a good nose, it doesn’t have much on the palate and it does finish with an oaky/tannic mouthfeel that ends up drying your mouth. I like 4R for the same reason y’all like it, the floral and spice notes. This had none of it, even if the tag described this recipe as “floral and refreshing”.
@@CuriosityPublic any way you guys can do all the other four roses bottles that are on the shelf. I would be "curious" to see your take on the other bottles especially the single barrel vs the small batch vs the small batch select and if one is worth $20 more than the others. Thanks in advance

Now that's a handsome line-up, the bottles I mean!
This is going to be my favorite episode. Wish I had half the collection of yours.

I only just started the video, but this is the perfect lineup for a drinkthroughTM.

Also, I think for some good follow up/curiosity private content would be blinds between the same yeast strains with different mashbills.
Great suggestion! Will put it on the list!
Love these drinkthroughs, but really, they’re liquor-hunting flexes 😆 I’d probably do the same though if I had the time, money, and/or storage space.
I just bought a bottle of 4 Roses Small Batch and a bottle of 4 Roses Single Barrel 🥃😊👍! Looking forward to taste both of them 😊👍!
Great video! I wish I could find them all! Cheers!

Masters at work here, thanks for the video!
I had no idea that different recipes were available. I learned a lot. Thanks.

Been looking for an OESO for a long time. Finally picked one up! Excellent Four Roses offering. Great videos guys! Keep it up.
OESO is consistently my favorite followed by OBSO, OESF/OESQ/OESV/OESK. There is a pretty big variety between barrels, which makes it fun to try sister barrels of the same recipe.
Dutch: “I still get wood on the nose.” 😂
Useful video...I always thought I hated 4 roses but maybe it was because I got the wrong mashbill lol...I do have a question...how do the limited editions differ to these?
The limited editions are blend of usually high aged barrels of various recipes. They are excellent but hard to find for a decent price
@@CuriosityPublic OK so the age probably makes them "smoother" but still getting jam and spice etc?....The proof seems similar=)
@@royn8032 yeah. Flavor profiles can vary year to year. Kind of like the small batch select on steroids (flavor wise)
Fun and informative video!
Great video, thank you!

Nice lineup, fellas! Sadly (for me) I only managed to get a bottle of 9 of the 10 before the single barrel program went unicorn. It eats at me... =D

K&L used to get them pretty often, but not in the last few years. I found 2 different recipes at Vons in Pasadena today.
Is it possible to find these anywhere in NJ? I only ever see the basic Single Barrel, I’ve never seen these in the wild and have been searching for 2 years
Not sure. We found all of these on the west coast. Hopefully someone here has an answer for you though. Good luck!
I've only owned one of the unique recipes (OESV) outside of the regular OBSV SiB. These used to be far more available at Binnys but I haven't seen them in years now... and yes, the prices are higher than they should be.
Of all the bourbontube ive seen, this may be the most impressive.
I know these DrinkThroghs® are old, but I really wish they would push the bottle forward they're drinking each time for the duration of the discussion on each one.
Can't even find one of those bottles here in jersey
I wonder what it would be like if they offered a small batch select single barrel where they did the blending with the six recipes that goes into small batch select as white dogs, blended them either in equal measure or in whatever proportions they usually use, then aged them and released it as a single barrel offering?
Wow, how long did it take you guys to collect all ten?
Took around 2 years to finally get them all
@@CuriosityPublic we love the dedication
Nice shirt Dutch lol.
How do the 3 of you split/share the bottles as a result of running this channel? Or does Dutch own all of them?
I agree on the OESQ as I have a 10-yr, 4-month pick. While it has a good nose, it doesn’t have much on the palate and it does finish with an oaky/tannic mouthfeel that ends up drying your mouth. I like 4R for the same reason y’all like it, the floral and spice notes. This had none of it, even if the tag described this recipe as “floral and refreshing”.
Which is the recipe of the single barrel that is always-on the shelf?
OBSV.

My bottle is missing the mash bill. Just showing warehouse and barrel number, what the heck?
Is it a barrel strength pick?
If it's a 100 proof single barrel, it's an OBSV
Y'all look like Otis Campbell with lipstick 😂😅 🤭😊
Im Baaaaack
Bit$#3s
Buuuuuenos Diaaaaas
36:34 That’s got to be racist 😂
I never see any of these. Ever. I really wish 4 Roses would drop the O and the S from these names, they ALL have an O and an S. Worst marketing ever.
Amazing
