Thank you all for hanging in there with me! I wish I could say I'm back but that's probably not the case. This was just a couple good days which are kind of rare. I'd rather not talk about my illness except to say I'm working hard on getting better. I should know more in a few weeks after I see a pulmonary doc. I hope you enjoy this video! Phil
Very glad to see you too! I was just thinking about you today and hoping you were ok. Thought all your subscribers were going to have to send out the Guard to check on you. Take care of yourself, we'll be here whenever you are feeling up to another wood turning adventure! ☺️💕👍
I am so glad your feeling a bit better now but take it easy. Thank you for the turning I think it’s lovely never seen one done like that before. See you soon but take care and rest my friend 👍👍👍😊😊😊♥️
Even if you don’t believe it, you sir are an inspiration! It’s not just your masterful skill with a piece of wood and a gouge. It is the absolute joy you take in sharing with us. Even though I live over 2,000 miles away from you, it feels like I am right beside you sitting on a stool in your shop. Thank you for inspiring me and countless others to not only give lathe work a try, but also to see the beauty inside everything and everyone around us.
well said, in fact I wish I would have said it myself.. and the part about sitting on a stool... I get that feeling myself.. he's such a good teacher.. he probably loves to teach, almost as much as he loves to turn..
That's a good looking piece. It can serve fruit in the bowl and cheese on the platter. That would add color. It holds its own. Excellent and utilitarian project. 👍
Good luck Phil, take the time you need, and know that we’re rooting for you! We’ll be here, waiting with bated breath, hoping for your return, fully fit. Love what you do, and would love to see much more, fingers crossed that we do…
Good to see you back. It never ceases to amaze me what you come up with. The second I saw that crack, I would have scrapped the project. But you make it something amazing. Thank you for the joy of watching you turn a plain ol chunk of wood into something unique, and I hope you continue to heal.
Phil, you do things with wood unlike most turners. Most turners hack a piece of wood to fit what they want. You sir look at a piece of wood and it talks to you. You have a way of making firewood beautiful. Let me say I no longer look at my firewood pile the same. Sorry to hear about your health. Hope all is good. Thank you. We are watching.
THANK YOU PHIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..THANK YOU DAVE FROM CALM WOOD CREATIONS....Phil I can breath again buddy. YOU and your show is my breath of fresh air!!!! Glad you are back Phil. I missed you! Take care of yourself and don't rush whatever is ailing you. We need you back for the long run! I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
We are so glad you have been able to share a video with us, Phil. If you find that you need to change how often you post videos, do what you've gotta do to maintain your health, we will stick with you. On to the bowl on platter. As you were turning it, I kept thinking, "I like it!" Sometimes subtle beauty is more attractive. The dark bark contrasted with the blonde wood - very eye catching, yet not in your face dramatic. Great work, Phil!

Great video as always and great to hear your voice... Be careful not to do too much too soon and look after yourself... Take care my friend...All the best.....Andy..
I missed you Phil. As a cancer survivor I get it. Every day is a struggle and a victory. Just know we love you and always will be cheering for you. One video a week or month doesn't matter as long as you are on the road to recovery. God bless you my friend
Phil, its sooo good to see you back, even if it's only for a video or two. An unusual piece but I like it....cracks and all. God bless you Phil and I hope you get well soon!
Love it, cracks and all! The appearance that the bowl was growing out of the other piece is awesome! And you, you take care of yourself! You are much loved😇
Hi Phil! It is Good to see you back! I like this bowl-on-platter: It is a very pleasing shape. The cracks and bark form a good colour contrast with the light coloured wood. The smooth finish forms a nice textural balance with the rougher bark...A nicely balanced bowl. 😀 Thank you!
Wow, glad to see you back friend! The bowl and plate had me scared with that huge crack! I can't believe it was still stable like that! I hope you have more good days in your future! You can pop on a video once in a while for 5-10 minutes to chat even if you're not turning and check in with us. Take care Phil and hope to see you in the next one friend!
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop I'm seeing a lot of smiley face replying. You must be feeling down a bit. You almost always reply in type. Our prayers are with you, friend. I hope you feel better soon. My God's peace be with you as you heal. In Jesus name. Amen.
Welcome back Phil. I have missed you and I hope all goes well for you. My wife and I love the bowl and think it was a great use of a challenging piece of wood. Once again, best wishes.
I like it! And I was so thrilled to see you were able to put out a video. I know I'm not the only one who misses you. You've got such a way when turning wood that sincerely celebrates the natural wood. You're irreplaceable. Take care Phil and I wish you good health and many more happy days.
Welcome back, Phil. Your loyal followers will be here for you. God Bless you always! Love the bowl the way it is! It has a lot of character and beauty. Keep doing what you are doing for your health and get better soon.
Thanks Phil. I’d add more but I think you know by the comments before mine how much you are appreciated and liked for what you share with us. It’s not just your wood turning abilities, but it’s also the love of wood that’s so obvious as you describe each piece. Both are a gift that make us smile. So I say again, thanks and stay strong Craig from Ontario Canada
Such a pleasure to watch your creativity, artistry and skill - I very much enjoyed this one and especially like your commentary. Thanks Phil for another excellent show and a beautiful piece of work.
Great to see you back. I'm a 'never commenter' but watch all your videos, some multiple times. I hadn't touched a lathe since Jr High but recently retired and it's always a part of my day now along with watching you and others that are so gracious to give of their time and talents for others to watch. Love your style and approach and aspire to get there someday. My prayers are with you for more good days than bad.
Welcome back to the spinning wood and shavings. Remember to stand clear of potential projectiles, and that shavings of many types of trees make great pet bedding (if you have grandkids or great grandkids with small pets, or a local school with class pets). Also, don't forget to protect your lungs. The dust and shavings coming off your lathe can build intolerance in your lungs/respiratory system at any time causing medical issues. Better preventitive care than medical care.
Imagine my delight and surprise to see you back. Even for one video. The bowl is outstanding. Your work is always top notch. Take care of yourself. I'm praying for you.
Great once again ! Thanks to that idea of making an emerging bowl instead of only a bowl ! As to the cracks , I would have rejected the blank but Phil never gives up , any challenge is welcome !
Phil....what a beautiful peace! Really love it! And I’m soooo glad you are feeling a little better! I was very worried that something had happened! Just know from one turner to another I’m sending you lots of good vibes wishing you well! Please just take care of your self! Wishing you a speedy recovery!!! Take care my friend!
Great to see you back Phil, I hope the good days soon outnumber the bad again. I love this piece, it didn't look too promising halfway through the video but, as usual, you pulled it off and produced a stunning result, thanks for the continued inspiration. Be well, best wishes, Tom.
My lunch hour special brought to me by Mr.Phil Anderson and Shady Acres Woodshop! Truly inspiring work Phil I absolutely love watching. He takes a break for a bit and comes back swinging! Love the unique piece!
I'm really sorry to hear you're unwell Phil and I hope you're back to feeling good soon. I think the Bowl worked out great, good contrast between wood and bark/cracks. The blunt edges help to emphasize where in the tree the wood came from. I'd strike that up as a success :)
Welcome back! Some people, when they get back in the saddle after an unwanted absence, would jump on a gentle old pony. Not Phil. He jumped on a bucking bronco and found a winner of a bowl. Good job!
It’s sure nice to see you again! So glad you’re feeling better and are able to get back to your lathe. This piece is wonderfully done. Thanks again for sharing your talents with us!
It is good to see youback and I will continue to keep you in my prayers. As far the the piece is concerned, you always bring out the uniqueness in a piece. Continue to take care and don't overdue.

Phil you just made my night turned on RUclips and your video was the first one to pop up love watching you and have learned so much thank you and glad you are back.
Good to see you Phil, you just gave us hope for more of what we have all missed these past few weeks. Funny thing is I too see a pulmonary doc who also does woodworking and turning, bad thing is for my check ups we talk about my lungs for 5 minutes and 30 minutes about turning! Take care of them lungs! Once again your piece is Wonderphil.
oh it always a pleasure watching a Phil video. i absolutely love this one....makes me want to try to emulate it....Take care of yourself and we'll be here when you're ready!!!!
First off, great piece Phil, you never fail to take the right turn when you come to a decision on something. Secondly, I know that every one of your subscribers is sending prayers your way for a swift return to good health. (Getting into these “golden years” isn’t for the faint of heart… Please take good care of yourself, there’s lots of us who really care. Russ
You are greatly missed, Phil, when you are not bringing us your amazing turnings. My prayers are with you. I really liked this "emerging" bowl. Different, yes, but still a lovely piece. Please take care of you!
Greetings, Phil, or as we like to say in Texas, "Howdy!" Glad to see you working again. Praying that you'll be restored and back to it in no time. Take care and get well soon.
Happy to see you at it again. Happy for your couple of good days. Sorry that it is not a full return to productivity. Know that we are all praying for the day you are healthy again. Gid bless!
I think it's beautiful Phil... and I'm sure that bowl smiled at me in the end there as you held it up at 26:02, there were even two spots that could pass for eyes ☺... it was lovely watching you work again and you're still in my prayers Phil... thanks for thinking of us and know that we're think of you...
Phil, it is so good to have you back for this video! You have been missed! I absolutely love your Calmwood Creations creation (not to mention the Phil-ed cracks comment). I have never seen anything turned like this before, either, but as you were developing it, I could only think of this being a combination of a charcuterie board with a bowl on top, or, a new term, a Charcuterie Bowl. Now, it just needs to be filled. Whoops, sorry, it was already Phil-ed! I'm praying your doc visit goes well and you can get back to good health.
Or a cheese ball and crackers. Just line the bowl with plastic wrap before putting the cheese ball in. (Or find a plastic or ceramic/glass bowl that fits it well.)
Phil sorry to hear you’ve not been feeling well. Glad you’re doing better even if it’s only temporary. I enjoy your videos more than most of the other turning videos that I watch the cars of your narration of what’s going on. Thanks for the instruction and entertainment that you’ve provided to me and many others.

😊
Phil you just made my night turned on RUclips and your video was the first one to pop up love watching you and have learned so much thank you and glad you are back.
😊
I like it Phil! It looks like a serving bowl for salsa or dip with space around it for, say, crackers or chips!
Or, a hat? Like, if you turn it upside-down?🤪👒🎩🤠
😊
Watch a lot of wood turning videos that bowl turned out FANTASTIC !!
😊
Good to see you Phil, you just gave us hope for more of what we have all missed these past few weeks. Funny thing is I too see a pulmonary doc who also does woodworking and turning, bad thing is for my check ups we talk about my lungs for 5 minutes and 30 minutes about turning! Take care of them lungs! Once again your piece is Wonderphil.
😊
oh it always a pleasure watching a Phil video. i absolutely love this one....makes me want to try to emulate it....Take care of yourself and we'll be here when you're ready!!!!
😊
First off, great piece Phil, you never fail to take the right turn when you come to a decision on something. Secondly, I know that every one of your subscribers is sending prayers your way for a swift return to good health. (Getting into these “golden years” isn’t for the faint of heart…
Please take good care of yourself, there’s lots of us who really care.

😊
Glad to see you back with another "cracking" project! Good luck!
😊
You are greatly missed, Phil, when you are not bringing us your amazing turnings. My prayers are with you. I really liked this "emerging" bowl. Different, yes, but still a lovely piece. Please take care of you!
😊
Happy to see you back Phil. You're my favorite woodturner. Hope all is well.
😊
Greetings, Phil, or as we like to say in Texas, "Howdy!"
Glad to see you working again. Praying that you'll be restored and back to it in no time. Take care and get well soon.
😊
Happy to see you at it again. Happy for your couple of good days. Sorry that it is not a full return to productivity. Know that we are all praying for the day you are healthy again. Gid bless!
😊
We all missed you Phil and we are happy to you back at turning. God bless you and stick with it!
😊
I think it's beautiful Phil... and I'm sure that bowl smiled at me in the end there as you held it up at 26:02, there were even two spots that could pass for eyes ☺... it was lovely watching you work again and you're still in my prayers Phil... thanks for thinking of us and know that we're think of you...
I see the smiley face too, Ruthlyn! 😊
So glad to see you again. I've missed you! 💚
😊
Good to see you Phil! I hope you can keep turning for us. I like all your bowls and this one is just a little more unique than some others...
😊
Phil, it is so good to have you back for this video! You have been missed! I absolutely love your Calmwood Creations creation (not to mention the Phil-ed cracks comment). I have never seen anything turned like this before, either, but as you were developing it, I could only think of this being a combination of a charcuterie board with a bowl on top, or, a new term, a Charcuterie Bowl. Now, it just needs to be filled. Whoops, sorry, it was already Phil-ed! I'm praying your doc visit goes well and you can get back to good health.
Thanks for your delightful comment, Douglas! 😊
Or a cheese ball and crackers. Just line the bowl with plastic wrap before putting the cheese ball in. (Or find a plastic or ceramic/glass bowl that fits it well.)
I have enjoyed all your creations Phil. I wish you a speedy recovery. Get well.
😊
Brilliant to here your voice again. I had pulmonary embolism a couple of years ago but now just about back to good health.
All the best Phil.
😊
Praying for your good health Phil, and it is true, you are a true inspiration,to all of us. God bless you. Keep'm com'n
Thank you, William, I'm working on it! 😊
😊
Thanks Phil. You just made my day. Beautiful piece. Great to hear your voice. 👍😀
