I totally read the question about post trail foot care wrong. While I don't think much care is need post trail I do think pre trail can help make your hike much for comfortable and I talk about that in this video.
No need to apologize for taking some time off, but I sure am appreciative when you do decide to upload. I've learned a lot from you Frozen! I love your perspective on the CDT. I have a family and 4 kids right now and although I was fortunate enough to take my oldest on the JMT this past summer, those longer trails are just not in my deck of cards right now. My family situation just isn't in a place where I can do the AT, PCT, or CDT. But it will happen eventually. All things in their proper time and place. I also think that, sneakily, you've converted to tent camping!
My favorite vlog is when you hiked with your daughter. Would love a few blogs about family hiking, what to bring, who packs what and how to help kids or new hikers to hike without getting injured, pole work, how different landscapes affect walking etc..
Thanks for the update. It looks like you’ve got your whole life and work situation all balanced out. Good luck w the renovations and look forward to all your future medium trail vids.
I feel you about the winter time! Also thanks for the basement tour! Where did you get that desk? I am looking for one that is big enough for me and most standing desks are pretty small.
The owner of Tensa did the entire PCT with a hammock a few years ago. Of course he had to use a stand in the desert. I don't remember if he used a trekking treez or a full Tensa stand.
Thanks for answering the cowboy camping question (fellow PA hiker here). Is this the new camera? Looks great. What editor did you have problems with and what are you considering? I've been loving Davinci Resolve - bit of a learning curve but free and supports 10 bit 4:2:2 and 4k
Frozen did you need a permit to Film your thru hike in the national parks to be able to monetize your youtube channel? I heard that there might be a fee to do that and I'm not talking about the PCTA permit that they do a lottery for. Thanks Dean
I love that you want to do 4-14 day trips!! It affords you diverse trips and it will definitely be fun to watch!! So good to see you speak of your experiences again! Thank you for sharing!! 😊🥾🥾⛺️😎
To me I don't think it's as big of a deal as they are making it out to be. Most didn't enter into Canada and the people that did were stuck for a few days waiting for a bus shuttle that filled up very fast anyway. Had I not coordinated a ride with my parents I think it would have been better to go back to Harts pass and take the shuttle down into Mazama.
@@FrozensAdventures Good reply in my opinion. At the end of a PCT hike going back to Harts Pass is almost as fast, maybe even faster than going through Canada unless you have a specific reason to do so (like being Canadian). The exception is if there are winter conditions when you reach the border. I'm not a US citizen and went back to Harts Pass just to avoid the hassle of exiting the US and then having to reenter the US again without having "officially" left.
I’m Québécois Canadian. I live thirty miles from the border, it’s not as tight as mentioned . Actually the Trump Monster is complaining about us not being serious enough with security.
Nice Marshall stack! I'm jealous ;p... what kind of guitar do you play? I'm an SG guy but looking to expand my horizons lol... oh ya and thx for the vid!
I have an LTD (ESP) 607B. It's a 7 string, solid body with active EMG's. Great tone on the thing! It could use a string replacement and some love. I haven't been motivated to pick it up in a few years though but I will get back into it.
Kungsleden is in Sweden. I’d recommend you watch the videos of Erik Normark. He’s my favorite. Long walks with very few words. He’s a professional photographer, used to be a teacher. He stopped making videos when he was seriously ill. Shame… You can see his old videos, still. I sometimes binge on his videos when my soul needs nature.
Lots of interest on this and honestly I would love to!! The first step for me was switching to a new video editor and I am learning the ins and outs of the software now. If I do a documentary I'd expect a fall release as I really want to dial everything in and do it right. The last documentary pushed me to be a better video editor and I want to do the same again.
@ it’s a beautiful story! Your fans have no pressure on you to release one or not, but it would be a good way of packing the journey into an hour and a half, and cool to look back on one day :)
Question - Did you run across any hikers flipping around the Sierra? Details? I note you were frustrated with the slow pace and limitations on conditions there hindering your progress. I'm on for a 2025 mid-April start and...scheming. I'm an AT and CDT completion vet and am not invested in continuous footpaths and other strictures as the CDT broke me of such illusions.
A couple people just skipped it entirely but then they got stuck further north. You are looking to have a record low level of snow this year so you might get extremely lucky with snow but then you gotta look out for fire issues as the tradeoff. Have a great time on the PCT! Also it's important to note that my frustration on my slow movement mostly came from my time restrictions. I had to be back by September 1.
Welcome back So your video editor is giving you troubles since you haven't said what it is I'm going to take a guess that it is probably one of the newest DaVinci resolves the ones with the AI bullcrap in it And if so if that's the case and you will have to upgrade your processor to one of the newest intels or maybe to the newest AMDs but you already know about those Or maybe even an arm a small rig of some sort just for light duty but then again you have your phone for that since that's arm base anyways Well take care young man Hope you and the family are doing good well you're looking good so there's that Hope work is going good for you and one day maybe who knows when we might be able to get another RUclips meet up going again Cheers dude
Hey CG hope you have been well! Actually Adobe Premiere CC has been a trainwreck for me the past year and it finally made me switch to Davinci Resolve Studio. I only have 3 videos on it but it's already 300 times better than what I've been dealing with in Adobe. My RTX 3070 and 9700K are handling resolve fine. But my wife needs a computer soon so I'll be building a new one for me next winter and giving her this PC.
@FrozensAdventures Are you going to get yourself to 5090 right along with the the newest AMD and the creator board?? With 8,000 megaz DDR5 I know I would if I were you maybe not the video card so much but the other is yes
@cgriggsiv nah probab ly a 5070ti or 5070. I don't need all the power for a xx80 or xx90 series. And I'll stay Intel as I've had bad luck with AMD in the past.
Wouldn't recommend the Kungsleden, mainly because it's overrun, too expensive, bad weather and mosquitos. The Trail is ok, but it could be a lot better. It's very monotonous and there are better trails in scandinavia.
10k in total, is that about the same as the AT? Glad my 4 years of 1 dollar Patreonage covered 0,5% of this hike, money well spend! :) p.s. I send you a DM on Patreon months ago but not sure if you still check those.
For some reason I've been having a ton of problems with that platform and message notifications. Sorry I will manually check now! I only spent $1000 per month out there so it was around $5200, much much cheaper than a PCT hike.
Ozark Trail? There’s not enough videos on it. Yours would be great! I’ve done it 3 times, not a ton of people and quite. I’m in STL and always willing to help anyone get to the trail. Hit me up

Don't ever apologize for taking care of yourself. :) I'm glad you're back.
My favorite vlog is when you hiked with your daughter. Would love a few blogs about family hiking, what to bring, who packs what and how to help kids or new hikers to hike without getting injured, pole work, how different landscapes affect walking etc..
Working on another hike with her. She's in the phase now where she changes her mind a lot. But she has recently expressed interest again.
Lol if u think her changing her mind is just a phase. I'm a 52 year old woman and I'm STILL in that "phase" 😂😂😂
Thanks for the update. It looks like you’ve got your whole life and work situation all balanced out. Good luck w the renovations and look forward to all your future medium trail vids.
The behind the scenes look around was pretty cool. Thanks.
I feel you about the winter time! Also thanks for the basement tour! Where did you get that desk? I am looking for one that is big enough for me and most standing desks are pretty small.
I got it on Amazon for a good price. You can check it out here. Pretty solid construction amzn.to/4hBOpCi they have up to 63"

I upgrade to the paid studio version of resolve so that I can export 10 bit. Still learning the new software but enough to edit videos again.
I did the JMT with a hammock and agree with your assessment. It wasn't too bad in July, but I'll take a tent next time.

What is your reaction to Canada's ban over walking across their border to the end of the PCT? I heard this yesterday.

@FrozensAdventures 🤘🤘🤘a proper metal guitar... my next purchase will have active pickups... thx for the amazing videos!

Adobe premiere all that made it even worse for you That's one of the things you might want to get rid of and go to DaVinci resolve

You just keep hiking your hike and it will be alright.
