During the winter months, the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad operates only as far as Cascade Canyon because of deep snow and avalanche danger near Silverton, Colorado. It's one of the most magical times to ride the train though, as the Animas River Canyon becomes a winter wonderland each time it snows. This video shows 2-8-2 #480 pulling the Cascade Canyon Train at the beginning of 2022, just after a major storm passed through Colorado on New Year's Eve.

I've watched their videos so often now and know a little about American museum railways and associations. I just ask myself: How do I get to these film locations at Start in the Canyon and at the end? I have to walk across the track, don't I? For upcoming film projects we want to travel to you ourselves and ask ourselves: How can we make similar recordings?
Try the Cumbres Toltec RR, it’s a much better ride.
