God bless.
Will as a mechanic of 30 odd years and engineer of 15 you do nothing wrong....amazing video and lots of laughs. As always you totally crack me up mate... very informative and bloody funny x
Glad you enjoyed it David. I crack myself up making these vlogs. Happy new year.
The one light you don't want, made it disappear and must feel rewarding. Light begone!
Yes but it came back a week later. How strange. Cheers for tuning in Robert.
I don’t drive ,own a vehicle or even a bike 😂 but I watched all the way through and enjoyed it 🤷🏼♀️😊
Wow! well done Sharon. I don't expect many views on these vlogs but if it helps one person then I'm happy. Thanks for getting through it. 😁😁🤭
Great video fella 👍 those dam abs rings get full of brake dust over time and sensor then can't detect drive shaft / wheel rotating. Good on Will for the carpark mechanics how satisfying eh 😊
About a week later the abs light came back on. Strange. I might have to do the fronts next. Thanks for watching
@NarrowboatWill If that's the case then you probably have an abs pickup that's starting to breakdown. The only way to really identify which one is plug in to the obd port a scanner like carly or the like and run live data on the brake system whilst driving and that should pin point which one is the offending wheel axle at fault.
Have a great day Will and play some golf when you get opportunity again.
A interesting video I’m no car mechanic but found it interesting and informative well done, merry Christmas hope it was a nice one for you. Cheers 🎊 🎉
Thankyou for the positive comment Philip. My brakes feel so much better. Happy new year.
Expertly done Will, nice to see your Snap-on wrench.
Snap on screw driver as well. Turned to blue point later I think. Cheers Philip.
Can't believe I watched all that, but your voiceover and the full explanation of what was going on made it genuinely interesting. It's also satisfying to see things being restored to function well. You also know exactly what you're doing, so I don't believe the phrase "I'm not a van mechanic". I'm not, but I'm also clueless as to what needs doing
Glad you enjoyed it. Great comment thankyou.
I have never done that stuff but I think you do a marvellous job, you have a lot of practical knowledge a very rare thing nowadays .I hope you had a good Christmas and happy new year
Ahhh bless you for watching Janice. This stuff is not everyone's cup of tea. I had a very quite chilled Christmas. Happy new year
If you clamp the brake pipe and open the bleed nipple the calliper piston will go back easier as you won’t be pushing the fluid all the way through the line to the master cylinder. I’ve been a mechanic for over 40 years and swear by copper slip. Never had any problems with it that you describe.
Thanks for that. They went back ok but I'll try that on the front pads. We were told to stop using grease on brakes. I bet some idiot somewhere put grease on the brakes instead of the back. I still use it but not on moving parts because it goes rock hard over time. Thanks for watching Malcolm.
good vid thanks lee
Cheers again Lee
Great video 👍🏻exactly how my dad told me to do it 👊🏻👍🏻if anything I’ve learnt something about copper grease 👊🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good stuff glad you enjoyed it. Cheers Mark
Merry Christmas Will
Merry woofmas Kat
Good video there,I’ve really held back there Will,😂
Getting ready for the new year with a clean set of pants on, oops, meant to say pads😂.
👍👍👍👍👍🎅🏻⛄️🇬🇧🥳
😂😂😂 it really felt satisfying to find a couple of problem and solve them. My brakes feel so much brakier....ha ha Thanks Thomas
PS the flecks of blacking you got on the upper part of your boat ,came from when you was rolling the blacking on ,,cause rolling to fast, causing fleek's of paint to be flicked into the air ,
I don't think it is. It's old paint from under the blacking from when I jet washed it. If it was blacking it easily wipe off with thinners or petrol. Bloody annoying but thanks for your input Malcolm.
Just done that on my trafic. The pads fell out they were so worn and then one of the pistons popped out. Managed to get it back in though. Seems all right. 👍
Wow your piston popped out. Sugar they were worn. Did you bleed the system? Cheers for watching.
@@NarrowboatWill year had to. It's not great but they work
Nice one will top job you no when you cleaned the ABS ring did you spray-break cleaner on it after you got the crap out wi that pick just wondered I aways give it a go on mi car sometimes I can do it other times I end up calling mi mate out to sort it but when I change mi pads I will give it a go hope you had a good xmas and have a good new yr Cheers Will 🙂⛳️🔧✌️
Yes I did Lee. It was full of crap. Merry exams have a great new year.
I used to change the blocks and service the rigging on trains, before they had disk brakes, as the modern stock does. I don't think that experience is very relevant though! Two blocks on each wheel, both 14lb castings. New blocks every 2-3 weeks, and you could remove the old ones with finger and thumb before tossing them out. "All stations to Waterloo" = a lot of braking, and lot of big castings worn away to almost nowt.
Two things look easier on a van - the blocks don't weigh 14lb and you never have a toilet pipe dripping down your neck while you're putting them in. So best of luck!
Ha ha ha wow what a hard job you had. Changed That often? I bet they produced alot of dust and it was a filthy job. My van's slightly easier. Ha ha cheers
Thanks for that. I really enjoy watching you fix things while explaining what's going on. Wouldn't have a clue otherwise. Genuine question, when you were spinning the disc(?) just before putting the wheel back on on the first side, it was making slightly crunchy noises, and you said it was running smoothly. Where was the crunchiness coming from then? Why is that okay? (True questions, as I know zero about vehicle maintenance, other than checking tire pressure and making sure fluids are topped up. LOL)
That was the new pads scratching the disc. That's fine as long as it's not binding. That will ease off when the new brakes bed in to the old disc. Great question.
Definitely mucky thumbs after this
My thumbs are always stuck in something mucky. 😂😂💪
Hi Will I have always been told not to put grease on the very end of the pin as it hydraulics at the bottom of the chamber so won’t go all the way in just what I’ve been told🤷♂️
Yeah i understand that but the pins don't go all the way in. They sit about in inch from the end. cheers anyway.
You're having a laugh... yawn
Thanks
