    this can definitely be confusing but here's a little tip: to temporarily create a new construction plane and orient the camera facing the plane, - to create a plane in place without moving the camera

      A reply from the Big man himself!
      I did not know about Shift Space! that makes it a lot easier, and still infinitely easier to do than blender which relies on multiple steps to get similar behavior.
      Keep up the good work! 🤟

    Holy moly I have a feeling that plasticity might actually shake up the industry soon for everything hard surface ! Also going to sub to that patreon , I have been lazy procrastinating 3d work for the last couple months and NEED to get back at it between this and the previews of Blender 4.0 its really exciting times.

      Ever since I started 3D in 2016/2017 it feels like it has been advancing at an incredible pace! I started on Blender 2.78 and if you look at that to where we are now it is truly astonishing, from the UI to things like optix de-noising, the sculpting in blender and other cheap sculpting apps like Nomad Sculpt... I'm always excited for what is around the corner, and Plasticity really took me by surprise earlier this year.
      :D
      In Regards to the Patreon, feel free to sign up, it would mean alot to me and this channel I have just uploaded a bunch of Assets People can add to their Asset Library, as well as the screw kit bash from this video. and will be uploading more quality content and files from tutorials very soon.
      I also have a free version of my N-gone Plugin on GUMROAD with the Fully Featured version available for Purchase on both BlenderMarket and GUMROAD

      Would definately be cool to have more bridges in the future, I hope the quirks in the blender one get ironed out... If you haven't already there is a feature request page for plasticity you could put your request there

    Thanks for this... great video! I tried Plasticity a couple of months ago and was really impressed... I should really buy a copy and get back to it. Does the Blender bridge replace the export functionality? I seem to remember there was a quad option when exporting, as opposed to just tris, or n-gons as the only options on the Bridge?

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  9 месяцев назад +1

      Hi thank you! To answer your question, short in most cases it is a decent replacement but not always.
      I still find my self using OBJ exporter, which isn't a problem, the blender Bridge is still super convinient but it's not perfect yet, I actually did a video on the blender Bridge aswell.

    When does 1.3 ship? On its website it says Studio 1.0 and indie 1.1 but no 1.3 :/

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  8 месяцев назад +2

      It's been out a wee while now, just click the download link for Windows again on the main website, that's what I did. I think there may be even an update since I've made this video, I'm on the indie licence too and made this video after it was released.

    I've seen so many cool videos of this software and I wanna try it so bad. Can this tool be as precise as say autocad? Meaning can you enter distances for fillets, holes, intersections, etc.? I wanna use this for 3d printing and some amateur automotive design

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  10 месяцев назад

      You can press tab and enter distances for most things, it's using a high end cad kernel as it's basis so it's hypothetically as precise as anything else that uses that kernel, but whether or not it has the same granular precision I wouldn't know, but it's really not trying to be precise perse, it's real goal is to make CAD modeling more accessible to artists, so give the free trial a go. It's a pretty fun software regardless.

    off topic, but how did you copy the bevel setting by hovering over an existing bevel?

    • @MaxHancockCo
      @MaxHancockCo 8 месяцев назад +1

      oh, I figured it out. It has to be a bevel within the same object, that's what I was doing wrong. As you are making the bevel, hover over the existing bevel and command-LMB click on it. That bevel setting is copied over to the one you are making.

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  8 месяцев назад

      Just clicking should work for any fillet but it will fail if its not possible and sometimes will fail even if it is, it doesn't work for chamfers just fillets.

    Best for beginners....LOL. Quality of these surfaces is really bad for making a real product. If top nurbs do class A modelling, this is like class Z. It s a little toy

    • @takerefuge3d
      @takerefuge3d  8 месяцев назад +1

      I don't think the main goal of plasticity is for making real products though, it's not the main intention of the software in my understanding of it.
      Everytime I get a negative comment about plasticity it tends to be from people saying that it isn't any good for industrial design, but it isn't even for industrial design, so I find this point to be quite moot really.
