Sam Crowson one day I just hit me after years of hearing some people bash them. Each guy by himself probably isn’t going to knock your socks off but they do something ONLY they can do. What helped me realize too was a video of steve Jordan explaining rock and roll then I understood a little more of what the stones were doing and how special it is.
Wadin' through the waste stormy winter And there's not a friend to help you through Tryin' to stop the waves behind your eyeballs Drop your reds, drop your greens and blues Thank you for your wine, California Thank you for your sweet and bitter fruits Yes I got the desert in my toenail And I hid the speed inside my shoe But come on, come on down Sweet Virginia Come on, honey child, beg you Come on, come on down, you got it in ya Got to scrape the shit right off your shoes Yeah, I want you to come on, come on down Sweet Virginia I want you to come on, come on down Sweet Virginia I want you come on, honey child, I beg you I want you come on, honey child you got it in you Got to scrape that shit right off your shoes But come on, come on down Sweet Virginia Come on, come on down, I beg Come on, come on down, you got it in you Got to scrape that shit right off your shoes
it goes unnoticed that they wrote better country songs than any american band/artist. such a versatile group, if they werent in the same era as the beatles theyd be remembered as the greatest band of the century
Country musicians are doing another (another) tribute album to The Stones. It's going to be called "Stone Cold Country". You won't see them doing one to the Beatles, Zepplin, the Who, etc. This song's an example of why. They say, "It's a love letter from Nashville to The Stones". RIP, Mr. Watts.
the 1972 Dallas concert version of this song Is The Best Ever. (find it here on RUclips) The band still had their energy and edge. This version is totally flat and smooth by comparison.
“Sweet Virginia” was heard in CASINO (1995) for this one scene where Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci have to deal with this oversized gambler in cowboy hat who took off his boots and propped his socked feet on a table, in contravention of casino rules.
And this is why Sweet Virginia is my favorite Stones song. Wow what a rendition. Rip Charlie
One of the best songs ever. There is a very special vibe to Sweet Virginia. It's wild.

I’m not even a country fan but I can tell you that claim is simply not true.
😢
I meant after the stones
You're right, but why all this comparing different styles of music. Stop this competition please🕊
@@sterigma555 you're right if you were a country fan you would know
Браво !!!
I nominate this song to be the State Song 0f Virginia.

72 version is the best
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
You ever notice when someone claims best version it usually isn't. 1972 still the best hands down.

100% 72 not even close. Dead flowers is awesome with Taylor on guitar too.

I still can't tell if they suck intentionally on this one or not. Kurt CaBang would be proud either way
Epic track.
Sweet Black Angel might be better. 🤔🤫
At 1.57 Keith has a miss, nevertheless one of the best versions life!!
Scrape it!
Actually, 1971 video w Mick Taylor is better. Micks lead work is exceptional
As good as brown sugar... .
Keith 2nd voice🙂
Best version??? You have been smoking too much weed.
Really quacky acoustics here..
So F up or what ?
Ficou uma porcaria nem parece stones
On the Exile on Main Street recordings - it is some of Bobby Keys BEST WORK. IT JUST KICKS ASS.
Mick threw way a perfectly good harmonica.
