Exile is an absolute masterpiece. With Sticky Fingers the year before, The Stones with Mick Taylor were unstoppable in the early 70s. Top 3 Exile tracks: 1. Loving Cup 2. Ventilator Blues 3. Let It Loose
Mine is 1. Rocks off 2. Sweet Virginia 3. Casino boogie. Plus I'm going to give Torn and Frayed some love as a bonus. This may well change next time I take a listen 😉
"Got to scrape the shit right off your shoes" Mick´s lyrics may not win awards any time soon, but he nailed it with that line. (Or maybe Keith, it sounds like a Keith line).
this is a great arangement.. theres a ton of noodling going on on the exile version. so theres room to stretch ...i didnt hear the g7 ...i just play gmajj to gsus4 . but this sounds better ...
James James i’m fairly certain it’s from the miami show at joe robbie stadium which was broadcast live as a pay-per-view during the voodoo lounge tour. i believe whoopi goldberg introduced the stones and she can be seen on this vid swaying w bernard and lisa. james, regardless of any facts i may be mistaken about, there is no argument that this is my very favorite live version of sweet virginia. how stoked am i that you chose this version? i believe for the most part keith is playing the 2nd guitar part from the studio version and it is brought out more prominently in the mix here. still quite awesome! james i learned the studio version from your fine tutorial, then dived deeper using some mediocre tabs and a pretty good guitar pro file. if you stick with it there is some really great stuff to be mined from ‘sweet virginia’. thanks for another great vid. now i have more to learn!
This dude just has the best videos on this here app
Best tutorial for this song on the internet. Just show and no unnecessary exposition.
Shane Openo I love his banter, jokes and comments that he normally does. That is what makes James so entertaining/
Thanks so much James. Your videos are the most helpful guitar videos I've found on youtube. It helps that you have fantastic taste in music.

Wow yesterday I was just watching PT video of this song and thinking when you were going to put up a new video.
great tune with great stumming!
I was just playing along with the Stripped version the other night. The drums really stand out on that one, so it's good for me to play loud with.
Thank you. I've been meaning to learn this one!
JJ -- you have a great guitar collection, but that SJ is my favorite. Nothing sounds like it. Saving up my pennies....
Sublime.
Thanks. Great fun.
Perfect! Now, where do I get the JP t shirt?!

Standard tuning with a capo on 2? Great playing BTW!
mandolin on Exile versiion? y/n
I think they took Dean Martin's Little Old Wine Drinker Me and changed a chord to make a new song.
far out
Nice. Is that Jimmy on the T?
Jimmy playing the d chords on the twelvestring before going into the solo on Stairway.
What live version is this?
It's something from about 10 years ago that I found on RUclips. Sorry, I haven't really kept track of Stones tours since 1981.
