1972 #108 1000cc ironhead sportster bike rebuild repair street tracker harley by tatro machine
here we go again. the customer just wants a bike he can ride more than 15 minuets without it breaking and he thinks he wants a street tracker. he just purchased the bike and has been working on it trying to make it reliable but has given up because of all the problems.
now it is time to see what is wrong and fix it correctly. for fun we might make it to what the customer really wants.
time to start stripping down the bike until i don't find anymore things to fix. lets see how far i have to go before i start putting it back together again.

I have to say - your video on disassembling the 72 Sportster motor was one of the most educational videos I have ever seen. Very well done, (except for the cameraman. ) I have a 73 basket case that I am going to chop, and redo the motor and your video has really encouraged me that it can be done. Thanks for taking the time and effort to do this.

Use the swing arm hole as pilot insert shaft through both sides with cutter on one side. It should ream and square up at the same time if cutter is square. Then shim up and or weld in metal. :) The cameraman is real handy n the shop.

i don't see how using the swingarm is going to help any. thanks for the idea of the cutter. now i van make a piloted counterbore to get the job done correctly. i forgot about using them for this type job.
