    All it needs is a few UV diodes in the mix and she will be a beauty. Also, moving that power cable to the top of the fixture would also be good, as when its on the side, it pushes into the side of the 2x2. And I think the '1000w' of power is relating to what is supposed to replace compared to a HPS maybe? Lots of companies do that. But its good to see an LED that isn't just focused on the center of the tent to get good PAR numbers.

    • @timpage5021
      @timpage5021 4 года назад +1

      UV diodes are usually the 1st to fail causing other LEDs to soon follow suit . Grab a Agromax pure UV T5 2 foot fixture. 3 hours a day last 3 weeks of flower. Or get a UV lamp from the pet store. They dont need much UV. But UV is super beneficial as cannabis coats it blossoms with resinous THC cannabinoids to protect itself from UV radiation.

    I have two of the 1000s ,yes they run hot but when you grow up north it’s good .... throws off enough heat to keep plants at 70 And with a fan for the plants with a cpl vents open its perfect.

    i think the "1000Watts" marking indicates the equivalent when growing with HPS lamps, and not that itself draws 1000W.

      cdh79 yup and he then states it would not replace a 1000 watt HPS / MH. Which i give him kudos because that means he actually is going of Ppfd and PAR figurea

    You gained my respect when you said 1000w is interesting due to it definitely not replacing a 1000 watt bulb or drawing 1000 watts. I am looking forward to watching more videos. I have gone through Mars Hydro and Relassy. My Relassy burnt out numerous times and my Mars Hydro is still going strong from a few years of daily use. Nice quality for the price...due to the burning out of diodes I was focusing my attention to high end fixtures but it's hard to justify spending that much for just a hobby.

    I had to sell mine because it was just too hot for the small space I was trying to make use of. I’m absolutely pleased with the Spider Farmer lights and they are great for using in a modular setup for larger spaces. I also just got a Carambola quantum board that is very similar to the SF1000 but without the Samsung lm301b diodes or the meanwell driver but surprisingly it’s just as bright and half the cost. It’s also designed to be connected to multiple units to make any custom size necessary for your space. I was late to get on the led train but I have to admit with a little bit of adapting to them I can’t see myself ever going back to HPS or CMH even though I have had many years of great success with the old tech. I really think the led technology has become advanced enough to out perform HID’s and at a more reasonable price point now.

    Looks as if there moving in with newer led technology like hlg. Better then that dam old 300 watt model they been making 1,000,000,000 of now. That saying you would still need 4 of this model for a 4×4. That would get you the 600 watts you need for a 4×4. I'm actually probably going to get one to test. Thanks justin you the man. I also just got done finally building one of my 4 rapid cree cob builds,to add some reds,I took apart my over powerful growant 900 and used 4 of the lensed modules on the for corners. I plan on replacing them with something better when I find something. Trying to get away from the old 3/5 watt diodes. Technology changes fast. 👍

    1000W is what they "state" it is equivalent too. Of course the LED industry can claim all he false facts they want because there is no standard. Unfortunately, I don't see that changing any time soon. What I can say is that Mars tends to charge for marginal performance. Good video though and good feedback. After watching this video, it pretty much summed up my questions. I wont be investing in the TS1000 based on the info you put out. Thanks for the solid info!

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  5 лет назад +1

      The only issue I have with it is the lack of a fatty heat sink so it gets pretty hot. The output is great and the spectrum should be great for veg to bloom. It's checked all the boxes for me on a cheap grow light. I'm using it right now to veg a 4x2 and it's working great. I actually had to raise it up a bit because it was a little too bright in the middle. We'll see how the reliability is in the long run. I have another fanless unit and it also gets really hot and I've been using it for over 3 years.

    As you already have a par-meter and a watt meter it would be AWESOME if you could do about 9 measurments (I recon it is a 3x3) to compute average par reading. Then we could compute the par per watt and compare it with the sp250 light of mars (which gets to 1.8 ppfd/watt)
    I know it is a bit of work but you tested so much and stopped just shy of computing average :)

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  5 лет назад +3

      Frank Krumnow that’s because I really don’t care about a computing average. They offer that info from the factory. You don’t need that to know this light is good, you can see the readings it’s putting out in real world application. Nobody needs to compute anything to read a par meter. I make videos for normal people.

And that little white plug wnear where the output is you can take that out to dim it? Lol i was scared to. All in all its bright af and looks great! Just will have to buy or rig up some light hooks. Also looks like that light would be best to flower for a 2by2 tent. Posibly veg a 3by3 tent.also i would like to say.it would be a great micro grow light. Maybe with a light mover as well if you wa ted to do a 2 foot wide room that is like 7 feet long. Like a closet grow. And with a 142 watts. Not bad

    Of course it’s gonna be hot! There is no heat sink on it at all!!! Just reflector that’s it of course that’s gonna get hot as hell. There is nothing to take the heat at all. My 550s half a good 1/4 inch thick aluminum heatsink on it. Mars would need get a heat sink on that ASAP b4 I’d ever use one! But that impressed the hell out of me as well! Mars stepping up their game a bit huh??

    • @Justintime2grow
      @Justintime2grow  5 лет назад

      Yea they could use a larger heat sink but even by cree/meanwell kit without a fan runs super hot. As does my rapid LED kit. Any fanless kit is going to feel hot. Yea they seem to be stepping up their game.

    • @Randykushman420
      @Randykushman420 5 лет назад

      I’d say my hlg 550 gets warm to the touch. But u can leave your hand on it without burning yourself. My buddy just got this same light to veg out a 3x3 and I can’t believe how hot it is. U can’t rest your hand on it very long at all without it being extremely uncomfortable. But other then the heat this light is very nice for a budget light! Mars stepping up their game big time. I was even thinking about getting one for veg. But think I’m going to DIY come quantum boards instead.

      @Justintime2grow  5 лет назад

      Randykushman420 yeah man you’re not kidding it runs hot lol. I’m sure the hlg has a a lot thicker heatsink. That’s why I warned people in the video about letting things rest on it.
