Nice video Gary!!!! The little tube is exactly for what you said. If you seal it off the bellows would blow off. If you leave it open It would pull in water and grit. I replaced several bearings in the early 2000s as part of a gm recall but other than replacing rack and pinions that is about as deep as I have ever been in one. I've rebuilt a sector or two and plan on rebuilding the box on the Volksrod.
I've replaced some of the seals already but one of them is buried deep in the housing. I will do another follow up showing some of the harder ones to do. Look forward to seeing the steering box rebuild - I've never done one. Thanks!
