The Magic of Scottish Highland Railways at Dawn

  • Up before dawn to photograph the Caledonian Sleeper and an early morning freight through Blair Atholl, I also catch a couple of night time Scotrail HST's and how I photograph moving trains at night.
    An early start to get to Blair Atholl railway station for the Caledonian Sleeper followed about 15minutes later by the DRS Tesco liner to Inverness, the previous evening I caught a couple of Scotrail HSTs and I briefly cover a trick to photograph moving trains at night.

    • @AndrewShenton
      @AndrewShenton  Год назад

      Thanks Andy, the Tesco 66 was a single shot, fortunately I didn't need to merge that one, with it being head on, the shutter speed can be lower, not as much motion blur as if the subject is side on, so I got away with it - just.

    Enjoyed the video thank you and took note of the tip about taking two images to merge in Photoshop of nighttime shots. Just wondered though whether you can get a good enough alignment between the images if shooting them handheld; I guess you can!

    • @AndrewShenton
      @AndrewShenton  Год назад +1

      Many thanks, Chris, when photographing hand held, I frame up a little wider to allow for any mis alignment between shots - the alignment is an automated process in Photoshop and it usefully does a good job, unless the two shots a miles out.
