    Depending on your major and your previous college credits, you might be able to get away with 12 credits a semester and still graduate on time. I've never taken more than 4 classes at once and I'm actually graduating a semester ahead of schedule. I recommend everyone have regular communication with their academic advisor to evaluate your situation.

    I got my login before I was even accepted. For registering, it's all online. All I did was click the class I wanted, and if there were seats open, I was in right then and there. Super easy for me. I have classes Monday to Friday. 2 on Monday Tuesday Thursday Friday and one on Wednesday

    My university is a bit different for first year than it seems to be the usual for first year classes. Mine at least, for theatre, the recommended classes for first semester students is 4 theatre classes and one English or Academics class. Second semester they prefer more classes not specifically to theatre, like the culture or sciences. That really helped me plan on my classes more even though I'm a senior in high school

    You look like Claire from Degrassi (Auslin Paul) but prettier. I've seen story times about advisors who told people to only take 12 credits a semester and the students have to take over 19 credits in their last two years to graduate on time. I'm double majoring and I have my classes planned out so I graduate on time. My school gives us a booklet and a sheet whenever we go to advisement with the requirements so we can fill out the gen eds as we go. It's really helpful. Loved the video

      Thank you! I know so many people who have had adviser trouble, that's why I love when they give us sheets or booklets for our requirements. Good luck with your double major! I'm really glad you found the video helpful! If you have any questions feel free to ask :)

    I'm actually planning on going to MTSU Fall of 2018. These videos are really helping me understand and prepare properly. Could you explain exactly what the hours mean? Because of course, your going to be in class longer than 15 hours a semester. I've just never really known how to ask it.

    • @katiegolan980
      @katiegolan980  7 лет назад +4

      The hours are how many hours a week you are in that class. So, if you have a Monday, Wednesday, Friday class that class will be 50 minutes because you have it three times a week and 50 minutes multiplied by 3 classes a week equals three hours. If you have a Tuesday, Thursday class that will be 75 minutes because you go to that class twice a week and 75 minutes multiplied by 2 equals three hours. There are some classes that aren't three hours a week, but most are. Does that make sense? And also I'm happy the videos are helping! It's awesome you're getting prepared already!

    This is so weird to me, being British. We literally just have to take the one subject we applied to study, but we get to do it in lots more detail. I don't think I've done any maths or science at all since I was about 15 and at high school.

      Same in most universities in Canada here too, lol America is weird and ridiculously expensive. There’s only one class of three options I’d have to take at my hopefully future uni regardless of my major but I’m doing IB so i’d get a credit for it and not have to take it anyway

    Would you consider your Honors course that you've taken at MTSU to be extremely harder, kinda harder, or easier than the standard courses? Also, if you've taken Honors History (for gen-ed) what professor and course would you recommend?

    • @katiegolan980
      @katiegolan980  7 лет назад +4

      Most of them haven't been harder, they've just been more work than average classes. And usually the professor's grade harder. I took one of my gen-ed histories in high school, so I only had to take one at MTSU and I took Lynn Nelson, but I do not recommend him! I'm not familiar with the others but if you ever see him as an option for you I would stay away if I were you. His class is one of the hardest I've taken, so unless you really love history and reading 50 pages of old documents and writing papers over them every week, then I suggest avoiding him.

    i’m scared i’ve heard a lot of advisors are really awful and tell you to take classes that you don’t need or make your schedule to where you won’t get all your requirements

    Hi! I have customs next week and am debating on doing honors. I have taken honors classes all throughout high school and have a lot of dual enrollment credits, but I was wondering how different the honors college courses actually are to regular college classes? Love your videos!

    • @katiegolan980
      @katiegolan980  7 лет назад

      Thank you! I almost didn't do honors in college, even though I did in high school just like you, but I decided to take it during my customs. The classes aren't really harder, they are just more work and the professors are a bit stricter usually. If you are on the fence about it, I recommend taking two honors classes your first semester, just to see if you think it's worth it, and if you don't like it you don't have to do it again. My reasoning is that it's much easier to drop honors if you don't like it after one semester than to decide later you want to try it and have to make up all the credit hours. Do you have an questions about the program that might help you decide?

      @AshyB653 7 лет назад

      Katie Golan I actually do have one! I am majoring in New Media Communications, and I saw that you were also majoring in Mass Comm. Do they offer a good amount of honors courses pertaining to that degree? I know you said that they do not offer a ton for honors, but I have almost all of my gen-ed's out of the way so I would be going in taking classes having to do with my major for the most part. I would love to do honors because of the perks that you get from doing it, so I'm hoping that they do have a lot!

    • @katiegolan980
      @katiegolan980  7 лет назад

      Sadly no :( There is only one class for mass comm that is offered as honors. American Media and Social Institutions is a gen ed for emc, photography, and recording industry majors. I believe you would be emc, so you would need this class. It's the only honors communications class offered, I'm pretty sure. But there are still some gen eds you probably still have to take that you can get honors out of. Like humanities and behavioral sciences, and of course if you need to take any math, science, English, and history classes, those are offered as honors as well for gen ed requirements.

    So talking about the hours..are you saying its 15-18 hours a day?

    • @katiegolan980
      @katiegolan980  6 лет назад +3

      Thankfully no! Class hours translate into how long you are in that class during the week. So if you have a three credit hour class that meets two times a week, that means each class period will be an hour and a half so that calculates to three hours of class a week. So if you take five classes that are 3 credit hours each you will be in class for 15 hours a week.
