My planner and my laptop are my two most needed items. Plus quality pens and pencils and erasers. And white out because i make so many writing mistakes taking notes in pen lololol.
I don't think y'all are undertanding the planner community is growing rapidly and I can't just use my phone. I need to see everything laid out in front of me in a planner.
No you don't. I don't own a planner or a diary or stuff like that and I did well in college. Some people may have a habit to use it and no offence to them, but all I'm saying is you can keep up with your work without a planner
Any laptop with office suite (if you cannot afford one, library use!). Google docs. One notebook per course (may or may not need each) a minimum 70 pages each. Folder per course (basic one). Binder for professional classes (example being education prep courses). Pens, pencils, high lighters. Flags and yellow stickies. A good (ie roomie) backback. You DO NOT need tech stuff unless it pertains to your major. Stapler and hole punch (those can also be found in tech centers). You'll figure out some of these things are needed, others are not... as you progress. Education majors don't need filming equipment, etc. you will find you need binders, a ton.
I actually just used the printers at my school's library and found that to be easier than keeping a bulky printer in my dorm, but I can totally see the convenience of having one.
some physics where you learn about wave length, frequency, speed of sound and stuff like that (that's where the math comes in but if you memorize the formulas you're good) and some psychoacoustics where you learn the physiology of the human ear and how it works with the brain to create your perception of sound, and how that sound affects you the curriculum may vary a bit depending on what school you go to though
I'm glad the video was helpful :) I think it can be hard for anyone to start college, whether you're shy or not. For me it was about finding people I had something in common with, so I made friends once I joined a club, and I made friends talking to people in my classes.
Pro-tip...if you are left handed in a lecture hall, you can sit in a right handed desk, then use the right handed desk yo your left as a surface to write on, if you don't want to use your lap, or twist yourself to the right handed desk to write on.
Idk if you're doing it on purpose, but I really love that you annunciate your speech. Some youtubers mumble or talk super duper fast that I can't understand, but it's so easy to understand what you're saying!
All my supplies for the upcoming Freshman year: Good (not expensive) backpack and Laptop case Laptop Graphing Calculator leftover from my calc. class in high school 5 college rule composition notebooks, 1 for each subject (I prefer comp. over spiral) 2 pronged folders Stapler and Staples 3 hole punch Old printer from home (no more than 3 or 4yrs old, with WiFi capabilities) Scissors (I'm always needing them around the house so I thought to bring a pair jic) A few packets of loose College Ruled paper and copy paper Small whiteboard w/ white erase markers (I'm very forgetful) Planner A few sketchbooks of varying sizes (art major) Art supplies A couple packs of mechanical pencils bc I run through them quick A few heavy duty mechanical pencils with extra erasers and lead Some reg. wooden pencils A good pencil sharpener (for art supplies) A couple larger white erasers Pencil case Red, Blue, and Black pens Pink, green, orange, and blue highlighter (a bit OCD about organization) Post it notes Stickies Index Cards That's about 99% of my "school supplies". I definitely didn't want to go overboard, but I want to be prepared enough so that I'm not panicking. All my supplies neatly take up a small tub, about 1x1 1/2x1 ft in dimension (1 ft wide, 1 1/2 ft long, and 1 ft tall)
I would say, it's always good to try to make friends with the person you sit next to, so at the very least you can have each other's numbers in case you miss class and need to know what you missed. And also it's easy to get distracted in a classroom if people near you talk a lot, so watch out for that. And if you can, always look engaged with what the professor is talking about. They notice students who zone out verses those who pay attention and that can help you if you ever need them to bump your grade or give you a recommendation or something.
i never really seen point of binders they are too hard to organise for me haha also i really find it interesting that you use pencils for tests where we can only use pens
Hi katia I like your video and I like the fact that you give great information on what you need for college. I would say it's good to have folders for each subject you take in college just to keep more organized other than that great job your video on
I supposed half of these depend on ur course..I study marketing and I had to get two massive binders for each semester. (And forget about that 5 subject notebook as it lasted me for just over a month and then simply just got a refill pad 🤷🏻♀️😂).I had a usb stick but found it quicker (or just lost the sick half the time) to just emailed stuff to myself. And life in college without a planner? Unless u are able to remember all the due dates and actives well then u might get going without it 😂 staplers etc are usually found in library’s (at least at my college) too!
I had to write a fair amount. I couldn't say exactly how many essays I had to write, but probably around 15 my freshman year, not counting one of my classes where I had to write at least one essay every week, but that was an unusually hard class.
Google drive can definitely be useful, but for some of my classes it was required for me to have a hard drive. Plus, it's just easier to me than using Google drive, but whatever you like is what you should use!
That would really depend on your major and your preference. If you hate typing on iPads then that wouldn't be too fun going through college typing all your papers on your iPad. Or if you want to take notes in class on it. It's entirely up to you. Anyone I ever see who uses an iPad as a laptop substitute has one of those keyboards that connects to it.
Have any college questions? Feel free to ask them in the comments! I will answer all of them to the best of my ability!!
Thank you!
the best laptop for college?
Katie Golanpooo
Kkkk

"You don't need a planner" hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Yes you do
Tanya Klein use your phone! It works the same way. Just don't write on it.
I don't think y'all are undertanding the planner community is growing rapidly and I can't just use my phone. I need to see everything laid out in front of me in a planner.
I tried to use one & id only fill out like a month before giving up and just using my phone 😂
Tanya Klein The current planner community is massive! 😃 I admin a few groups on fb myself 😊 #planneraddictlife haha

Noo waayy! I did that exact ocean/wave painting when trying to teach myself acrylics!! wow
A printer is a life saver
I actually just used the printers at my school's library and found that to be easier than keeping a bulky printer in my dorm, but I can totally see the convenience of having one.
Yeah, printing one sheet of paper was $0.25 for black and white one sided, $0.40 double sided or one side colour, and $0.70 for two sided colour
Printer is a necessity at these costs, printer cost $60 used and the ink wasn't that expensive.
Hp sells a cheap printer for $30
I was super nervous about spending way too much on school supplies and this really helped.
Your voice 😍 I feel like most youtubers are yelling at me haha. This was so gentle on my ears. Thank you!
Music performance major, no math but still needed a calculator for acoustics :P (math is always somewhere even if it's hidden)
Why must they do that to us? :(
some physics where you learn about wave length, frequency, speed of sound and stuff like that (that's where the math comes in but if you memorize the formulas you're good) and some psychoacoustics where you learn the physiology of the human ear and how it works with the brain to create your perception of sound, and how that sound affects you

What is college like if your shy and dont know anyone, i start this september xxxx this video helped alot xxxx

All these other people telling me u need binders folders and all of that, turns out I don't 💀😭
You're straight to the point. Love the vid!
Idk if you're doing it on purpose, but I really love that you annunciate your speech. Some youtubers mumble or talk super duper fast that I can't understand, but it's so easy to understand what you're saying!
Thank you! I try to be easily understood, haha :)
Nice video and I love your laptop. Alienware? Hella sick!
I toured the MTSU campus recently and if you are going into Audio/Sound Design you'll need a MacBook because all of the Studios run on mac.
I love your accent you have when you pronounce some words!! Thank you for all the advice! Xx
Oh, gosh, do I have a southern accent?! I try not to let it show! Haha, thank you! I'm glad you liked the video :)

I start community college in like a week. Any tips for a homeschooler who has never been in a classroom setting?
I would say, it's always good to try to make friends with the person you sit next to, so at the very least you can have each other's numbers in case you miss class and need to know what you missed. Yeah, I'm not a fan of binders. That is interesting, anytime we have a test on a scantron we have to use pencil.
I love this video! I'm going to my freshman year of college and honestly I'm anxious yet excited at the same time, haha!
Thank you :) I was the same way before my freshman year!
Kyndra Nicholle what college ? When did you start im going to eastleigh and start this sep

Hi katia

First year at uni! Your voice is so soothing. Subbed!
Thank you so much! Good luck with your first year!

I don't know why you don't have more subscribers
Aw, thank you!!
lmao i'm already saving for a laptop ahhaha
I'm a freshman in college and I wanted to ask if you had to write a lot of essays
I had to write a fair amount. I couldn't say exactly how many essays I had to write, but probably around 15 my freshman year, not counting one of my classes where I had to write at least one essay every week, but that was an unusually hard class.
Katie Golan oh wow, that's a lot. Hopefully college goes well for me
Love the way you explained things... Need a calculator for calculating... XD
Do u have vid like this for freshman highschool???????????
My major at university doesn't require math!! Granted I'm a Biblical Studies and Theology major but I love my major so that's okay
StephanieJean6 I’m going to college for biblical studies too! What supplies do you use???
Soooo helpful thank you x
I want to do creative writing, does anyone know what I specifically need?
What laptop is that?
It's an alienware by dell, but I can't remember which model it is.
Lol lucky me, I don't have to take math because my major is in musical theatre 😂❤ just found your channel and I'm already a fan 😄
You're so lucky! Haha! Thanks, I'm glad you like the channel!!
Thank you so much this was so helpful
I really like your typing intro!
Thank you :)
Where are you from Katie?
Fellow Tenneseean here, I'm from Memphis so I'm probably going to go to The University of Memphis, but I've looked at MTSU!
That's awesome! I know some people at the University of Memphis, they like it :)
What brand is your laptop?
It's a Dell, specifically and Alienware.
You are sooo cute and idk but im just happy watching your videos
Thank you so much!
Silly girl just use Google drive (: great video tho
Google drive can definitely be useful, but for some of my classes it was required for me to have a hard drive. Plus, it's just easier to me than using Google drive, but whatever you like is what you should use!

great vid !
Thank you!
ur eyes are so pretty
Thank you! ❤️
What do you think of using iPad Air 2 as a laptop substitute?
That would really depend on your major and your preference. If you hate typing on iPads then that wouldn't be too fun going through college typing all your papers on your iPad. Or if you want to take notes in class on it. It's entirely up to you. Anyone I ever see who uses an iPad as a laptop substitute has one of those keyboards that connects to it.
