Dude...great video. I have a 2007 Chevy 14 passenger bus and all of a sudden AC quit. Have been working on it (not a mechanic at all) for a week. This video helps!

This is great, I got a bus and I’m also looking to maintain the A/C that came with it. This was a huge help. Idk why people get rid of these.

I deleted my skirt condenser. I had to find a condenser coil at the junkyard and all the hoses to get dash ac. The mini split inverter system is really efficient. It only pulls 200 watts once the space is chilled 600 watts max. Spray foam insulation is key. Now i have ac while parked running completely off solar.

Thats why school bus companies stopped fixing the units. Manufacturer dominance in service and pricing.

Cool vid😀 Good info to know. It seems like you're to small a fish to fry for those A/C guys since they're used to getting orders for a fleet of vehicles which sucks.
But they'd have to service some of those so you'd think they'd be able to sell a single replacement unit like you're asking for. Weird.
Glad you're not going 2x4 construction, just not ideal in vehicles with all the movement.
    Great series👍

With this system, the vehicle must be running for the AC to work correct?

Excellent video. I am wondering though. Do both the back AC and the front AC systems run off of the same compressor, or do they each have their own attached to the engine?

  • @Ryanwlmorgan

My bus has the same set up by MCC. When I power in AC it kicks on for one second then shuts off. I’ve had it filled. Any idea what might be causing this? Any first steps I can take. Two shops haven’t been able to diagnose it

Are you able to get cooling w/o running the gas engine? My 2016 e450 transit has two batteries under the middle lower chassis. that powers everything. I can run the ac and the evaporator under the driver seat but it only blows cool till I run the engine and it runs ICE cold instantaneously. Do you know of a way to get it to blow that cold w/o running the 10 cyl gallons per mile engine?

We just got an 03 E450 shuttle bus with 7.3 turbo diesel. The front A/C works (although it only blows out the defroster), but the rear only blows hot air. I’m guessing it’s something electrical that’s not letting the Freon get to the rear unit. A valve or something maybe?

I have a 2001 Chevy G3500 shuttle that I've been converting into a tiny house. I kept my A/C but have no idea where to begin to get it working. I can hear it running but no cold air is coming out, any ideas what could be the issue? The front A/C kicks on but the air isn't cold either, the seller charged it and said he put in freon but it still isn't cooling. .

I have a shuttle bus with a carrier unit on the inside. I just want to cap the line under the bus where the two fans are located in case I decide to get another unit in the future. I have no idea how to do this could you give me some advice. At this point I have the ac down and all the wires disconnected .

At edges you can feel the cold air but move over an inch or two and there's hot air !! Any ideas on what's going on here?? Sounded like yours is very close to this one.
