I personally think/hope it is a different interpretation of the lyrics. In the end of the day, Amys voice is way more oriented to the heart and soul. Whilst I love Addies "full on american" voice in songs like 'Popular Monster', it feels a bit off in terms of feeling in songs like these. What makes this song from Evanescence so great is... Amy voice feels like it is screaming from the inside of the heart and soul to the head and making it confused, comfortable and broken at the same time. It's nothing against America and their livestyle, but Addies voice is much more "American" (screamy, forward, pronounciation) than Amys, so at least for us europeans (especially non-english-speaking) Amy voice expressions feel much more natural to the heart. Still a great cover :).
