I still find funny how fights against parents and sons/daughters were very censored in the english version Like Crystal's mom instead of slapping her, it just... yells so much she flinches? Norman and Ruby is another example lol
I think that making him birch's son would hurt because people would see him as the rival not the protagonist, so I think making him Norman's son would be better since Brendan from the games is Norman's son so people would see him more as the protagonist and it would be better to keep him named Brendan than ruby in the anime and make him more competitive than he was in the manga.

It’s nice to see more discussion on the Adventures manga. My favorite arc is definitely the Hoenn arc, but the Unova arc is a close second. Especially the first half, the second BW2 part of the story was kinda all over the place until the ending when it got a bit more on track and it felt like the writer finally decided what the point of the story was. It felt like a re-tread and also as if we were ignoring the ending of the BW, I get the time skip and all, but you don’t just ignore it like that, and especially in the way they did. It built up tension and brought up a lot of questions which had answers, and it left certain important characters out of the story. White and Iris should have had their own slice of the story, even if it was all in the background and mostly separated from the main story. Those two, especially White felt needlessly sidelined without anything to do even in the end. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but BW is the better half between the two since it not only has a through line, but it doesn’t juggle as much as BW2 does. It handles it all a lot better, and it’s relatively smaller scope lends itself better to the story that was being told. But as a whole, including the extra bits like BW2 and ORAS, I still feel like Hoenn pulls out on top in sheer quality of writing and storytelling. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but that’s the condensed version of my opinions on the manga. Also the newer stories in Alola definitely suffered from all of the attention being focused on BW2’s story finishing up, doesn’t help with its release schedule, and with how it isn’t exactly considered a popular series. But it’s still a shame Alola got the short end of the stick, but if it’s between SM/USUM or BW/BW2 in terms of story, I much prefer the choice of Unova. While I enjoy Alola’s stories, I feel there is more to explore with Unova then there is for Alola, might just be me, but it’s clear the writer had the same opinion as me in that regard considering the choices made.

Pokéspe and Pokémon adventures are the same thing. It’s just that this one is covering a specific “arc” of Pokespe that’s likely different from the Pokespe arc you’re thinking of.
to be fair to Norman, Ruby got jumped by a Salamence when he was like 7 and only had a poochyena, skitty and ralts as his pokemon and when that wasn't enough he proceeded to do it himself and got a badass scar in the process. so yeah father and son are just the same.

Also Ruby would have probably won if he pulled out his secret weapon. Either way the two are obviously both in the wrong here. Norman is literally psychotic and bro literally tracks down his son just to beat him up. I mean, with a guy like that as my father, I’d run away rather then talk to him lol. Of course Ruby’s way too rash in his decision making which of course is one of his flaws in the first place but it’s still good that the two “sorted it out” like men… lol
You forgot to explain why Ruby walked away from following in Normans footsteps as a battler, so why not explain the relationship between Ruby and Sapphire next?
Ruby wanted to join Pokémon Contests, a feat his father despises, or so he thinks. The irony is that Norman wanted to let him do what he wants, but after learning he ran away, that's when the dominoes fall.
And all I kept thinking was, "Ruby wears glasses!" Is that not cool? And accurate. The fact is alot of artists tend to practice their craft without thinking of light and other such helpful stuff. @@ImyIsStillHere No, you’re missing the point. I never said the Pokémon Adventures Manga is the only manga in the Pokémon franchise, I was saying that the manga isn’t canon because it’s adapted from the games. The only source material in the Pokémon franchise is the video games.
@@DigiPen92 yup, we know it's not cannon to the games. It's a separate timeline
Norman in the manga: LITERALLY WILLIAM AFTON (but no child murder, just a shitty dad)
Norman in the games: *A good, caring loving father and a great gym leader*
Lmaoo that’s an extreme comparison
Norman wasn’t that shitty, just extreme. Ruby was the one that’s shitty if you read carefully.
@@bufan7177agreed
@@bufan7177 ruby is 10 years old man
@@caraqualquer9907
Eaxctly. Ruby is a child that needs correction.
I almost forgot how absolutely insane this manga could get 😭
The ruby and sapphire arc in this manga is top tier: so many incredible moments and arcs!
Also: amazing taste with the mega man starforce music!
I love how the art style is so goofy yet the content is so incredible. Those mangakas need a raise fr
Its really violent fr, but like, on a wolrd where 10yos are old enough to travel the world alone, then he might view Ruby as an adult already. And Ruby is strong enough to make him expectative
Norman is legit drawn with that Giovanni chin-line. He is EVIIIILLL.
At the end of the video you said tell you who I'd say is in the right but neither are. Instead there's someone in the wrong and that's obviously Norman.
Nah ruby was probably no definitely a disappointment to Norman so I can see him beating up his son.
Man the dad turned from Norman to Norminator
I still find funny how fights against parents and sons/daughters were very censored in the english version
Like Crystal's mom instead of slapping her, it just... yells so much she flinches?
Norman and Ruby is another example lol
Hearing the Megaman Starforce theme put a smile on my face
Ruby was HIM, one of my fav protags. Too bad the anime didn't debut him or made him Birch's son.
Ok... First of all Ruby does have a passion for battle, and he even has moves for them that can deal pretty bad damage as you see in the manga. He just hides his passion.
Ehh I’d still argue he doesn’t have a passion for it I feel like he just can battle and nowadays doesn’t mind doing it
@@VeeVoltno he simply channeled that passion into being a Coordinator. That was his big flaw.
While he focused on being beautiful, he was still the same kid who terrified Sapphire.
@VeeVolt I agree with this
He does still battle from time to time and is still pretty damn talented at it, but due to the whole childhood trauma with Sapphire, he avoided enjoying battles at first until he eventually lost interest and passion for it altogether
@@pn2294While battling Emerald, Ruby says that, while he doesn't hate battles anymore, contests are still his passion.
its more that he has the skill and drive of his father in battles but what he likes is contests
The manga is a fever dream; I wish we could get a series of games that adapt the manga’s storylines.
7:24 Nah bro, it’s a wrap, that is an ass whooping you will never walk away from you’re cheeks are gonna be sore for the rest of you’re life that man has death in his eyes.
It’s crazy how all this would’ve never happened if these two weren’t so damn stubborn and rash but I guess that’s what makes em father and son.
So THIS is where the abusive Norman from Rubyer came from.
The manga made me want to do a run of pokemon emerald with Ruby's team and it was so fun to use pokemon i normally don't.
Yeah the manga makes me love Pokémon that usually I ignore
He had Plusle (technically)
Did you use it?
@@SMCwasTaken no I just used the team he had for contest. Casform is pretty helpful with it's forms
What did he use?
@@Treeckoboi1 if you mean Ruby's contest team then it's
Swampert
Gardevoir
Casform
Milotic
Mightyena
Delcaty
Norman doesn't act like some strict and disciplined father in the anime.
Yup different canon norman in the anime is much nicer
Anime is made for the younger audience, manga is more mature
Anime Norman is actually a good dad
@@VeeVolt Thank Christ for that!
I didn’t realize the Mattyburrito animated version was so accurate
Same here
Miguel's theme is pretty accurate for Norman
I haven't actually read the manga so I love watching these.
Read the manga bro.
Ruby battleskills potential vastly surpasses his own dad Norman, so if he could became the regional champion with no problem, if he wanted to take this path.
Ruby and Sapphire arc was wild!
Brandon in Pokemon Masters: my dad's awesome
Ruby in Pokemon Adventures: @ Norman: ducking bich
Brandon in the anime: *Ceases to exist.*
Ruby is my favorite character so far, so I'm glad you made this 👍🏾
I can't wait till you get to my favorite scene in the whole pokespe series. It's a gen 4 scene and the utter absurdity of it is hilarious followed by some of my favorite character moments in the series.
Anyway great video man! Will be excitedly waiting for the next vid.
Ruby's journey kind of reminds me about my coming out experience with my dad...
Pokemon Manga is soo good
I wish you can cover Diamond’s impact on Team Galactic one day. Even though the Sinnoh chapter did have it’s flaws, I feel like Diamond was one of Adventures’ best characters, and the fact that he managed to make Mars laugh, fend off the Advance-level Grunt on his own TWICE, and even be the main cause of Cyrus disbanding Team Galactic is impressive in and of itself.
I’ll make sure to add it to the list
Man, not only do you cover content that is extremely interested and metal af, but you used the best music imaginable to accompany, megaman starforce music
Lets see another one I'd like to see is the Red vs Giovanni gym battle
Its final: I'm calling Child Protection Services on Norman. You don't just put your kid in a life-threatening situation and expect ANYONE to forgive you. ESPECIALLY f you do that MULTIPLE TIMES.
Norman's hairline kinda looks like Giovanni's so I guess this justifies it.
Lmaooo your not wrong
Norman couldn't deal with his son being gay...
Back in RS serial run, its really seen as a Dad who can't accept his son being gay.
3:45 its a canon event ruby.
I love that his pokemon really loves him.
Are we not gonna talk about how Ruby was fully commited to hit that super powered mud shot directly on Norman? Ruby/Sapphire chapter was the tits.
Wait wait wait... Pokemon Omega Rubyer was based off Pokemon Adventures?! I never knew that! Thats cool!
what
Huh?
@lockman5196 it's an animation. Imagine every adult swim show ever meets pokemon
So the Pokemon Rubyer animation was accurate? I always thought Matty made it up ahaahah
Lmaooo he definitely got inspiration from the manga with his series especially good since they have same team
Love these manga videos!
7:24
......*tosses the belt away*
*CRACKLE-CRACKLE*
Oh naw Norman be like " a true father don't need a belt to discipline his son, he needs these hands"😂😂😂
I love gen 3 manga so much
My second favorite is gen 5 manga
Kind of ironic since those 2 gens I like the least
Those are the two gens I like the most 😂especially gen 5.
Very interesting story, I really like it, but man Norman you are a horrific father.
Aye you gotta cover the Kanto vs Johto gym leader matches as few of them go crazy
Oh trust me I plan to the fact that tournament existed is so so goated
@@VeeVolt Ikr I wish they did a spin off where once a year each region sends 4 gym leaders or trail captains to a deserted island winning team gets more resources for their region
I understand Norman, ruby literally ran away whitout any warning, imagine norman and rubys Mother worry about him all that time, he just moved to a new region and simply disapperead, the beating he got was kind of deserving
halfway through the video, think this is a different manga than the one i remember (might've been pokemon special/pokespe that im thinking of?) but your descriptiveness is nice and your talksprites for your author-stand-in are very well done! dont usually watch pokemon sum-ups and don't know how many more i'll watch, but i'm doing my part to subscribe and comment to help you with the algortihm.
Pleaseeeee more content like this or a second part ❤❤❤❤ so awesome
This would have been awesome to be made into an anime.
But they need to change ruby's persona that is
Ya that battle was definitely insane! I still find it impressive that Ruby was even holding his own against his father with a Mightyana, Delcatty, and a Marshtomp. Bro’s literally fighting the strongest gym leader right there with… let’s just say Pokémon that aren’t that good in battles. Imagine what Ruby would be if he actually pursued battling lol.
Like father like son, they were both too rash in decision making.
Norman, being an adult though has way fewer excuses for that flaw, though.
Bro, what do you mean “Swampert isn’t good in battles?”
The man’s a behemoth.
@@GlitchanBlack tbh swampert is the only good pokemon he named.
"Who do you think was in the right: Ruby, or Norman?"
Bro, I can't believe you'd even ask that.

The Spiderman 2099 sound effect is killing me 💀💀
I love the noise you used for norman it's too funny😂
Had to make the man intimidating
Bruv i think u should be like comicstorian but for pokemon specials. Love the content. Subbing
The manga is so good, more people should read it.
Ruby is one of my favorite Pokédexholders! I identifies myself in that "daddy issues" part from his story😢
4:20 when you and the homies are hiding from the Ringwraiths
You forgot to explain why Ruby walked away from following in Normans footsteps as a battler, so why not explain the relationship between Ruby and Sapphire next?
Nah I didn’t forget I chose not since as you said it’s more part of ruby and sapphires story
@@VeeVolt Fair enough, I'll look forward to that video, should you ever decide to do one.
Holy crap Norman Is a menace
Another banger goat
Appreciate it 🙏
Is it inappropriate to say that Norman was HIM in this arc? It really is little wonder why Ruby was so afraid of him.
Literally best Pokémon special manga
Ruby wanted to join Pokémon Contests, a feat his father despises, or so he thinks. The irony is that Norman wanted to let him do what he wants, but after learning he ran away, that's when the dominoes fall.
Hey, my fav dex holder is Crys and Black. Talk about them more plz!
the spiderverse music with Norman's shadow got me chuckling ngl
And all I kept thinking was, "Ruby wears glasses!" Is that not cool? And accurate. The fact is alot of artists tend to practice their craft without thinking of light and other such helpful stuff. So for him to need glasses shows how much he has practice. And it's just awesome!
Also, all Norman are scary Norman.
Bro this lore goes hard 😅 I couldn't stop watching
Every character is at their peak in the manga.
Except ruby
@@Treeckoboi1 Ruby is great. He literally tried to fight a dragon as a small kid. After someone got hurt, he decided to do contests (which are underrated. Especially Hoenn ones). He defeated several bad guys, protected Sapphire multiple times, etc.
Also he somehow caught Celebi during his childhood. Which is what basically the entire Johto arc was about.
@@michaelcarlton1484 yeah but so much wasted potential for not making him become the champion.
