    Bro really hunted down his own son across Hoenn like a fucking Terminator, tore apart the Weather Institute trying to get him, and made Ruby use practically lethal force against him only to be like “If you wanted to be in Contests instead of Pokémon battles, you should’ve just told me.”
    Adventures Norman is insane.

      Norman also gave us the hilariously out of place "Oh no, lightning! Look out, Ruby!" Viz censorship to hide the fact that Norman was just beating on his son.
      I imagine there will be a lot of lightning when Ghetsis and N show up as well...

      @@lunerblade13hes literally 10? A 10 year old kid makes mother cry! Time to justify the dad physically abusing his child cause crying mom! Norman a grown ass man and one of the reasons ruby felt cornered to run away because of normans emotional abusive and aggressive ways of treating his son and forcing him to do something he doesht. Hes "selfish" for running away from an abusive parent? And said parent proving how abusive he is and justiying ruby running away. Trying to claim ruby is anytime near as selfish as norman your moral compass is crazy.

    • @lunerblade13
      @lunerblade13 9 месяцев назад

      @@bloopa7011 if anyone is an abuser in hoenn it’s not Norman it’s Zinnia. It’s her salamance attack that lead to Ruby’s scars, ruby and sapphire’s respective traumas (Ruby’s need to do everything himself not involving anyone else and sapphires need to self reliance in order to not burden anyone else), and Norman’s neglect not abuse.
      Since not only did Norman have to give up his early exam opportunity to become a gym leader due to the salamance incident followed with the freeing of rayquaza, but he was forced to leave his family for several years to search for rayquaza again (both things Norman had to do because he took responsibility for Ruby’s actions which he knew based on the salamance’s injuries coming from moves Norman taught ruby’s Pokémon).
      And due to the trauma of Ruby’s compounded with the fact that Norman had to leave for reasons he could not explain due to Ruby’s hand in things ruby grew up early with both a changed lifestyle and rebellious attitude toward a father who was seldom home.
      How could a father who hardly have time to be home be abusive especially to a son who is as stubborn as his father. Regardless of Norman’s attitude towards the changes in his son’s life ruby was still allowed to embrace those lifestyles for five to six years focusing on fashion beauty and the few small contests he could participate in in jhoto.
      And again don’t forget at the start of the arc Norman was prepared to accept Ruby’s desire to journey around hoenn once they were able to settle down in their new house (in fact I think he was preparing this to happen during their housewarming party). Things took a turn for the worst when ruby chose to run away not even caring for his mothers feelings to spit in the face of his father. That doesn’t sound like an abused child, that sounds like a stubborn child born from an equally stubborn parent with an opposite view.
      And let’s not forget doing things alone keeping loved ones at an arms length behind an abrasive bush so they couldn’t get hurt in the crossfire is Ruby’s trauma. In a way Norman has to walk through the thorns of Ruby’s stubborn and abrasive behavior just to get through to him just like how latter Wallace had to give ruby a reality check through overshadow and lecturing him with stern disappointment. Is Wallace the next abuser of the mental variety now to ruby.

    On the other hand, Norman response wasn't really much better (despite being justifiably mad) considering he bailed on his job without telling anyone & his immediate reaction to finding Ruby was to basically put the fear of Arceus into him by beating his ass, then his Pokémon's ass for good measure, all while ripping apart the building & putting them both in a situation that almost got them killed as a result of it

    But this battle always stood out to me, hits some great emotional points and the art is fantastic, on top of it always being fun to see how creative some battles can be
    As much flak as Norman gets for how he handled Ruby, they do at least make it clear that Ruby is to be considered an “adult” or at least old enough to make his own decisions in life, making Norman’s actions a little better in my eyes

    It’s nice to see more discussion on the Adventures manga. My favorite arc is definitely the Hoenn arc, but the Unova arc is a close second. Especially the first half, the second BW2 part of the story was kinda all over the place until the ending when it got a bit more on track and it felt like the writer finally decided what the point of the story was. It felt like a re-tread and also as if we were ignoring the ending of the BW, I get the time skip and all, but you don’t just ignore it like that, and especially in the way they did. It built up tension and brought up a lot of questions which had answers, and it left certain important characters out of the story. White and Iris should have had their own slice of the story, even if it was all in the background and mostly separated from the main story.
    Those two, especially White felt needlessly sidelined without anything to do even in the end. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but BW is the better half between the two since it not only has a through line, but it doesn’t juggle as much as BW2 does. It handles it all a lot better, and it’s relatively smaller scope lends itself better to the story that was being told.
    But as a whole, including the extra bits like BW2 and ORAS, I still feel like Hoenn pulls out on top in sheer quality of writing and storytelling. I don’t know if anyone else feels this way, but that’s the condensed version of my opinions on the manga. Also the newer stories in Alola definitely suffered from all of the attention being focused on BW2’s story finishing up, doesn’t help with its release schedule, and with how it isn’t exactly considered a popular series. But it’s still a shame Alola got the short end of the stick, but if it’s between SM/USUM or BW/BW2 in terms of story, I much prefer the choice of Unova. While I enjoy Alola’s stories, I feel there is more to explore with Unova then there is for Alola, might just be me, but it’s clear the writer had the same opinion as me in that regard considering the choices made.

Bro’s literally fighting the strongest gym leader right there with… let’s just say Pokémon that aren’t that good in battles. Imagine what Ruby would be if he actually pursued battling lol. Also Ruby would have probably won if he pulled out his secret weapon. Either way the two are obviously both in the wrong here. Norman is literally psychotic and bro literally tracks down his son just to beat him up. I mean, with a guy like that as my father, I’d run away rather then talk to him lol. Of course Ruby’s way too rash in his decision making which of course is one of his flaws in the first place but it’s still good that the two “sorted it out” like men… lol
