  • Housing instability is one of the root causes of food insecurity, and, sadly, more than 650,000 people in the United States were homeless at the beginning of 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. That's a 12 percent increase from the previous year.
To help address this issue, Harvesters works in collaboration with community kitchens like Morning Glory Café to provide warm and nutritious meals for our unhoused neighbors, in hopes that it gives them the energy and confidence they need to continue pushing forward and make progress on their current situation.
Erin Bassett, the one and only chef at Morning Glory Café, shares what it's like feeding an average of 150 people every day, while neighbors Leland and Dwayne open up about how much the support means to them.
