Alexander Atienza austria pulls such stuff quite often, look at the Motorgeschütz for exemple. They didn't want to build it for some reason.

Don't know why, but something about the design of this submachine gun is very appealing and iconic.
Hugo Schmeisser also designed the STG44 making Germany the country to design the first submachine gun (MP18) & first assault rifle (STG44).

Could you do a video on the STG 44 I believe it was the true 1st automatic rifle that kicked off or even the Mauser Kar98K its bolt system is still used to this day there both iconic weapons that have a major roll in design with modern firearms

This is the Waffe 28 in COD WW2. Well actually it's the predecessor to the MP 28 which is what the Waffe is.

MP 18 was far from lightweight it weighed almost 5kg it was actually almost a KG heavier than the rifles used by the German forces

Edit: also no, the MP-18 is not the first SMG, the Villar-Perosa is even tho it doesn't have a shoulder stock. The Villar-Perosa is the first weapon to shoot pistol caliber rounds automatically, we made the first smg, we deserve the credit for it, stop going all "oh yeah, the german MP-18 was the first smg", it's not

I always wondering why they first managed to build bolt action rifles instead of smg because a Open bolt smg is way easier to build than a bolt Action mechansim
Takes time and experience to know what weaponry to use. They kept using bolt actions at first because thats what the soldiers were trained to use and easily and reliably manufacture.
Took a whole world war to realize automatic fire was needed in the trenches, but by the time these guns were ready for mass deployment, the war was over, but they will use them in WWII eventually.
No different from armies still using m16's and ak's now even tho they were first introduced decades ago

That doesnt make sense. Nor is it the reason it was made with lower grades of metal and not hand fitted or selcted.
