This is great to hear. So long overdue. If this is as good a change as it sounds, this means Skyrush will shoot up a lot of enthusiasts’ top coasters lists and the ride will re-emerge as a big boy in the enthusiast community consciousness.
I think that for the GP and all but the most insane enthusiasts, the seat change is all positive. I only rode once Friday, but from that ride I think the people who will be most disappointed are the ones who celebrated the violence of the ride. If feeling like a ragdoll getting thrown around mercilessly was your cup of tea (as it is sometimes mine), I think these seats diminish that. That said, the forces are all still there. The airtime is the same just without the feedback of a bar crushing into you. The lats are still there, you just don't crumple over when they hit. 10/10 on the station update, the audio especially is great. The jet flyby in the queue was oddly realistic, it made me look up the first time I heard it. In the end, if these changes keep the queue filling up and the ride operating I'm for it, it's better than seeing one of my favorite coasters torn down in the next decade due to poor ridership.
Got a good ride on it today, and honestly I feel like the new restraints make the airtime feel more present. A couple of the elements felt like they were trying to throw me from the seat, and I can't remember ever feeling that with the old restraints. I used to find skyrush pretty boring for how wild it looked and only rode it if there's wasn't a line. Now I'd wait in a moderate line for a once a trip ride now.
really liked the theming, wasn't a fan of the restraints, the old restraints didn't bother me at all, these felt tighter on the sides and there was no airtime to be found at all. Compared to what I'm used to, Skyrush felt really mediocre, almost exposed. Definitely wasn't worth the nearly 2 hour wait. "although a portion of that was the lengthy delayed open.
Rode with the new restraints today. LOVED IT. This ride was always a skip for me after riding it once and being in so much pain because the restraints squeezed my thighs so much. These restraints are VERY much like the ones on Velocicoaster in Orlando. They're super comfortable and maybe it’s because I was distracted by the pain in my thighs the first time I rode, but I felt like I got more airtime with the new restraints than I did with the old. Just a wonderful ride. This went from being my ALWAYS skip ride at the park to my 2nd favorite coaster in the park behind Wildcat's Revenge. Well done, Hershey. Thank you for listening to your guests.
So happy I ran over to Wildcat first lol, I did eventually get on SkyRush later in the day (1 hour wait) and they did an amazing job!!! The restraints are comfy as anything even on a back row left wing ride and the ejector feels a bit more violent…but in a good way! Can’t wait to see how this baby feels once she’s all warmed up in the summer!!!
Taking my hat off the Intamin. To regroup after having to own that regardless of anything, the engineering decisions they made in the past , left parks with less than perfect rides to maintain. They’ve fixed their reliability. Their trains are unbelievably comfortable and they still Kept their ambitious ride design language ! I love the retrofit here. Bravo Intamin and thank you Hersheypark
Ok before I comment on the new Skyrush overhaul. I wanted to first see it in person first. I finally started my season this weekend and road it. My thoughts, I do like the new seats and restraints. I mean they aren't that much different from the old ones, just more padding on them. ( still crushed my thighs a little actually, not as bad this time). The new themeing. I donno mixed feelings about it. One had I do like what they did with the station and how they spruced it up, but the whole airline theme, meh. I think its a bit tacky. I think they should have done more of a like jet fighter theme going into combat or something, like a Top Gun theme. Like Ace Combat or something. That would have been cool and fitting for a coaster like skyrush that is widely celebrated among the community as one of the best and most intense coasters out there. I feel the whole Airline theme is a bit underwhelming for this coaster.
Does the ride still feel as wild? I never thought the old restraint was painful and actually liked that it only touched your thighs in a small area as you're getting thrown around... these seem more like something the size of a pillow pressing down to hold you in.
I had heard they were redesigning the station to allow riders to exit to the right to avoid the bottleneck. Doesn’t look to be the case from your video.
I’m glad the have back support now. The old seats had no back support. You could really get injured if you weren’t bracing at some points during the ride
@@Knexdude123 the majority of people didn’t like it…what an entitled enthusiast perspective. Just be happy they didn’t replace it I’m sure it’s still an awesome ride

That line is actually insane. Good for the park though.

Jeff agrees I do not
So skyrush is back where we started, controversy with the restraints, but now with new and better theming, which is definitely not controversial

Nicely said I haven’t figure out where it goes in my ranking, but I think it had to go up

I’ve never seen a line like that for skyrush 😂
Yeah, it’s insane
I’ve been queuing for Hyper Twister Wing Coaster for ages!
It’s crazy on Halloween
OMG! The first time I rode Skyrush I thought it was closed, the station was empty.
Wow, people never go down the path all at once like that before all a few people go down there
I can see myself in the cattle pen at the beginning of the video lol
I’ve heard nothing but POSITIVE things about the new restraints. Excited to finally ride this without my thighs being obliterated!
FINALY. The pain! Is gone! 😅
BIG SHOUT OUT TO HERSHEY PARK FOR ACTUALLY LISTENING TO YOUR GUEST....AAAAYYYYEEE
Yeah more park should do that…
Looking at you Kings Dominion for Project 305 restraints and Anaconda trains

Reminder, the white zone is for loading and unloading only.
I saw myself in the back row at 0:58 😂 I was in the Phillies jersey middle left seat
Go, Phillies!!!!!
Honestly as a tall guy, I’m more excited to ride Skyrush with this restraint change now.

Now the rise of skyrush.

I heard some people saying the ride ran slower or wasn’t as extreme is that true?
Skyrush is still the best Coaster at Hershey Park 🚁🎢💯
2:38 Yes yes YES 😂😂😂
WING SEATS ARE HERE
👍 on Friday it seemed smoother than normal… not sure if it’s the seats or something else
Now what are we haters gonna call it?!?
I had heard they were redesigning the station to allow riders to exit to the right to avoid the bottleneck. Doesn’t look to be the case from your video.
No, unfortunately no changes physically to the station just paint and effects
Me too and so much better
The new seats look less freeing is that the case too?
they might be a little more tight but as far as fat friendly, you’re good
I’m glad the have back support now. The old seats had no back support. You could really get injured if you weren’t bracing at some points during the ride
3 hour wait for Comet? Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck that.
I’m disappointed with Hershey because they gp’d the ride, Skyrush used to be my favorite but now it’s a C tier
You sound fun at parties 🤣 god forbid they make profitable decisions that open a ride up to more people
@@randalheller7460 I know but it just doesn’t feel the same
Agreed, the bracing on the sides of the seat backs completely ruined the laterals and it no longer feels like you have any freedom to lean sideways
First it's Thigh Crush, now this. Enthusiasts, man... xD
