I use the clamp vise to compress the trigger spring. Its original length is 33.3mm. After compressed, the spring is shorten to be 30mm. The trigger become softer now. Most spring can not be shorten by purely compression because it is “spring”. However, the spring in 1377/1322 is not so good, and easily shorten after compression.
Just got one of these and found the trigger quite heavy…. Definitely up for these mods.
Best modification I did to my 1377 was to fit the steel breach which then allows fitment of a pistol scope.
I have a 1377 too, but never knew about modifying the trigger. This is great info, thank you!
Have just done the polish mods to trigger and the trigger is awesome thanks for the info
Thanks for the informative and hands-on video Nibs 😉👌.
Truly appreciated 👍.
Take care 🙏.
Cheers 🇨🇦
You talked about the possibility of losing the detent ball or spring. I have a Crosman 157 that I got at auction that was missing both. There was a good tip in one of the airgun groups about using a ball from those smaller keychains and the spring that pushes the flint up from a bic lighter (it needs to be cut to length). Did both and the safety now works like a charm
Good tip, Plan A is don’t lose the parts in the first place 😉
@@WalnutandSteel really like your videos. They are real. I can relate to your garage and workbench! Its my happy place! In the warmer months I sit at my workbench and shoot targets in a couple of pellet traps that I have too.
Just getting into reloading a little as well to supply my 44-40 and .308. Mostly for the 44 since its around 2.50 a shot here.
You can't beat shade tree. Engineering !!! I've done it many times to make something work. !!
It basically a 760 pump master the old model there very similar with just a few changes and shorter. the new ones are completely different . this 1377 crossman has a tone of modification that can be done to it depending on how much you want to do to it. If you sand every thing the whole part and polish them after each part its good to do the whole part sear back top of trigger the whole hammer and hone the tube lightly were hammer rides deber hammer slot on tube & lube all lightly the spring you replaced on top you can take a 22 casing polish the bottom of the casing and put it on top of the spring so it's on the bottom sear and so it sit on top of casing flat you can also lighten the hammer spring but just don't go to light it doesn't open the valve. You can put small niylon washer on the side of the trigger to line up the tiger and sear better that should get you a real smooth clocking and trigger pull. If you like this you would really like the maurader pistol. 👍👌✌️🎯😉
That's a good one I got all models of them in 22 and 177 great pistols
Very nice job!! Love your how to's!
Looks like you got a real Nice trigger pull Appreciate the video thank you
Hey. There... Jay here. Yeah I know what your talkin about. Been there a couple times , it's fine tune work , it's kind of an art to do. You either can do. it or not do it. & if you mess up. Your going to. Be. ordering parts hahaha. ! But if it. all works out right. It's well worth it !!
I learned many, many, years ago that my preference is a simple trigger shoe.
The 5lb pull is making me miss every time. I am way better than that. I gotta do this soon! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. I have three of these pistols now. I must be collecting them I suppose.
I'm thinking about gifting you one of my metal body 1980 daisy 880 power lines your just such a great dude
That would be fun to do a comparison of the Crosman product of that day too
Light & smooth makes a big difference. Had to laugh when you said if you don't have good bifocals Stop Now. Mine were on top of my head to watch this. Time for eye appt. Very good detailed explanations. Companies have to have stiffer triggers than needed because of liabilities. Shame.
It's also cheaper to just punch out a metal piece instead of machining/polishing it.
What piece are you punching out?
@@WalnutandSteel he's talking about stamping parts for the trigger and not machining them.
I don't remember the part numbers but you can buy from crosman three parts and have a fully adjustable trigger. Ex
There is a place in the top of the trigger that protrudes forward.
It looks like I could take the barrel off and drill and tap down through the frame so a small screw could be installed so it comes out over the forward tip of the trigger.
Then I could use the screw to adjust the take-up on the first stage of the trigger. That would take out that long creepy first stage of trigger pull.
Do you see any reason that wouldn't work?
Thanks for the video.
Replacing the spring sure was simple
I'm going to refer back to your video on the Ruger MK-IV trigger work because the trigger on mine is just as bad as you said it was...and I'm not a trigger snob
nice vid
Thanks for the trigger improvement tips. Very helpful. Can you recommend an inexpensive red/green dot for my 1322? I replaced the plastic breech and can accommodate almost any configuration. My problem with iron sites is poor close vision.
I really like the uuq mini 2 moa red dot. Also was distributed by amokie but it appears to be discontinued by them
Well then, guess i know what im going to be doing soon!
video is great but the only thing you don't need to do is Polish those parts just drop some three-in-one oil or some automatic transmission fluid what it will do it will actually smooth those parts out like a cast iron skillet when you polish it it will pit it because that metal is nothing but pot metal and as cheap as all get-out anything with a three-armed linkage system you won't need to do that just put a drop of oil at the point of contact
The parts in my gun were stamped out of steel. Polishing was definitely the best part for improvement on this one. Other guns like the ruger mark 4 have certain parts made from pot metal
Are you on Gateway to Airguns? Someone posted there today about the trigger on the Umarex Ruger and your video was linked in the comments. It might gain you some new followers.
Is that a website? I am not familiar with it but I will have to look it up. Thanks!
@@WalnutandSteel Yes, it's a popular website in the airgun community.
Molybdenum disulfide is another great lube for metal to metal contact.
Can you just stretch the spring and cut it ?
Or hit it with a heat source to anneal a coil or 2.
Swapping the spring is very easy 😁
Do you think there is any way to use the stock spring to make it lighter ?
Ive seen people pinch it hard a few times and some others cutting it BUT none of them included any trigger pull weight
Nice informative video Sir!
I guess that is possible but it is such a heavy guage spring. Not sure it would do much. Give it a try and let us know!
@@WalnutandSteel I guess I already got a replacement spring so I cant loose much !
Hardware stores dont have alot of stuff so I may struggle to find a softer one 😬
@@WalnutandSteelSo I am back watching this video again to compare with my 1377 🤔
Mine did start at 5 pounds but the spring only go it down to 3- 3 1/2 but I can feel alot of grit while pulling it.
_Hopefully it will be an easy fix it didn't seemed like it was the issue for yours_
Some of the trigger parts are rougher than others
@@WalnutandSteel Hopefully I can get mine down to arround 2 1/2 ish !
_Fingers crossed..._
It would've been a Good bit easier just to compress the OEM Spring a couple times & testing it with Trigger pull Gauge each time . ive done it without a gauge. Just compress , put back in cock it then just squeezing it i can feel how much lighter the pull is. don't wanna compress too much or you migh get a "Hair " Trigger.
Is it okay to dry fire with the bolt open?
I guess you are trying to prevent some "backlash" damage to the valve unloaded, but...
I don’t see what harm it could do either way but I have been chastised by a few folks on here for doing it 🙄
@@WalnutandSteel not willing to critisize really. More of a learning experience here.
When I did those tests I put some rubber bands on the bolt, so it didn't hit but the trigger still dry fired.
Anyway that was with the steel breech and I didn't want to ruin my brand new expensiv-ish part
Thanks for answering on this old vid :)
I didn’t think you were criticizing. Thanks for watching!
Where can I get a lighter spring like that one?
I have found spring assortment pack at harbor freight, tractor supply and several other stores
Thank you, I will check my local Harbor Freight. Ill have to break out the calipers :) @@WalnutandSteel

Do not dry fire a 13xx without pushing the bolt forward after cocking like he does.
3:50 4:11 ect
Will it break it?
@@WalnutandSteel I guess air will blow back in your face, don't see what else could be affected.
Why?
@@WalnutandSteelno, it won’t
