I have never heard anyone play Bach's harpsichord music on the piano so authentically as Maestro Richter. There are many good players out there but there is only one Sviatoslav Richter. Amen.
True. But thanx the power that be, that we ALSO have Glenn Gould, and Martha Argerich, and Tatiana Nikolaevna, and some more truly great musicians who play piano...
Richter plays with extraordinary clarity and precision given the maelstrom of notes. He was a truly unique figure among 20th Century virtuoso pianists.
The greatest of all performances. I hate how so many pianists and conductors try to play Bach in a lavished, Romantic fashion. Richter and Rilling nail it perfectly.
An outpouring of Bach's genius, a river of immortality. This composer wrote for the glory of God. Interpreted by the great master Richter, it becomes even more wondrous.
@RemovdSande11 I think it was the best. I listened to him many times at concerts in Moscow, the hall of the Conservatory. Even his record is impressive, but the live performance was spectacular.
This performance is stimulating, soothing, tickling and hypnotizing all at the same time. Though 13 years ago entering a long sleep, S. Richter, you remain a living master.
the fantasia is an "easy" piece for serious amateur pianist , but the way richter play it its absolutly amazing . i ve heard plenty of interpretation (its a very free piece..) But this record ... No one touch me like richter so far , a real treasure
Richter's discography doesn't mention the recording of BWV 944 in 1968. These are known recordings: * (Moscow, 14 Oct 1948) - Melodiya D 17703/4 (10") or D 030267/8 (LP) or 25178 (CD) - BMG/Melodiya [ Japan ] BVCX 4051 (CD) - Urania SP 4208 (CD) - Andromeda ANDRCD 5038 (CD) There is also a video made in 67-68 - it's available on YT.
no its a lot earlier than that--i have this performance on VHS from an old Soviet film about Richter. The video is just about the most extraordinary performance i've ever seen--the video used to be on RUclips but no longer and i wish i knew how to transfer my old VHS to RUclips.
@Natalotos wish I could have heard him live myself. Too bad he passed away before I reached the age of 7. Also wished to have seen Rubinstein and Horrowitz play. Glad we have so many video's left!
to gabledvoid - I've experienced such a loss for both my mum and dad for the same fatal disease- I just can say that this heavenly music will make you feel even closer to him wherever you are wherever he is = Not just words, believe me.
My deepest condolences to you... Let this music to be a consolation. You father lives in you. You must live your life so he would be proud for you. Time to live, time to die... Remember your father!
+osp0109081 and Beethoven said that to be a genius is not a privilege but it is a gift that God gives someone to put in favour of the enitre Mankind! All the best!
Fellipe, don't be discouraged just because you can't play as Richter! Very few in this world could do it! ;) I can't teach you, but will gladly help you if you wish. Best of luck to you!
In this fugue Bach wrott the 18th Variation (fragments).I explain: Pagannini wrotte the theme , la do si la mi and Rachmaninoff had composed Variation on Paganini Theme.Look my commentary in ErichKimura about this Variation..Bach Bwv 944 the variatio n nr..18 repeat various times.
Richter was, and still is, the best interpreter of Bach's keybord music on piano.
VCguitar1 not at all.
Totally agreed
Pff you poor deluded guy.
@@Npvsp Awwhhh lmfaoooo
Preach ❤
Those opening rolled chords just sent shivers down my spine. Grandious performance.
I have never heard anyone play Bach's harpsichord music on the piano so authentically as Maestro Richter. There are many good players out there but there is only one Sviatoslav Richter. Amen.
You haven't heard most of his other Bach then...waaayy below this
Magnifique

I think these recordings are very similar.
Genau!
bach was really in another unearthly dimension of creation.
Indeed he was. Divine logic! Worth to be born just to hear his music.
He is also being called "The father of modern music". Bach is timeless.
joe slizzler He is god
no other way to explain it. Bach is a phenomenon that will last forever
Ideal voice he was. They were. Bach and Richter, through centuries of Times and times... Blessing!
He is a legendary pianist in music history!!! Wordless!
The 20th Century's greatest pianist.
Maybe, best pianist ever!!
ummm i think u mean glenn gould
@IsaacH1273 neither could you...
Glenn Gould was a super genius, but very specific.
@@samaritan29 Glenn was very special...
but...sorry ...
he wasn't Sviatoslav Richter...
I fell in love from the first hearing...It has so many emotions, pictures, feelings, expressions in just 6 minutes...
Tsvetelina Nikolova pictures?
Tsvetelina Nikolova pictures? It is not a painting idiot
Another wonderful Bach discovery for me.How can 0ne man create so much beauty? Is it possible?
i used to have a VHS film of Richter playing this.It used to be on RUclips but was removed--it was breathtaking to watch as well as hear.
Hello, do you still have the video? I would love to see it
An outpouring of Bach's genius, a river of immortality. This composer wrote for the glory of God. Interpreted by the great master Richter, it becomes even more wondrous.
The Richterian idea of Bach was precisely what you said, an ongoing temperemant between Bach and its performer.

Wonderful technique! Spectacular pianist!
Si la vida te hace sentir insignificante escuchar música, esta música, te hace sentir sublime.
This performance is stimulating, soothing, tickling and hypnotizing all at the same time.
Though 13 years ago entering a long sleep, S. Richter, you remain a living master.
Clean, impeccable, and most of all, beautifully played.
Impressionante!!!!!! Como Bach adoraria ouvir Richter. É perfeito, poderoso. É a encarnação da própria Música.
A truly stunning breathtaking performance
Holy shit the opening is amazing.
Certainly the best pianist ever!!
Wow. Thanks for sharing this. Awesome!!!! Can't get enough Sviatoslav.
Divine music. Stunning performance by the incomparable S. Richter.

Well said...
But how do you define "hammering" and where did you find it here?

Maybe on of the best fugue ever written for harpscord by Bach with C sharp major BWV 848 and G major BWV 860.
Fellipe, don't be discouraged just because you can't play as Richter! Very few in this world could do it! ;)
I can't teach you, but will gladly help you if you wish. Best of luck to you!
Even Richter was discouraged, or Argerich, no matter how far or high you get, you're still in the middle for yourself.
