    You're a stupendous teacher! I mean really great, indeed. Your sound, in the entirety of the video, is much much closer to the old way of singing without amplification, the operatic way of producing sound. Not the weird unsupported sound 99% of the current classical singers do, but the great chesty tones of yore. Thank you very much for such a great demonstration of good vocal technique. If you were to venture into opera I'm sure you would sound amazing as well.

    Hi Alex I've got a question:
    I recently found my "mixed" voice (pure head voice also 80% sure), and I discovered this mixed voice feeling with the same vocal fry thing you talked about.
    But the pure head voice eventually hits a roof (an E5 earlier today, still experimenting). Do I add even MORE of the vocal fry tension to my cords in order to break through my 3rd passagio?

  • @Hhjhfu247
    @Hhjhfu247 Год назад +1

    So those G5-C6 notes are pure chest voice or is it chesty mix voice or what?

  • @jmaghan2770
    @jmaghan2770 3 года назад

    Great demonstration, is actually applicable to mix also along with train ear after months of practice daily. The concept is your fry as the base to connect to disconnected registers as beginners, you notice only if you record yourself and spot only bad habit by your train ear or teacher. Summary: The way chest voice we perform (throat placement) in our mind must be same to other registers so can be connected as what internet called supported singing.

      @sandipanbose4639 When you're inhaling - you're opening the throat : larynx is lower, soft palate is more raised. When you're exhaling - probably, you're closing the throat, and that's why it's difficult to go higher 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Hi Alex, great video! I'm trying to develop my voice above the third passaggio and I can do flageolet very well and hit very high notes like C6, but it has almost no volume and I can't just find a way to connect my head voice, which goes well until C#5, D5. When I try do pass that bridge, my voice goes from high volume and compressed to very low volume (as you did in the fry exercise) I tried the tips you gave in the video, but wasn't successful so far. Do you have any other hacks? Thanks and keep up the good work!

      It's not gonna be so fast:) First of all, check your breathing and support! Then quack! Also use fry+release attack, you should not use to much weight in the upper range!) And don't forget about cry mechanism ☝🏻

      @@AlexShelestVocalLessons thanks Alex! I’ll try to follow this. I have one more doubt: Could my issue have to do due to me being a belting student and singing in hard mode in the second passaggio? • @AlexShelestVocalLessons
      @AlexShelestVocalLessons  4 года назад

      Hey, for sure! You need to learn how to thin out the folds! Than you’ll be able to add more weight to the sound. Mezza voce head voice setup will help!

    • @musiktranen
      @musiktranen 3 года назад

      You're probably using the wrong vocal modes. More specifically, singing exclusively in Overdrive. Overdrive is one of the possible four vocal modes of the voice (like the gears of a car, for example), the loudest and heaviest one. Is your mix very loud and heavy? Then that might be the case. The reason why you might not be able to go above C5 is because Overdrive mechanics are impossible above C5. Search Google for CVT (Complete Vocal Technique), I'm sure you'll find the answers to a lot of your singing problems.

    • @musiktranen
      @musiktranen 3 года назад

      Trust me, it solved a LOT of my vocal problems, and the rest of them is gradually disappearing as I develop my technique. Sadly, there's not much material in English for CVT on YT. But there's a few channels talking bout it, like Gregory West, for example.
